Onion rings

Saw great reviews for the Stone Tavern, so my wife and I decided to give it a shot while we were nearby. First the good. The place is cute. Fun looking building with a mini parking lot or on street parking. Small set of outdoor tables, but we chose to eat inside. The staff was super friendly and despite what I read about needing to order at the bar, Jason came right to our table and he was GREAT! He recommended the fish and chips and the shepherd pie. We had those and the Hanky Pankys as an appetizer. First watch out: English pub that only had American domestics and Guinness on tap...the only local brew was out of service. Oh well, we adapted. On to the food... We enjoyed the appetizers. They reminded my wife of something her mom had made when she was growing up. For me, they could have used more cheese. We then had the entrees the shepherd pie was a great presentation, but a bit greasy and the ground beef was not the shredded rib I read about in the reviews. I checked and the menu did say ground beef. My bad. It was 3 out is five at best. The onion rings I got as my side were fantastic!!! Next was the fish and chips. The menu stated " half pound of cod in flaky IPA batter fried golden brown served with steak fries". If you look at other pics of this in their previous Yelp reviews - that seemed to be what they served. Instead I paid $19 for something from GFS or Trader Joe's. See my pic. Not great and thus the drop in stars. Net service GREAT! Food meh. Might stop in again if in the area for a drink because it seems like a good neighborhood bar.

It's a British pub. Hamilton Ohio has a British pub and it's cracking good! It's cheery and brand spanking new inside. Very clean. We came Saturday around 2PM and the food was so delicious, I stopped in again today for takeout (or takeaway as they say across the pond). So we've had occasion to try five menu items. The owner is Jim and he was around both days. Very welcoming to the customers and eager to please. I think he must be an expat Brit. Just one barmaid/server who was Alex, and she kept up pretty well with handling the tables too. All the tables have number signs and I think the true pub tradition is to go to the bar, tell your table number and order, and then they bring it, though this was not enforced. The kitchen staff brought the meals. And that food! hot, fresh made with obviously top quality ingredients. Herbed chicken was super flavorful and a very generous portion of meat. Bangers and Mash were exactly as they should be, a savory dish to which I added a dash of HP Sauce. Garlic mashed potatoes had just the right amount of garlic and a great consistency. Shepherd Stones almost like little meat pies, hearty and satisfying. The Reuben was incredibly delicious on the wonderful marble rye. And those fries....think of the best steak fries you ever had then kick it up a notch. The grand finale is of course the butter cake which melts in your mouth in an explosion of sweet flavor. Oh my Lord, it was out of this world. The bill shows you clearly the cash vs. credit price and I like that. There is a good amount of street parking and a parking lot, and ramp to a side entrance accessible to the physically challenged. That entrance takes you to a side room suitable for a large group. I love the look of the outside of this establishment too. It really is a stone tavern. They've got Guinness on tap along with several other selections and quite a variety of beer in the cooler too, including Harp and Red Stripe, plus a nice wine list. My husband had a glass of red that Jim recommended and he said it was great. And a nice pour too. They are open every day from 11 am. Highly recommended!

Stopped in here today for the first time and they did absolutely everything right. It appeared there was just one person working the bar and the tables surrounding the bar and that person was Jennifer. Jennifer did a great job waiting on us and everybody else and didn't appear to get rattled by anything. My friend ordered a beer and I ordered a cocktail and then we placed our order for food. We did sit at the bar. My friend ordered the fish and chips along with a salad and I ordered the Reuben Stones appetizer and a cup of the soup of the day which was a three cheese broccoli and chicken. Everything we ate was good and I would so get that soup again! We had another cocktail and then I ordered dessert which was a warm brown butter cake with whipped cream and chocolate shavings. Jennifer also made me a fresh pot of coffee and I had a coffee with cream to go along with the dessert. I am going to say that was the best butter cake I have ever had. When we go back, and we're going back, I will definitely order dessert again. Don't wait y'all get out there and give this new place a try!

Came out for a burger and Stone Tavern did not disappoint! Black & Blue Cheeseburger and Stone Tavern burger were amazing. Seasoned well and full of all of the fixings! Onion rings are a must, great crunch with every bite. bartender was pleasant and informative! Will be back to hang out on their patio this summer!

Take yourself out on your own darn date. Why not?…read more You deserve it. And when you do..... Order the Pink Starburst for 10 buckeroos. A steal. It's pretty and pink and glows. Second choice was an expressotini. The crab rangoons for 6 bucks are a steal. Who can't resist crispy fried filled puffs filled with cream cheese ? Not this girl. Then I took Anthony's suggestion and went with a coconut spaghetti. If you're wondering what that is...... It's flippin fabulous. It's mandarin egg noodles tossed with shrimp, vegetables, in a savory brown sauce. Sold. The curiosity alone was enough to order it. Now on to the ambience. 9.5 outta 10. The music is in the background and not too loud to not hear the conversations your eavesdropping on in the next booth. And any place you go and hear Fleetwood Mac is a plus. The bar has a cool vibe and you don't have to break the bank. And!!! best part yet, there are books all around the place to read if you get bored or have a boring date. And Lori is such a darn hard worker with a smile a great hair. And thankfully, they do Apple Pay.

Excellent, excellent, excellent. We came for an early dinner and got a spot out front (25c for 30…read moreminutes, free after 5 PM). We sat in a very comfortable 2-person booth. Our waitress was Sheridan and she provided absolutely superb service. Major shout-out. They didn't have the beer my husband ordered so she took the initiative to return to the table with two samples of similar beer for him to try. She answered all our questions and made appropriate recommendations. We were checked on often enough, a soda refill appeared without my asking, and she neatly boxed up our leftovers. She was pleasant and kind and one of the best servers ever. Very classy decor here; subtle touches of the orient; wood, leather, and...books! And a very elegant bar. Motown music was playing, and festive but not excessive Christmas decorations were up. And yes, a fortune cat was there to greet us. Food arrived quickly. We had the Thai Dumplings app which was just enough for two to whet the appetite. It was tangy and peanutty and the cool cucumber slices a perfect contrast. My husband had the Green Mango Grouper and loved it. I had a taste and it was fantastic, fresh white fish and delectable toppings, spice level 2 was just right. I tasted it and agreed it was excellent and right then we made plans to return. I had Siam Curry with chicken. Full of flavor and wonderful vegetables especially the snow peas. Spice level 3 is described as Thai Spicy and they are not kidding. They do not wimp out on the spice here so use caution. (For example at Thai Thara in Richmond Indiana I go with 5 of 5 and I still need to add some spice.) Sheridan brought extra chili oil if needed. I would recommend erring on the side of lower spice with the option to add. We took home an order of Singapore Noodles to share for supper tomorrow along with our leftovers. I snuck a taste before putting it away and it's delicious! Looking forward to another visit soon and I think I'll try one of their cocktails. Highly recommended!
