I've been coming to this restaurant (first in Wyoming) for over 20 years. This is no longer my breakfast spot. Mango butter rum pancakes were actually terrible today. No more chunks of mango, and they were real skimpy on the butter rum sauce. Pancakes were dry and crumbly, and our server was barely paying attention. Brought me potatoes that I specifically told her I didn't want, and my friend's eggs were cooked a different way than he ordered. Neither of the last two are mortal sins but cutting corners on your flagship meal is not indicative that things are going well. On our way out the little kid at the cash register asked the standard "how was everything". I said not great, and he replied "ehh, disappointing". Didn't ask a single question about what made the experience bad. I'm no longer willing to drive from Kentucky for this place; there are plenty of mediocre breakfast spots closer. read more

They really have something for everyone! I've not disliked any dishes I've tried. Bowl O' Goodness is my all time fave. This time around, I went with a more traditional breakfast meal, which delicious. I love that they split and grilled the biscuits for the biscuits and gravy - such a great textural twist. Service was with a smile, as always. And it was consistently busy, but the wait for a table was only about 15 min, which was perfect for looking at the menu ahead of time. The seating is pretty nicely spaced, so it is still quite comfortable even when they are super busy. Great for families with or without kiddos. Well lit and average noise level. read more

We met friends for lunch and stopped at Half Day Cafe. It was a nice lunch. The tables are placed nicely and everything is very open, it's a very nice brunch spot. We sat at a table with 5 people and even with it being busy you could still have a great conversation. The place had a very cozy and open atmosphere. I had a Caramel Macchiato Latte with Almond while waiting for others to join me. The server was very friendly and helpful. She suggested great meals to eat and luckily one of the ones she suggested is what I had- Fig, Gouda, Bacon sandwich. I also substituted the bread for gluten free bread. read more

Half day cafe is a family owned business. The service was excellent. The waiter made great recommendations on what to get. I followed his advice and got the carnitas burrito. The carnitas were not greasy and it was delicious. My husband got the breakfast combo. We both agreed that they could have been a little more generous with their diced potatoes. Service was good. The menu offered a large variety including both sweet and savory. Crepes, omelettes, french toast, pancakes and bowls provide a lot of options. Stuffed french toast was good, the compote was very watery. The bowl with red eye gravy tasted better once eaten with other things in the bowl. Ultimately the only serious issues were workers wrapping silverware, dropping pieces, then picking them up to continue wrapping. The other issue was the woman laying on the bench where people wait doing exercises. No one attempted to ask her to sit up, get her feet off the bench, or stop. read more

Our choir (party of 9) stopped here for lunch on the way to a festival in Columbus. The food and the service was great! The honey lavender latte was delicious, even with skimmed milk, and the goetta hash was quite tasty. Hubby enjoyed the strawberry French toast. Excellent food and service. I ordered the basic omelet with spinach and goat cheese. It was excellent. Little Mister ordered a meal plus a chocolate muffin. I ordered their pear salad with a side of chocolate chip pancakes. The pear salad was more for my need of veggies, but it made me feel healthy :). The chocolate chip pancakes are huge and delicious. Was on the prowl for a new breakfast spot to try my recent trip to nati. They just released their fall specials but had my heart in finding great b&g. They offer it as a side, and 2 biscuits and a cup of gravy is very reasonable. Certainly enough to fill my belly and have room for a Hurtz old fashioned donut. We came over from Great Wolf Lodge looking for a good local place. Ooooo did we find a gem. The food was delicious and there was SO MUCH of it. My kids loved their pancakes and I thought the grits were some of the best I've had. Everyone there was friendly and I don't just mean the staff. Several locals came by to say hello to us which was so sweet! I love a place that is truly connected to the community and it makes me feel good about spending money there as a tourist. Enjoyed a wonderful Sunday brunch here with my husband and son. The menu has lots to choose from and features some seasonal additions. The restaurant is casual but nice and it is not overly loud even when it is packed. My husband is a coffee snob and after one sip of his coffee said, "we can definitely come here again!" It was obvious that they take pride in their business and use fresh, quality ingredients in their food and drinks. The breakfast scramble and rosemary potatoes were delicious and fresh tasting. I visited Half Day Cafe for a birthday breakfast, and was left pretty underwhelmed. The food was disappointing, as the labeled "large Applewood Smoked Bacon" was smaller than the average piece of bacon you'd find, at a hefty price of $5. The pancakes were okay, but none of the blueberries were burst/melted. The pancake was tough and hard to chew. the service was nice, but very frustrating. I asked two times for a refill on water and waited 15 minutes to finally receive it, after he had already refilled coffee on the table three times. The restaurant was incredibly busy though, and we waited 30 minutes for a table, so I give the servers some slack. The tables are also pretty close together, and the atmosphere is very loud. Probably won't be coming here again. read more

I came here after seeing a post about these delicious looking grits, and I have had them in South Carolina. These were salty and had a weird texture to me. The fruit and coffee were good. This location is in a plaza with a shared parking lot. We were seated very quickly and our waitress was friendly. They do have gluten free toast which was nice. The interior has tables close together but is wide and open feeling. The food was okay. The potatoes were bland with no seasoning, the bacon was well cooked and the eggs were good. What a great local find! Open for breakfast and lunch, this local spot is serving up really great food with the kindest service around. I highly recommend sitting at the counter for a chat with the owner and great menu recommendations. We order the Bowl O'Goodness and the Egg Strata which are both house specialties. We loved everything! The Bowl O'Goodness is a bowl of cheddar grits topped with carnitas, gravy and two eggs sunny side up. Omg the carnitas were so tender and flavorful. This is served with a biscuit or toast. We will likely order this every time we dine. I loved the Egg Strata which was a little sweet and savory action due to the challah and caramelized onions. This was served with roasted potatoes. I love that this local spot also utilizes local business through their coffee (Seven Hills), breads (16 Bricks) and flowers (a local florist!). The pancakes were one of the best I've ever eaten (only ones close are from a place in Maui) So fluffy and decadent.... Started with hot chocolates, which were a great value as they were large cups with billowing whipped cream and a chocolate drizzle. On to the food, I wanted to try one of their fall features which all sounded amazing. I went with the Fall Quiche. It was so creamy with goat cheese, and a unique spin filled with squash. Also a great deal as the dish comes with a muffin and fresh fruit cup. The Mango Rum Butter pancakes are one of their specialty items. Got an order of those as well as two blueberry pancakes. Okay seriously where has this place been and why has it never shown up on my feed before. Yelp get the word out the best freaking breakfast place on the north side. I mean wow, great service and amazing food. What more can I say. Me and my BFF came in here for a late breakfast and we both got a version of Mocha we ordered breakfast and I ordered French toast to split and a side of bacon. So it as about $50, but remember this is 2 freaking tasty mochas and 3 meals. OMG we were both so stuffed when we left, but not only will we be back, but we are already planning out next visit to try something different on the menu. If you haven't been here before, you are missing out on some of the best breakfast foods ever. I mean don't come here I do t want to have to wait for a table because everyone just found the best place in town to eat. Yep stay away so I can walk in and eat the best food. This seems to be a popular breakfast and brunch spot in Mason. We got to the restaurant around 8:30 a.m. on a weekend, and there weren't too many people. But by the time we left around 9:15 a.m. or so, there was a line waiting to get in. Early bird gets the breakfast without the wait, apparently. I was told to get the Mango Butter Rum Pancakes, but I wasn't in the mood for something that super sweet so early in the morning, so I got the Half Day Benedict instead, which is your typical eggs Benedict, but with a croissant instead of an English muffin. The eggs Benedict was fine. But I need to start listening when people tell me to get a specific dish at a specific restaurant, because I probably would have enjoyed my meal more if I got the pancakes. The eggs Benedict came with rosemary potatoes, but they had a bit too much rosemary. Rosemary is one of those herbs where just a smidgen is more than enough. These potatoes would have been perfect for rosemary fiends. My husband got the biscuits and gravy, and he said the gravy was cold. He's kind of hard to please when it comes to B&Gs, so take his comment as you will. My kids loved their meals: the Combo Breakfast (one egg, one strip of bacon, one buttermilk pancake) and the French Toast. I tasted my kids' food, and I really think that Half Day shines with the sweet foods. The french toast was stellar, and the pancakes were fluffy and delicious. If I visited again, I would definitely get a pancake or french toast breakfast. I would give it 3.5 stars, but as you know, Yelp doesn't allow halfsies, so I'll round up. The service was really good. We had the newbie server (it was his first day!), so he was super attentive and conscientious about everything. We sat on the patio and it was very windy, so keep that in mind if you choose to sit outside. There's like a wind tunnel or something that runs through there, because it was hella windy. read more
