My first visit and I was truly impressed with the food, the service and the ambiance. My friend is allergic to shellfish and the staff looked out for her at every turn. The spinach dip is served with chips that are deliciously fried in house, but in the same fryer as their crab cakes. So, they brought a plate of vegetables for her to dip in the delicious warm dip. The salmon sandwich on ciabatta was simply the best salmon sandwich I ever tasted. Here's the description: Salmon Croquettes sandwich. salmon cakes + asparagus + tomato + swiss + lemon dill aioli + ciabatta It was perfect. I went with my family recently and it was not good. Our food took forever to come probably 45 minutes or longer. While we waiting for the food the waitress came once but didn't even ask if we needed drink refills or anything. Her service got worse from the time we sat down until we left. It was giving she knew something was up and avoiding us. Since we were the last table in the restaurant so it wasn't busy. When our meals finally came they were luke warm. I ordered the short rib and there were maybe 5 small little pieces of meat. Keep in mind this one of the most expensive things on the menu at $40. When ordering a meal for that much I expect there to be a big piece of meat. Not sure why they fried the poblano pepper that also came with it because it was gross. My dad got the stuffed salmon and wouldn't even touch the crab inside because he said it was off. My mom got a burger but hard to screw that up. I am not one to send a meal back but I would have had it not taken forever to get the meal in the first place. And honestly if I need to send something back I don't want something else. read more

Tano Bistro, Hamilton, Ohio: I would literally choose any other restaurant and will not be returning. On Saturday May 9th I had reservations for a party of 7 to celebrate Mother's Day a day early. This was my second visit, first one was a few years ago and it was amazing so I knew it would be a good spot. However, this time the service and wait time of food was extremely disappointing and the food itself was on the boarder of just ok to bad and our overall experience was terrible. On the way to the restaurant I called to provide my credit card so I was sure to get the check regardless of who at the table tried to pay, we were celebrating our mom's no need for them to pay! She graciously figured out how to take it we talked for a couple of minutes and nothing else to me was said. When my mom arrived 5 minutes before us she was told by the same woman who took my card number that she had our reservation, but when we order it will be a 40-50 minute wait for our food due to being down a cook. Something that she could have shared with me when I called 30 minutes before our reservation, but for a Sat. night party of 7, seemed pretty resonable. The whole experience was terrible and down hill from there. When you read this I want you to understand none of this is exaggerated this is all exactly what happened. We also frequent restaurants from all ends of the spectrum so are expectations are very realistic. It took 10 minutes to be greeted and to order drinks. Our drink order: 2 pops, 2 glasses of wine, 1 beer, the rest was water provided by a busser. 10 min went by, we had to ask someone who passed by for the drinks in which our server returned with the 2 pops and we reminded her of the bar drinks. Bar drinks never came, the server was nowhere to be found. Now 30 min has passed after ordering our drinks, I tracked down a busser and asked if he could check on our drinks, the bartender brought us the 2 glasses of wine, no beer (the bar was empty by the way, not a soul sitting there) now 40 minutes passed it was obvious that no beer coming so we went directly to the bar to ask for it. Shortly there after about 45 min our two $7 baskets of bread arrived...charred, so burnt I couldn't believe they put it out and further more can't believe the bartender brought it to us, server still nowhere to be seen, immediately we asked for replacements and then we discovered we have no silverware or napkins. Tracked down someone else to ask for those; 50 min after ordering we get silverware and napkins to go with our burnt bread. Our food arrived 85 minutes after we ordered. We ordered a mix of salmon, skirt steak, pasta, and a burger, none of them were any better than going to somewhere like cheesesteak factory, and sadly maybe worse. I hate saying this, but our server was terrible and definitely could have made it somewhat better, instead she took our order then essentially ignored us until she helped to bring out our food. For the amount of money my husband and I spent to treat our Mom's we all expected a better experience and definitely better food. There wasn't even any acknowledgement from our server or anyone else about the wait time. Not even a visit from the manager who you'd think would want to say something to his guests so they'd feel better about retuning. Also nothing was offered to us other than taking off 1 basket of bread. We won't be returning due to the overall experience. I hope the GM or owner or someone from this restaurant who cares, sees this and understands what impact this has on a visit to their restaurant and figures out solutions to their kitchen and wait staff. Side note the female bartender and male busser were lovely, they deserve better. read more

I came to the area visiting my bestie and she suggested we go to Tano. This in my opinion is a nice quaint bistro with really good food the ambiance is inviting, and the servers were very knowledgeable. I was starving so I needed up ordering salmon egg rolls appetizer before my bestie made it. This dish was so delicious. I also ordered a French 75 and Raspberry Lemon Drop as it was on the Social Hour menu. For my main dish I ordered the Patatas Asada. When it came out, I was little bewildered as I was expecting fries but two potatoes patties. I just went with it. I was pleasantly surprised as it was nicely seasoning with lemon pepper and flavor from the steak matched perfectly. Everything was delicious. I took some of it to go and it reheated well. My bestie even said she doesn't know why she doesn't frequent Tano Bistro as often, but she plans on visiting more often in the future. read more

I went to Tano on Saturday night with my partner and a few of our friends. Easy to get reservations. We started with lobster and Brie dip, Ricotta and honey and the bread basket. Amazing starters. I decided to be daring and tried the duck breast. It was sooo good. Cooked perfectly, tender and flavorful. It was not greasy, which is what I was worried about. It came with risotto and green beans. My partner had the pork chop and he raves about it. My friend has stuffed salmon and she ate the entire thing and usually never does that. My other friend had a salad with salmon. We needed a place to host a pre-graduation dinner and Tano Bristro was definitely the right spot for us. As a foodie, I don't mind driving for good food but during graduation weekend in Oxford, we really didn't have a choice. The team really did a great job accommodating our large party. This place is only a couple of years old and is on the 1st floor of a building across from a park and hotel. The area appears to be growing with new units popping up. There's street parking around the restaurant and we didn't have a problem finding a spot. They have a nice bar area and offer both outside and indoor seating. We have been coming to Oxford for a number of years now. Tano Bistro is one of the better places we have found in the area. Their lunch and dinner are both very good. They have a good variety on the menu and are willing to make modifications (as needed). If you are in the area and want to have a good meal, I would certainly encourage you to make a reservation and check out Tano Bistro. read more

Going to kick off this review by saying that perhaps it was an off night, but man oh man was this place disappointing. We arrived 15 minutes before our reservation, and despite there being at least 4 open tables, we were initially told we had to wait. Then we were finally seated at a table that looked into the back of the kitchen. The white wine was served warm, and the Arnold Palmer was pure lemon juice mixed into tea because they ran out of lemonade. All four of our dinners were almost inedible, including a pork chop that tasted like it was dipped in sugar. Our server was nice, but in the end, nothing could make up for the overall bad experience. I have been here several times now for date nights, and the food and service has always been fantastic! Fresh, delicious scratch made food, and an awesome location, right in the center of downtown Hamilton, surrounded by a park and lots of other bar and brewery options for after dinner drinks. I have never been disappointed in anything I have ordered. Most recently I had the "Snout and Sprouts" appetizer, which is Charred Brussel Sprouts with Bacon and a Lemon Aioli. Sooo flavorful, and maybe the best Brussels Sprouts I have ever had! Crab and Brie Stuffed Salmon was next for me, and it was fresh, perfectly cooked, and was absolutely delicious. My wife had the pork chop which she could not stop raving about it. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a casual spot to lunch or dinner, or a nice date night spot. My wife and I stopped into Tano Bistro on a Saturday afternoon for a late lunch while in town on personal business. We were quickly greeted and seated outside, but the hostess seemed annoyed that were had interrupted whatever it was that she was doing when we arrived. Not rude, but certainly not welcoming. I noticed this attitude again when I went inside to wash up and passed the manager. I said hello, and he just glared at me...okay. Our waiter was friendly (and VERY talkative), but not very attentive. There were long waits between waters, taking our drink order, taking our lunch order, and finally bringing the check. Lunch took much longer than it needed to. The food was okay, but nothing special. To be fair, we both ordered the fish tacos, so we really only have one item to review. The tacos were okay, but boring with a small piece of lightly seasoned cod, some raw red cabbage, and a little (not-spicy) pineapple salsa on store-bought flour tortillas. I asked for hot sauce after the first bite, but our server forgot and disappeared, so I ate everything without it to avoid letting it get cold. Serving tacos with fries is fine, but something more authentic like beans or rice would have been better. In any event, I don't hate Tano, I just found it to be a bit less than expected after looking at the website. The place was clean and well located, so they have that going for them, and I'm sure folks looking for basic food will be happy there. For the money, I expect a bit more than this. read more

I love Tano Bistro! I've been before at their first location in Loveland. Every since then I've been a fan. Then I found out they opened one in Hamilton. This is where I live so this is perfect. This location also did not disappoint! Their food is comforting, fresh and delicious! The service is also always pleasant! We always start with appetizers! This visit we did the Ricotta & Honey and Smoked Wings. We love ricotta dips paired with sourdough bread! It's the perfect match and ricotta is a great dip. What was unique about this dip was it had blueberries in it. It was fantastic! I'm not a wing person but the wings were good. My husband and my youngest daughter killed the wings! Their appetizers never disappoint. I usually stick to what I know at a restaurant, especially if I really like it. I ordered the Stuffed Salmon and my husband ordered The Havana. The salmon is always my go-to when I come. It's good and I love salmon. I enjoy this dish! Now the Havana was bomb! It was a great choice my husband picked. I'm glad he did so we could try it. It certainly gave Cuban vibes! It was delicious! We did not have any complaints! We can't end dinner without dessert! We ordered the S'mores Bread Pudding! I think between myself, my husband and two daughters we scarfed this down within minutes! It was delicious! I like how they added a twist to such a classic dessert! So this restaurant is a much needed addition to Hamilton's dining options. It adds fresh and delicious chef inspired cuisine. Had dinner on an extremely busy Saturday evening, realizing they were still in the newish phase. However, the service was great and the food delicious! The menu features salads and sandwiches and also full dinners. It also has shareables and small plates available. We had the pulled pork sandwich with a mini bistro salad with a glass of Chardonnay. For dessert we tried the Strawberry Pistachio Chiffon. All the food was yummy. The dessert was amazing! So happy for this new dining option! Tip: make reservations if going on a busy weekend evening. Stopped in here after going to the casual pint. Elegant/upscale setting. Plenty of tables and decent size bar. They have 4-5 craft beers on tap and a full menu of signature cocktails. I had an old fashioned. It was decent. They have mostly bourbon cocktails but also martinis. We did not eat but the menu had everything from filet mignon to duck. Looked a little pricey but as I said this is an upscale venue. Located in the same building as Pour House and Casual Pint and across the street from Municipal Brewery. Will definitely eat next time I visit and will adjust rating based on that experience read more

Sunday brunch here was nice and a great time with friends. They take reservations on Opentable and it felt safe amidst the pandemic with all the spacing in the restaurant. The table ordered the biscuit and sprouts to share, both delicious. The biscuit is a great size and got a few different jams to try when we asked (my friend said there used to be a self serve full jam bar). My friends enjoyed their meals of the burger and Benedict. I ordered the Huevos rancheros, I liked it but the issue I had was the tortilla were tough (as in I couldn't cut through them and felt chewy?). A very nice, dressy casual, chef ran restaurant. I've heard of tano bistro constantly changing their meals, and I had gone in about two months prior and their menu has changed! Which I love. I got three appetizers, and a salad. My friend got their lettuce wrap with chicken. I had the bread, pork skewers, and a shrimp guac and chip dish. Service was a bit more upscale then usual restaurants. Slower but very intentional and never making me feel rushed. The food was incredible. It took longer but this is because I believe they are made to order, and lots of the dishes are house made, not pre made or pre packaged. The skewers were my favorite, crunchy and refreshing! Went for the first time on a Friday afternoon since my dad was in town. We ordered the grilled chicken, filet minon, and pork chops. Every single dish was delicious. We were pleasantly surprised by the ambiance and food at Tano's! We had been here before for special occasions and while we enjoyed it, thought it was only a special occasion kind of place. We went back last week and sat outside on the patio. It was wonderful! We ordered drinks, appetizers and desserts. Everything was so. good! I'm no chef, but the food all tasted like it was all made from scratch--even down to the tortilla "tano" chips. We tried: - the Guac-tail appetizer Yummy! Five shrimp on a bed of made-from-scratch guacamole. It came with the Tano (tortilla) chips. My husband, who does mot particularly like guac, couldn't say enough about how good it was. The portion size was generous compared to most appetizers. - Creme Brûlée. Very good! Doesn't disappoint. It was worth every penny. - Expresso Martini. Yum. If you like coffee, you will love this drink. Bonus: You can walk up to the Dora window and order drinks to go. Try Tano's, you'll be glad you did! read more

I have been tryingng to get back to Tano at Marcum Park since the pandemic hit and finally made it for a date with the hubby last evening. I had enjoyed the food during my first trip a couple years ago. I really hate to submit a negative review, so I will start with the positive aspects of my visit. The waitress and all staff were top shelf. My pear ginger martini was very nice. We started with the roasted brussel sprouts with pork belly. The flavor was nice, with a good aioli, but there was barely any pork belly and the portion over all was very very small. There were bacon bit sized pork things but nothing that had the flavor or texture of pork belly. Perhaps it was diced too small? I don't know but it was a dish that I was returning to eat again. I was pretty disappointed. My husband got the Cajun shrimp pasta dish. He said it was ok. Again the portion was barely lunch sized and served it with a very dry, very small slice of toasted bread. No butter, no oil, no seasoning... Just toasted bread. Eek! Just seems like no thought it effort went into it. The real reason for this negative review, though, is their chilequiles. I know what chilequiles should be. Dear chef, this is not it. I got a serving of glop. The salsa roja was tasty, but the ratio of salsa to tortilla was crazy wrong. Speaking of tortillas, where were they? It looked like scraps of chip crumbs from the bottom of a bag. These were not actually corn tortillas, and there was way too little of whatever it was. There were weird country fried steak things on top?? There were maybe TEN kernels of corn scattered with about TEN tiny crumbles if cojilla cheese. So so so bad. Please take them off your menu if you cannot make them in any way resembling what they should be, or better just learn how to make chilequiles. They are inexpensive and can be a real money maker if done correctly. I'm sad to say we will likely not return anytime soon. We are lucky enough to be going through something of a boom to our town and went specifically to Tano rather than trying one of the new restaurants here. Tano is no longer the only culinary option in the vicinity. I hope the management reads this sincere review and decides to make a couple changes. You guys already have a great front house staff, so you're in a better position than many struggling restaurants. read more
