I like and support local businesses. My family went to breakfast at the Mason Grill this morning. It's a quaint place that looks to have a dedicated following. It's reasonably priced and the service was good. The food however, did not sit well with me. I ordered the mudslide, eggs, home fries and a biscuit topped with sausage gravy. Sounds good but the gravy was not very good and the side of links were overcooked and tasted more greasy than normal. I wish the Grill much success but I won't be back. read more

We've eaten here many times and it is always excellent. And dollar for dollar, you won't beat it. I usually get the breakfast special for 9 bucks which includes 2 eggs, choice of meat including goetta, a generous serving of home fries and toast. Your food comes out fast--less than 10 minutes always. The coffee cups are small, so they allow you to bring in your own which I like. I love this place! In a world of fast food, processed everything and low quality, this place stands above it all. It's a classic take on the American diner, but what I found great was the approach. The home fries were fresh potatoes, no coatings, no grease! The eggs were fresh and fluffy, rye toast was toasted perfectly and delicious. They don't season anything, allowing you to season to taste, which is refreshing these days. On top of it all, what a value for money! We come here every week and love the food, the service and the servers. It feels like home.

It's nothing fancy, but is a comfortable place. Most of the clients are over 60. The menu has a lot of what I would consider comfort food. Everything seems clean, the server doesn't seem very friendly, but the reason is probably very busy. I ordered an omelet and home fries, they were well seasoned. Server at our table as soon as we were seated, took our drink order came back and took our breakfast order. Food was out very fast and it was delicious. I might be over staring this but my girlfriend absolutely loved this place. Atmosphere is an old dinner feel. Felt clean and very wlecoming. People were really nice and attentive. My food was good but not great. I got the "Breakfast Special" I believe. It came with 2 eggs, a nice peice of ham, and some potatoes. Eggs were cooked perfectly, the ham was what you expect, and potatoe were the same. My girlfriend, and why this is 5*, got the "Country Style Breakfast". It came with 2 eggs, potatoes, and Country fried steak loaded with a delicious gravy. She absolutely loved it and when I told her I was thinking I'd give this place 4* she said absolutely not!!! I was searching Yelp for a new place to meet my husband for lunch in Mason and found this one. Wow very impressive place to eat! It is a small hometown feeling diner with great service and great food! Almost like a place you would find in a Hallmark movie! We walked in and was greeted by two smiling waitresses. We were properly seated by one of them and told her we've never been here before and asked what she recommended. She did not hesitate and recommend several different dishes. They have lots of a variety to choose from for breakfast, brunch, and lunch. My husband chose the Veggie Omelette with swiss cheese, hash browns, and whole wheat toast. Their omelettes are made with three eggs. It was so big he could only eat half of it. He really liked it. I had their homemade 5 Way Chili and spaghetti. It was so delicious, you could taste the cinnamon in it as well as the heat it was an awesome combination that made the dish really good. Our son got the cheeseburger and fries, he said it was good. We saw other people's orders and they looked really good as well, especially the open faced turkey sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy! All of our orders came out quick and was nice and hot. Came recently as out-of-towners to the grill for brunch with some family while we were visiting. We had to wait quite a bit in order to be seated, because of how small it is inside. Once we were seated, we were asked what we would like to drink by a gruff older woman, who I would come to find us one of the owners of the restaurant. It's a typical diner breakfast fare. I had the Goetta Omelette. Since goetta isn't really something I have at home because it's more of a Cincinnati tradition, I figured when in Rome, right? My husband was very excited, because he could get the entire menu at breakfast time. He had a cheeseburger. He said it was good. This is The worst food I've ever had, The sausages texture is like meatballs half way frozen The gravy was pretty much in chunks and they may have achieved something nearly impossible, messing up a pancake how in the world does somebody mess up a pancake? The eggs just didn't taste good can't really explain it. And afterwords they charge us over $50 plus tax. I also was sick for the next three hours, highly do not recommend!!! As I make my way through the local Mason eateries, my wife and I decided to stop here for a late lunch one afternoon. I'd love to be writing a review about the food experience but unfortunately we were met with such unprofessional and rude service that we decided to take our business elsewhere. We stopped by within an hour of their closing time which I assume was the main driver of the staff's consternation. I figured you are a diner and whipping out some food on the line shouldn't be that big of a deal. Anyways, after walking in my wife, we were not greeted at all but instead stared at by several of the wait staff looking at us like a deer in the headlights. On top of that one of the older "senior" staff was whispering and laughing to the others. Not one "hello" or "how many", etc., just a rude/cold/unprofessional greeting. We found this wonderful family owned restaurant just by chance when we were in Mason Ohio and we are so happy we did. If you want good home style cooked meals than this is the place to go. The staff are amazing. We chatted with the owner and on our final day he gave us some of his delicious potato salad for the road trip home.
