My friend and I made a reservation for our birthday dinner and we had a great time! The restaurant is in the owner's former house so we had to go up steep stairs to the dining area. There are only several tables so a reservation, especially for a large group, is highly recommended. There were 7 of us and we chatted the entire time. The restaurant even prints their menu with slow service snail logo. Because of our party size, we were there for nearly 3 hours while other smaller tables finished sooner. The best items we tried were the mushroom fonduta appetizer, mushroom Wellington, burgers, flourless chocolate cake, and bread pudding dessert. The Wildflower Cafe is the best restaurant I've been to, probably in the 6 years of living in the greater Cincy area. Why? Ingredient integrity, consistency, and inventive. Went here for my birthday dinner, because nobody does it better. The sweet potato bisque was THE BEST soup I've ever tasted. I'd want it as my last meal, it was that incredible. Tasted like fall, without tasting like a candle, if you know what I mean. The hummingbird cocktail with organic prosecco was amazing. If I could, I'd dine here every weekend, just to partake in that drink. The burger and Moroccan frites slapped, per usual. Salad and wagyu were also 15/10. I feel like I wasn't offered a birthday dessert though? I came here on my bday, and I thought that was a thing? The service was multifaceted and on point. The ambience is classic French homestyle. The wine selection and drink selection superb. We had trouble deciding between the appetizers; They all looked so good. The entrées were well executed. I'm kind of in a food coma, right now, trying to write this but I love this place. I had the mushroom en croute in sherry sauce. My husband had the NOLA style fried chicken etouffe. Fun cigar smoking spot outback with ~10 cigars on premise. They go through so much wine that having a wine list is near impossible. I thought the mushroom fondant could have had a little more bulk. The salad was great with the cranberry goat cheese. Food: amazing. The Mushroom Wellington is to die for! We also had a special app and entree. Both very good. Service: very good. Attentive without being overbearing. The disappointment: paying a $15 corkage fee for wine purchased at the restaurant. What?? So wild! Idk if there was signage or a blurb on the menu. Never thought to ask because we bought the wine from them. Wondering if I can bring my own to offset the $15. Kind of outrageous if you ask me. Finally: the space is not very accessible so if you have ADA needs, let them know ahead of time. read more

Wow, wow, wow. Mason Ohio has it going on! This LA gal is blown away as was my family. First of all they completely accommodated all my crazy allergies. The kitchen staff came out to discuss and make needed changes. The restaurant is in a old Victorian house, super cozy. Wine room is very impressive and wine by the glass is top self served in proper Riedel glasses. Beautiful outdoor space for summer sipping. Neighborhood wine and cigar shop plus eclectic menu. Dining on second floor of old house , up a steep wooden staircase , high tops only . Service was prompt and pleasant . Our table had butternut squash dish, mushroom Wellington and fried green tomato BLT, well prepared . My dish was the least expensive at $19. I ordered a glass of Cabernet from the verbal wine list ( nothing in writing ). It was a flavorful Cab- when the bill came , my glass of wine was $20!! This is not LA, it's Warren Co Ohio ! Not just meat and potatoes but food and flavors which expand the dining experience. The wine selections are broad as well. Service is great and goes beyond expectations. Not much to love here. The tables were so close together that every word of every conversation could be heard in the room. Stools with no backs to sit on. A crazy mix of music playing too loudly. Cigar smoke wafting from the patio. The hamburger was certainly not "Cincinnati's Best", but was rather bland, dry, and basic. The bacon on the burger was not freshly cooked, but was tough, chewy and dry. The other dishes were okay, but nothing to write home about. The service was good, friendly, and efficient. Too much time is taken to describe the wines and related information, the specials, soups, and related menu offerings. Things were overly complicated for such simple food. I found this gem on Yelp and decided to give it a try on my last night in town. Major mistake, I should have gone there earlier on my trip so I had time for a return visit! The old farmhouse ambiance was comfortable and cheerful. On a future visit, I might try to enjoy the outdoor seating, too. The truffled mushroom fonduta was a great start to go with a nice glass of prosecco. It had just the right blend of mushrooms and the cheese custard and the bread seemed like it was lightly pan seared but still softly chewy. I don't know how the bacon-wrapped scallops could have been any better. The scallops were cooked perfectly and melted in my mouth around the bacon wrappers, and while I am always wary of grits in restaurants, theirs were soft and quite flavorful when combined with the squash and onions. Although I was already nicely full, I couldn't resist the bread pudding. This was another southern dish that can be hit or miss, but this one was something I'd gladly order on every return trip, no matter what else the dessert menu might offer as a temptation. The bread portion was well-soaked but still firm and tasty with a basic maple/brown sugar flavor, and the sauce was another wonderful treat. The service from TJ was great - he was always ready with information as I looked over the menu and brought me a great glass of Pinot Gris to pair with the scallops. I look forward to my next trip to the Cincinnati area so I can try to work my way through their very interesting menu! Simply put, this was the best restaurant meal I've had in at least the last year or two. read more

My husband and I tried this out for date night, and so happy we did! It's a cute old house, converted into a restaurant. There's limited seating so make sure you make a reservation! We were quickly greeted by the manager who gave us tour of the outdoor space, then the wine room where all the wines are at retail pricing plus corking fee (great deal!), then upstairs where we ate in a quaint space. The server was very knowledgeable and gave recommendations for the truffle mushroom fonduta, tuna salad nicoise and the chef's special surf and turf. The ingredients are farm to table and certified organic!!! Need I say more! I wish there was more seating outside since it was such a beautiful night, but there was only one table, and a section covered with cigar smoking. Maybe a deck on the back would be a nice addition! We called ahead based on advice from another review. The top floor was rented out, so the only option was outside and walk in only. It wasn't that warm outside, so we thought we would give it a try. The seating choices were two top cafe tables or outdoor sectionals under a covering with fans. We took the sectional seating. It was a very relaxed atmosphere. The server was friendly and told us the specials, along with the prices for each. We had the fried green tomatoes, grass fed hamburger, and wild flower salad with chicken. The chicken was very tender, and I have never had a salad so tasty, The food is locally sourced. I could tell a difference in how I felt after eating this food. It made you feel good instead of stuffed and bloated like a typical restaurant. The salad was a WILDFLOWER SALAD local greens + cranberry goat cheese + marcona almond + pickled ginger + lemon riesling crème fresh. The dressing was amazing. I also enjoyed the pickled ginger. Later, the chef came out to check on the food and gave us and the others outside a free appetizer to try. The employees at this restaurant really seemed to enjoy their job, and to me, that says a lot for a place of employment. We will be back again. I have wanted to try Wildflower Cafe for quite some time, and last date night we finally pulled the trigger. First, it's a lovely building that makes a great impression. Beautiful outdoor seating and lovely intimate atmosphere inside, perfect for a date night. Our service was great and our server was very polite and professional. We started with a cheese dip that was absolutely fantastic. Next, we ordered the crab cakes and beef Wellington. We only eat red meat on special occasions, so we were very excited to try it. It came out sort of deconstructed, and we were disappointed in the taste and presentation. It is not something we would order again, especially for the price point. However, the crab cakes were stuffed full of crab, some of the best I've had, and we were thrilled with this choice. All in all we enjoyed ourselves here and I would return. The Wildflower is a nice place in an old house. It has been around awhile and gets lots of positive reviews. They are one of the few restaurants in Mason that are independent and locally owned. It has a good list of cocktails. The food comes from local and organic sources. It is an old house. Enter it from the back side. There's a small patio with some tables. It was cool this day so we ate inside. The main floor has tables for larger groups, but of course it has limited room. It's the size of a two story farm house, after all. The second floor has a bar that's decorated with old album covers, and walls covered with many reviews. It has some pretty good sounding cocktails. The food menu is pretty simple. I had the Dean Martin. It's about $8 for a highball glass. This is made with lime juice, Mexican Coke, and Tito's. I had the Harvest Salad because it was about the only vegetarian option for lunch. It's $7 for the lunch portion. This is made with fresh kale and several vegetables. It's pretty good if there's only a couple and not a large group. Since the place is so small you may not be able to all fit. The bar is a nice place and much quieter. read more

I have been waiting for the perfect time to dine at The Wildflower Cafe, and my fiance took upon himself, and brought me here for my birthday! We came in Mid-January, and I had such a great experience. **Tip** Make A reservation!! They make them by the hour only (7pm, 8pm, 9pm...) We arrived, and parking is wonky, but you find a place behind the restaurant (which is a house converted to dining) or in the grassy area on the side. Ladies if you have heels, have your date drop you off at the rear. As soon as we walk into the patio area (which look super cute for a summer-time hang-out) I knew things were going to be great. We walked inside, and immediately met with a view of the kitchen, walk-in and smells coming from the working kitchen. We were greeted promptly and seated right away since we had a reservation. A very intimate setting, inside the house which probably used to be the living room/parlor area. You are close together, but you are comfy with your table that you can be caught up in your own conversation and world. They have a giant chalkboard menu sharing details of their local wine, and beer selections since they were names in the top 100 wine list. There is another chalkboard on the adjacent wall with a map of Ohio sharing where food and beverages come from. ALL LOCALLY SOURCED! yay! To the food.We started with the Truffled Mushroom Fonduta and OMG, I wanted to lick the entire dish it came in and the perfect mini baguette that came with it was warm, and soft and crispy on the outside. I had the special yellow-fin tuna in an acorn squash with a rice and veggie medley. This was amazing, and I will dream about it forever and ever. My fiance has the Grassland Graze burger and salad as his side. The burger was cooked a little more done then he asked (medium), but it was delicious and a large size. We both had drinks, he a Sonder brew and I tried a fresh cocktail, the Mango Wild Claw, which comes with fresh mango puree! Our server was amazing, he was very attentive, and I wish I remembered his name, but he was great! Server was attentive and helpful explaining how to order wine and the specials. Everything we ordered was excellent. The Fried Green Tomatoes appetizer stood out to all four of us. I hate to write bad reviews, I used to love this place, now more of a wine bar and wine shop. They do have great wines. The food was pricey for what you got. I ordered the hamburger, I remember I loved them, good topping but for me, medium is pink no red. I asked and they said it was med. so closed my eyes and ate it. The toppings very good and the fries but $19 a lot in Ohio. They have several interesting dishes and they looked good but also very pricey. The seating upstairs stools no backs and downstairs just one really big table. I think it would be a lovely place to sit outside and have a wine and appetizers but doesn't feel so much like a high scale restaurant anymore. Sorry love eating local! read more

From start to finish, the meal we had at wild flower cafe was awesome. It was my first time there and I will definitely be returning. We had the ribeye appetizer and it was to die for. We had salmon and the ribeye entrees. Both were amazing. The salmon was crispy on the outside and tender and flaky on the inside. The ribeye was cooked perfectly, paired with an amazing dipping sauce. We opted for the bread pudding for dessert and it was one of the best desserts I've had in a long time. Overall, this place is worth trying out. Definitely call ahead and make a reservation. The restaurant is small and only sits about 50 people. The staff was also great.
