This restaurant exudes a quirky atmosphere- dark and elegant with a splash of funk. There is live piano music each evening. They are known for their extensive selection of whiskeys. You can order flights or cocktails. They also have a full service bar. Our service was exceptional. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable. All the staff worked together well to create a smooth and enjoyable dinner. We ordered the whipped feta as an appetizer. It was delicious- fresh, flavorful with a touch of sweetness and served with pita triangles. Our Yard Old Fashioned and Tamarind Dream cocktails were very good. For main courses we had the gnocchi carbonara with an added chicken breast and the short rib served with polenta. The gnocchi was very flavorful. I do think the short rib/polenta could have more flavor. For dessert the banana and chocolate pie was amazing. Even though we shared it - we took home a decent portion (the serving size was huge!). We had reservations for six people at 7pm on a Friday. We were seated in a booth. It was cramped and hard to speak to the folks on the same side of the table. I kept hitting arms with the guy next to me. If your party is six or more, I would request the staff to push two tables together and not sit in a booth. And I know they are trying to be an authentic whiskey bar, but for our 60-year-old group, it was very dark, loud, the menus were brown and hard to see, and the silverware is black placed on a black table. It was a sensory challenge for the entirety of the dinner. Our server, Laurena, was lovely. She was attentive and knew the menu well. She did an accurate job of splitting our checks into three at the end of the meal. When our main dishes arrived, they were presented by four food runners all at once. Here is what we thought about the food my wife and I ordered: Ahi Tuna Pagoda - This could be your whole meal because it is a large serving. There is a lot going on with all the ingredients, so don't expect a pure tuna experience. I liked it, my wife didn't like the number of strawberries and tomatoes. As different as it was, I would order it again. Short Rib on Polenta - I could say with much certainty that this is not short rib, but pot roast (chuck roast). It was dry, under seasoned, and needed more sauce. The polenta was seasoned and cooked well. Gnocchi Carbonara - The gnocchi tasted house-made, but the sauce had to have cream in it because it was so thick like an alfredo. Carbonara is supposed to be egg/parm sauce only. It felt like a mac and cheese on steroids. Too rich. The half-serving is very large though. Chicken Lo Mein - was good but made with the wrong noodle. They were flat, not round. For an Asian dish at a not Asian place, this dish was decent. The half serving was also very big. Creme Brule Cheesecake - generous portion and very good! We probably won't go back. The atmosphere is challenging, and the food is not memorable enough. Kudos to the service and the staff though! read more

Ambiance was amazing Our server/bartender was attentive and knowledgeable! We were a party of 4. Apps. Bao buns-amazing. Deviled eggs- a completely different flavor profile and absolutely amazing. Poutine-hand cut fries, short ribs tender, the gravy was a perfect combination of rich and a touch spicy and the relish had the perfect amount of acidity and spice ! Entrees Lobster risotto- I'm not much of a risotto fan but it was really good. Had a very healthy amount of lobster. Risotto had a text book texture. Filet- the smoke really came through the potatoes and mushrooms. Steak cooked perfectly with tons of flavor. Whisky yard salad with chicken - chicken cooked perfectly. Salad was a great combo of sweet and savory with the perfect amount of texture. Scallops- only dish that was a miss. The dish overall was unbalanced. While it was cooked perfectly I think it needs more salt and acid. It was overly sweet. The only thing I could eat was the scallops themselves and had to add a lot of salt to balance out the sweet. Overall the experience was really good and I will defiantly be back. Restaurant is still new and I know their chefs will continue to make amazing dishes that I cannot wait to try. This brand never disappoints with the service. Great job making us feel welcome and not rushed at the end of the night. I just didn't think any of the food stood out. Short rib on the fries was tasty but the cheese curds were non existent. The chicken lo mein lacked flavor and the ahi tuna was just overdone with all the unnecessary extra stuff. We stopped in after going to a movie, this place just doesn't seem to fit. An elevated bar type food menu would be better in my opinion. I do love how beautiful it is inside. Stopped in as we were visiting from out of town. It is a stunning restaurant that has a lot of ambiance, but not over stuffy. We were a large group of chatty people and felt comfortable having a good time. The food is beautifully plated and had good flavor. Only issue is that if you have ANY allergies or aversions you MUST ask about them because the menu does not list all the ingredients or how it's plated. Food was just okay! Not bad but not great or crave worthy. Had an herbal mixed drink. It was pretty gin forward. We split the short rib poutine. That was a great appetizer. Ended up being what we enjoyed most. I got the gnocchi and we both described it as a little bland and texture wasn't quite there. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Whiskey Yard. Upon entry I was hugely impressed by the modern decor and beautiful artwork. The beautiful hostesses Nana, AB and Khadizha kept me company and shared menu highlights while I awaited my friend's arrival. This first impression made a HUGE impact. My friend and I were seated and greeted by our awesome waiter, Evan who was kind and knowledgeable. Eventually ordered cocktails; he, the margarita which had a beautiful and dramatic presentation. I opted for the Matcha Whiskey Sour which was also beautiful and well balanced. We enjoyed the Beef Bun and Beignets small bites. Both were delicious! My friend enjoyed the beignets so much that he ordered a second round of them and drinks. lol I'm glad we extended our dining time because we had the opportunity to chat with the GM, Michael G and Manager, Gavin. I noted everyone's name that night because my friend and I had a ball and they made our night memorable. Three of us went for restaurant week and none of had any complaints! Service was some of the best we've ever had. Server was super attentive & timed the courses perfectly even though the restaurant was busy. Food was delicious and portions were generous! The Bourbon Barrel Bread was so tender and flavorful. The Moroccan Spiced Shrimp had a little kick but wasn't overly so. The salad was fresh and contained a variety of ingredients. The Whiskey-Braised Short Rib was one of the most tender I've had with creamy mashed potatoes. I had a wonderful experience for my first time at WY. My husband and I made a reservation for a late Friday. It was beautiful inside. There was a waterfall in the entrance, and dim lighting. Someone was playing piano, and you could feel the sophistication. The hosts were very friendly. They asked if we were celebrating any occasions, and we shared that my husband was going back to school. After we were seated, we were served our drinks right away. The food did not take long to arrive either. My pasta was tasty, and the portion was generous. What sold me was the waitress came back with a card signed by the staff congratulating my husband's acceptance at school. It was so unexpected and touched me deeply. We went to the funny bone and decided to grad a bite after the comedy show. We decided to go to the Bar whiskey yard. I must say the interior and atmosphere was great. With that being said, the food was not great. We started off with the shrimp flat bread. I feel it took awhile for the appetizer to come out. When the flatbread came out, it wasn't hot. They remade the flatbread again and it still wasn't hot. I'm not sure what was happening in the kitchen. We actually enjoyed the flavor, but I expect the food to be hot. Especially with the prices they charge. I hope they make improvements because o do see potential. read more

I know they are still working out some kinks from being new, because it took forever for them to seat us even with a reservation made for over a week. When they did seat us they attempted to sit us in the cold front area designed for warmer weather, where they had space heaters. I was NOT going for it, so we firmly but politely said that we were not going to sit there. Thy quickly adjusted and sat us in a much better spot. From then on it was nearly perfect. Our cocktails took a bit to arrive, my guess is they need more bartending. We first ordered the Garrick bread with roasted red pepper and orange butter. Whoah! It was enough for four people and the bread and the butter were both fresh and unique. Then we ordered the fried crispy shrimp. I had a mouth orgasm from how amazing that was. Honestly i could have just ordered that and eaten it all for my dinner. It's out of this world delicious! My boyfriend ordered the gnocchi and it was yummy. I had the braised short rib and boy is it plentiful and perfection. I think I ate a third of and boxed it up. Kudos to our waiter and I can't remember his name but he was Adrian American with braids. So if he hears about this.... Way to go man! He was so congenial , polite and attentive. Wow! This restaurant just opened Feb 7 and I CANNOT say enough about the service and portions. Caleb was our server and he did a great job explaining everything.It was also a nice added touch when each dish was presented on the table simultaneously w another server! Wow! The inside of this restaurant is so gorgeous. The same artist that did Agave and Rye and S.O.B strikes again with beautiful interior and ambiance. The food was fantastic. We started with the short rib Bao buns. Very good! I ordered the scallops and my husband got the filet. Both very good dishes. My only complaint is the over-usage of micro greens in each dish. Adds color, but completely unnecessary. My velvet veil cocktail was so good! Not overly sweet and very refreshing. We came for lunch and there were only a couple other tables. Some of our friends had eaten here so when Restaurant Week in Cincinnati came around we thought we would give it a try. I had the fixed price menu ($56) and my wife ordered off the regular menu. She had a salad with salmon ($25) and I had the oysters and short ribs from their Prix fixe menu. The oysters were grossly over salty and I had to send them back and ask for a simple salad. Strike one! Then we had to endure a piano man who was far too loud for a small space like this. Strike two. Our waitress was very nice and helped us during the meal. My short ribs were fine but in any other restaurant they would have been sold as Pot Roast at half the price. We were OK with the food and service but felt things were overpriced. Strike three. Up front I'll admit we only stopped in for whiskey on this visit so I can't speak to the food, but we're all now obsessed and planning to go back to check it out. The interior is gorgeous, just impeccable and I want my house to look like this place. The whiskey selection is even better than I would have expected, with some hard to find options. Prices weren't cheap but they weren't higher than I'd expect. We tried a few flights and that was really fun. We were in town and had a delightful stumble across this new restaurant. We were astonished at the renovations and art work that flooded the walls. We were greeted by smiling faces, menus and shortly after our table. We had the delight of being sat in Kelly's section, and she did not disappoint. With great menu selections guided by her pairings of wine and whisky drinks, we gorged ourselves in atmosphere, well presented dishes, and the occasional pop in from great service members. We ordered the corn salad. The salad was delicious; howeve, if you're going to call it a corn salad, it better have plenty of corn. We ordered the Braised Short Rib served over polenta with little sweet potato crisps. The short rib was oh so tender. You only needed a fork. No knife. And the sauce...mmmmm.. It was really delicious. We also ordered the Lobster Four Cheese Tortellini with mushrooms. It was amazing with a savory butter and chock full of lobster. Yummy! The first cappuccino that they brought out was not made right. They apologized and the next cappuccino that they brought out was made deliciously. The food, the vibe, the decor was top notch. The wine was really good as well. I had the Pessimist by Daou, red blend from Paso Robles, California. Lovely! Decor is artistic. Everywhere that you look, there's something interesting to see. Reservations are a must. We went there for my birthday and I chose it for the live music and the piano bar was nice. The atmosphere was loud and not sure how the staff dealt with the noise. It was dark but I came to the conclusion that it was suppose to be like the inside of a charred whiskey barrel. The art work and the chandelier was gorgeous. The tiles appeared to be 3d so if you drink you are not seeing things. A table for 2 is small. The staff was great. Our waiter did misunderstand the appetizer but they made it right and we ended up with 2 appetizersbut in his defense it was really loud in there. My husband devoured his steak and I must say it looked amazing. I had the chicken bruchetta also realy good but could not finish all of it so they bag it up for you to take home. Our waiter brought out a birthday surprise dessert of 2 small bites of cheesecake and tirimasu. I had a whiskey flight and my husband had a red wine. He wants to go back for his birthday. As with all of the Epic Brands restaurants the ambiance, food, drinks and service at Whiskey Yard were amazing! The ambience was an experience in itself and we were lucky enough to get to dine in our own private room! We wanted to take the large custom beautiful wood dining table home with us but unfortunately it wouldn't fit in our car! The location was also excellent as it was conveniently located in Liberty Center with valet directly outside and lots of other parking options by the restaurant! The menu is inspired by global flavors and seasonal ingredients. For starters we tried several of their small plates. The Whiskey Braised Short Rib Poutine is a must try as it was my favorite! The crispy pomme frites with a more than generous portion of tasty shredded beef short rib on top exploded with flavor with the demi, Fresno chile relish, cheese curds and scallions! Our family favorite was the Arancini! They reminded me of deconstructed cheese sticks but in 3 tasty balls that were constructed by a culinary genius! Their Crab Cake was so tender and meaty and truly was amazing! We also enjoyed the Whipped Feta served with pita! For entrees the foodie road trip continued with deliciousness as we ordered the Zaatar and Sumac Rubbed Salmon, the Mediterranean Brick Chicken and the Filet Mignon Au Cafe! The filet came out and won the presentation of the night with an aromatic huckory smoke reveal when the server lifted the fancy glass dome from the plate! The chicken and salmon were both excellent choices and their sides also didn't disappoint Parmesan polenta with the chicken and Israeli couscous with the salmon! The Rigatoni pasta was also amazing! My son enjoyed the grilled steak bites cooked medium rare with fries off the kids menu! The Bao burger sliders from the kids menu were also loaded with meat and were a great choice for a unique experience! For dessert the tiramisu, Nola banana cream pie and salty caramel bruleed cheesecake were all a great way to close out a fabulous dining experience! Did I forget to mention there is a live piano bar in the restaurant so we also got to listen to live music! The pianist not only played great but she was an excellent singer as well! read more

Was excited to try this place, after a few friends had been. Not off to a good start. we were a party of 6 adults who were sat in a booth with little room to move and much less enjoy a meal. I was an invitee so didn't complain about the seating, but it was obvious we should have been sat elsewhere. Unfortunately, don't remember what I ate...I did remember a drink maybe a margarita that was intentionally on fire...looked impressive, but some direction on how to consume...when to pour in the extra shot that came in the shell of a lime, etc would have been super helpful. our waitress was not having a good day. she seemed completely stressed out...complained about the piano music being too loud...hence the reason for her yelling as she spoke...unreal! we had some challenges with ordering, our waitress unfortunately was not a good listener and insisted she brought what we ordered...unbelievable! We were an older, non complaining group...so just patiently dealt with her, but Not sure I would return. might, but just NOT the same waitress. read more

this was our third visit to whiskey yard, and our first two felt like magic. the short rib poutine was melt-in-your-mouth tender, the crab cake was full of real crab, and the lobster risotto had that perfect rich, buttery creaminess. the salty brûlée cheesecake was unforgettable, and the drinks are always refreshing and unique--such a fun touch. which made this last visit feel like the magic faded a bit. the whiskey chicken flatbread came out soggy and underwhelming, but the biggest disappointment was the "nola" banana cream pie. it was honestly awful--completely lacking flavor, with underripe, almost firm bananas, and none of the creamy, comforting richness you'd expect. it didn't feel finished, let alone worth serving. service was also very slow--it took over 30 minutes just to get dessert, only to wish we hadn't ordered it. we've seen how great this place can be, so we're really hoping it finds its rhythm again soon. read more

The ambiance was beautiful so I expected the quality of the menu to match, but unfortunately it fell flat. Flavors were exceptionally bland and the menu lacked creativity and with no side offerings ability to create a dinner was virtually impossible. On a positive note, all pastas were available in half and full plates.....we ordered full plates and they were very small. Whiskey Yard is still new so I certainly think there's an opportunity to continue to improve the menu but for now, I was disappointed by my dinner. Whiskey Yard in West Chester is the kind of place you almost don't want to tell people about... because the second word gets out, it's going to be packed. We went opening night and honestly, you'd think they'd been open for months. Everything was seamless service was smooth, the staff actually knew the menu, and the execution on every dish was exceptional. And it wasn't just "good for opening week" good it was legit. Opening night I ordered the Mediterranean brick chicken and it was juicy, flavorful, cooked to perfection. You could tell that chicken was brined tender all the way through with that perfect seasoning. It was so good we went back again tonight (2/11) and they were firing on all cylinders again. This time I had the filet cooked medium rare, and the temp was absolutely perfect. Zero notes. Cocktails are executed beautifully too. If you're choosing between the smoked options: the Smoked Manhattan is bars above the Smoked Old Fashioned but honestly, they're doing it right either way. The ambiance is gorgeous, the decor is upscale without being stuffy, and it feels like a true "downtown-level" night out... except it's right here close to home. I'm thrilled I don't have to drive or Lyft downtown for this vibe anymore. So yes... I'm hesitant to blow up the spot... but everyone should experience this. We went to the bar to have a drink before going to the comedy club next door. We both ordered wine; one cabernet and one pino grigio. No top shelf bottle was asked for nor were we asked to pick from the menu of wines. The bartender poured both wines into two separate wine glasses, carefully measuring to make them the same height of which was just less that 3 fingers. I was charged $36 for the wine. I suggest that you do not order wine at this bar based on the preceding. read more
