The interior is very cozy, it hardly felt like a blazing hot summer day in there, more like a nice cool fall. The food and drinks were excellent. Many of the cocktails have tea-inspired elements, which was a really excellent start to the meal (the old-fashioned especially). For food, we loved everything. The mushroom samosas were almost more like saag and delicious. The short rib curry and the burger were both delicious. We finished with the sticky toffee pudding and it couldn't have been better. Went to make a reservation here for a Wednesday night. We have a group of 4, but one may get called into work. When I went to make the reservation, I found that that if we show up with 3 instead of 4 we would pay a $20 per PERSON fee. I have heard of no-show fees for a whole missed reservation, but a missing person is offensive. Do I get a discount if my service is slow because a server called in sick? What if the entree I came in for is sold out? I bet not. We were able to find a table at a different restaurant that puts an emphasis on the experience, not the profit times seats times turns equation. It's a shame. Came here with my wife on a Sunday night and the restaurant was mostly empty except for one other larger party. They describe themselves as an upscale British pub focusing on Indian fusion dishes. The space is nicely laid out with a nice mural on one wall and plenty of seating in addition to a bar. We got a handful of plates including the paneer appetizer, tartare, lamb ribs, butter chicken, and bangers and mash. The food was good, though not great. They had some interesting fusion dishes but nothing was really outstanding except the chili paneer appetizer, that was really excellent. Overall, it's a cool spot with some interesting dishes. We had a 6:00 reservation on a Wednesday evening. It was bitter cold out and the restaurant was not crowded. The entire dining experience was top notch. The restaurant is chill and classy. Our server was knowledgeable, helpful, accommodating and had a wonderfully subtle sense of humor. The menu is small, but varied. While everything we ate was superb, there are so many other interesting items on the menu that it only makes sense to come back. My nephew had East Coast Oysters and loved them. He and his wife shared English Carbonara; there was not a single piece of pasta left. They also shared Steak & Chips. The steak was so tender, no knife was needed. I ordered the Short Rib Vindaloo. At our server's suggestion, I asked to include a side of chili paste. Dipping my spoon into the paste added amazing flavor to each bite. The Sourdough Naan was tender and perfect for ensuring nothing was left in the bowl. A small bowl of sliced cucumbers, onions and tomato came with the dish. I didn't know what to do with it so I dumped it into the vindaloo. While that may not have been the proper approach, I have to say the crisp, pickled veggies were a perfect addition. This meal was outstanding. Mark had Fish & Chips. I looked at the price and thought, "Oh my!", but my shock was quickly calmed by the massive pieces of fish that arrived at the table. The fish was perfectly, lightly breaded and was flaky and delicious. Another great meal. Dessert. Don't miss dessert! My nephew's wife had the Lemon Posset. Our server recommended this dessert as the lightest offering. We all tried it and wow! Amy told our server it was so good she wanted to lick the bowl. My nephew and Mark both had Sticky Toffee Pudding. I swear my nephew was in tears. He said it was the best dessert he's ever had. I had a taste of Mark's. I tried Marigold for date night after all the recent hype and they did not disappoint. Overall, most of what we ordered was flavorful. We shared the mushroom samosas and the accompanying mint yogurt chutney was so good. The trout was cooked perfectly although I do wish it had a curry sauce (while I jealously side-eyed my husband's malabar shrimp). Unfortunately, I deducted a star for the sourdough naan as it was a massive fail (absolutely nothing like naan due to the heaviness). Additionally, the chai I ordered was meh. For Marigold's take on Indian, I do wish they offered a masala styled chai with milk. However, they absolutely nailed the sticky toffee pudding. That was heaven in my mouth. I will start by stating that the Crown Restaurant Group is by far my favorite! Thee most consistent and amazing group of restaurants in cincy!! I've officially been to all of them. I stopped in last night for my birthday dinner and tried the prefix menu and everything was made to perfection. I tried the steak and chips with the Pachadi salad. The salad was so fresh and delicious with a vinaigrette as the dressing. The steak and chips was a little more salty than I prefer but I still enjoyed it. Make note they don't carry steak sauce. The meal ended with a sticky toffy pudding and I was pleasantly surprised by the flavor. My mom tried the trout with the mushroom samosa and she also loved her meal. Not sure how I got this so wrong, but I thought I was coming for an Indian restaurant, and though there were some Indian flavors in some of the dishes, this is not an Indian restaurant. I imagined that the chef lived in England, since there were a few dishes with Indian flavors, but also featuring (as specials) cottage pie, and shepherds pie. Since I lived in the UK, I'm not passing up a cottage pie--with peas and carrots--and creamy mashed potatoes on top. The flavors in the broccoli salad were nice, but I'm not a fan of uncooked broccoli, even though the flavors used were a fab combination. If you're good with raw broccoli, I'd highly recommend that salad. I forgot that an affogato has espresso on it, and I do not like coffee or espresso, so that bummed me out, because the ice cream was Earl Grey and the espresso drowned out that flavor, which is why I ordered it in the first place. We celebrated our anniversary at Marigold and had an absolutely wonderful experience. The evening started off with complimentary sparkling champagne, which was such a thoughtful touch. We each ordered a cocktail-- I had the Mango Lassi and my partner had the Stirred Bird. Both were complex, balanced, and genuinely delicious. For our appetizer, we had the Prime Beef Tartare. It was incredibly tender and practically melted in our mouths -- truly a must-try. For entrees, we ordered the Lamb Shank and the Malabar Shrimp Curry. Both were phenomenal. My Favorite dish was the pachadi salad (had a delicious mustard-based dressing) and scotch egg with a flavorful cooling cucumber sauce. We wanted to give ourselves plenty of time for dinner before a show at the Aronoff so we made reservations for 5:30 and we were the only table in the restaurant! More people came in but the restaurant was pretty empty all evening. Our server, Rachel was very friendly and helpful, going over the menu and made sure our waters were filled and we had what we needed throughout the evening. I asked her opinion between two cocktails and went with her suggestion of the chai espresso martini which was delicious! We started with the sourdough bread that came with treacle and honey butter which I thought would be more remarkable, if pretty much tasted like run of the mill butter. Nothing that bothered us that much. Overall food was pretty good with a couple little hiccups. We started with the paneer and mussels. We all thought those were by far our favorite dishes of the night. Paneer was out of this world, I could have eaten that for my meal. Mussel sauce and sourdough were delicious. I had the butter chicken which was a bit disappointing. I know others have commented on it same but chicken was an awful texture. Sauce was decent though. My friends had the steak and shrimp curry. The fish and chips are the best in the city. The fish was crispy yet soft on the inside. The fries were thick cut potatoes wedges and the peas are a nice addition to break up the dish. The cocktails were creatively crafted, with the Espresso Martini standing out as one of the best I've ever had, thanks to a unique twist with chai. The Pachadi salad is something I'll be thinking about for a while. It's bursting with vibrant colors, textures, and flavors, unlike any salad I've experienced before. The Butter Chicken seems to be a crowd favorite, as I saw it being served at nearly every table. You can tell they are still new just because he had to ask some questions to the chef regarding what is gluten free. For the entrees the table had the butter chicken curry, the cottage pie, the shrimp curry, and the mussels. Everything was hot, obviously homemade and so comforting and tasty. You need to be at least a little bit of an adventurous eater to try this restaurant because it is a British pub with Indian influence theme. You cannot customize spice level. That being said, the food was fresh and flavorful. I enjoyed my malabar shrimp which has a coconut curry flavor. The star of the evening, was by far the sticky toffee pudding. I had heard of it before on food network shows but never tried it.
