This place appears to be failing. They've announced that they're going to close for 2? 3? 5? Nights a week. Pity. This place is run so badly that this was inevitable. Look at the parking lot -- looks like they're sealing and striping it $138 at a time. Check for hours before you come here. I was not expecting much from a hotel restaurant with such a low profile--it's hard to tell if it's a restaurant or large lounge area--especially in a Courtyard Marriott in Hamilton, Ohio. I definitely wasn't expecting a perfect mid-rare juicy hamburger that was delightful. Boy was I happy to be surprised. This was one of the juiciest burgers I've had in a while. We stumbled upon this place since the breweries on Main had hour waits and we are very happy we did. We are often visiting family and rarely have new dinner choices but this place really surpassed our expectations. We came in on Saturday night and we were seated quickly, and it was empty. We were greeted by Joe who was such a pleasure since most of our experiences are chains in the area and have had some bad service. My family all had steaks that came out perfect and everyone was left with full stomachs. I had crab cakes and they were so fresh with huge chunks of crab and the best sauce. Yum! Located inside of a Marriott, the Plaza One Grille did not disappoint. After purchasing a great deal on Groupon; two entries, two glasses of wine, two salads & one dessert for $50, we decided to try the Plaza One Grille to celebrate our anniversary. One may enter from their own side entrance or via The main lobby. There is also free parking. The Marriott did a great job with the decor. Not only does one feel like they are at an expensive restaurant, but a traveler wouldn't feel embarrassed if all they packed were t-shirts and jeans. They really walk that fine line well. Not only does the decor lend itself to various occasions, so does the menu. There are options to accommodate any budget. One can choose from $8 sandwiches or salads, or chose from higher end items such as $38 fillets, and anything in between. I had a buttery tender fillet. One of the best I have ever had. The meet was cooked just as I ordered it. It came with sweet potatoes au gratin and fresh green beans. The sweet potatoes had a meaty texture. Almost, like salmon. They paired well with the cheese in them. My husband had the strip steak. His came with hand cut potato wedges and green beans. He enjoyed his food as well. The Caesar salads were a bit overdressed for our tastes, but not enough to take away a star. The lettuce was still nice and crisp. It had obviously been dressed just before service. I would suggest ordering the dressing on the side. We were also brought some pita with cream cheese. The bread was more like plain Indian naan bread than pita. That being said, it was soft, warm, and delicious. Their wine list had a bit of everything in the $7 to $9 price range. Last was dessert. Rather than share, we ordered two. The tiramisu & chocolate lava cake. The tiramisu was done well, with complex flavors. I really liked the delicate sugar crust on the outter lady fingers. Definitely enough to share. The chocolate lava cake was much smaller. More like a chocolate bunt cake, ( no "lava") but still good. Service was excellent. Gabe was the perfect mix of friendly and attentive, without being overly so. We had a wonderful meal, wonderful service, and would be happy to go back again. read more

Terrible food. Terrible service. Terrible attitudes. We had a large group staying at the hotel for work. We tried breakfast 2 times and were disappointed with the food quality & service time both days... We went elsewhere on day 3. We tried dinner there one night and had to request drink multiple times and waited for a good 20min before they were all served. Then we had to send multiple dishes back, due to poorly cooked and ill tasting items. Then the last night we ordered apps and drinks which came with poor portions and when we decided to eat elsewhere were treated poorly and talked about rudely in passing. We won't be back and warn you to stay away. Lack of options in town shouldn't excuse food and service of this quality. read more

A very pleasant atmosphere with attentive and professional service by Monica were the first things we noticed. The bread service of warm pita with housemate spread was unique and delicious. I asked for a wine list and was pleasantly surprised not only by the selections but the price points as well. My wife ordered the chicken and waffles which were AMAZING. The chicken was moist, the breading crisp and the house made blueberry syrup was five star. It's the best chicken and waffles either of us have ever had. I had the New York strip medium rare which is a simple dish yet one rarely done correctly. At Plaza 1 it's done perfectly. We shared a peach cobbler for dessert and it was delicious. Thanks Monica!!! The food left a lot to be desired, especially for the price. I ordered the steak and fritas. I requested that the steak be cooked medium. I sent the first steak back as it came out well done and dry. The second steak is pictured. It came out unevenly cooked with the center being medium well, with the rest cooked well done. After having waited an hour total between the two steaks, I choked down the steak which lacked any seasoning or flavor. The fries were hot, fresh and crisp both times they were presented. The manager of the restaurant went from table to table multiple times checking on people and their experience. I guess she skipped mine after she heard I had sent my steak back. read more

While visiting Hamilton, we have visited this gem twice. The restaurant is conveniently located in up and coming Downtown Hamilton. Our server for both visits was Monica, an extremely hospitable host. The restaurant is a very upscale casual space off the Courtyard hotel lobby. We found out that only three Courtyard hotels have restaurants! Our first night was a burger and sandwich kind of night. We started off with a very flavorful smoked pork, corn and black bean soup. We had a Swiss cheese burger, a green chile burger (very tasty) and a Reuben sandwich. The burgers were flavorful and cooked to a perfect medium rare. Our only complaint was the bun was too flimsy and soft. The Reuben was also good. We had side salads with a delightful maple Gorgonzola dressing. Our second visit, one of us had that great soup again and a tasty goat cheese and beet salad. The other had balsamic chicken breast with vegetable risotto. For a non-Italian restaurant, this was an excellent risotto. The rice was toothsome and the vegetables were nicely crisp. On both visits we shared a sinful chile fudge brownie with ice cream and Carmel sauce. This seems to be the only nice restaurant in town open on Sunday night, so the management needs to update their Yelp hours to include Sunday. read more

Our Friday night group (24 of us and 14 separate checks) had a great experience. The ONLY hiccup was that they only set up for 22 so space was a bit tight. Everyone's food and drinks were good. The service staff and management were accurate, efficient and friendly. The ladies were at on end of the table and the guys the other. I never did figure out how the got all the checks right, but they were. We brought an Anniversary Cake which the manager put in the refrigerator for us and brought it out after dinner and furnished dessert plates and forks at no extra charge. Don't waste your time. When we arrived we were not immediately greeted as our server was visiting with another table. After finally being acknowledged, she brought our menus and said she would be right back to take our drink order. Then went back to visiting with the only other table. The menu was very limited and pricy for what they had to offer. This steakhouse also only offered 1 steak, fillet. We were able to look over the entire drink and food menu and leave without another glance from our server. On the up side, we did find a restaurant with excellent service and phenomenal food at Johnny's Italian steakhouse. Only 16 mile down the road and well worth it. Food was okay at best ~ we ordered the 12 ounce grilled sirloin with mashed potatoes and asparagus. We waited over an hour and we given the wrong dinners ~ 8 ounce sirloin with fries. The manager Debbie tried to tell us that was what we had ordered and had an attitude about the situation. She took our dinners away without discussing options with us. We would have kept the 8 ounce sirloins and she could have brought us mashed potatoes and asparagus. We did not want to wait any longer and had to wait another 1/2 hour. I love this place! The food is delicious. The flat breads are my personal favorite. The staff is always friendly and the venue is beautiful. I really wanted to like this place! We found it through a Groupon offer and thought it was a great deal.. All started off well. The service was fantastic. Our waiter let us order wine off the non-Groupon list and still included it in our discount. He was very warm and attentive. We also received service from a woman I assume was a manager of some sort. Excellent kind service. The atmosphere is very nice as well. Clean and inviting, for what you expect to be a semi- fine dining experience. Unfortunately, the food does not meet this standard in the least. With the exception of the bread offered (warm pita triangles with a delicious dip) the food was very low quality. Salad greens were not especially crisp/fresh. The ribeye entree that my husband and I both ordered was some of the worst steak I have eaten... ever. 40% of the steaks were actually fat (not marbling, fat). The steaks were stringy and not cooked to order. (his over and mine under). The asparagus on the plate was limp and discolored- I didnt even try it. The chive mashed potatoes were edible with nice texture, but didnt taste especially fresh. One of the poorer meals I have eaten in a very long time. I don't know if it's the chef or the resources he has to work with, but I hope there's some significant improvement in the food. It would have been a disaster to have paid full price for this meal. read more
