I was really rooting for this place and excited to try it - but my experience was mediocre at best. I got carryout and tried the staples, 2 buttermilk pancakes and 2 scrambled eggs. The pancakes were decent, I also ordered the real maple syrup because I don't want to eat Smucker's synthetic chemical version with high fructose corn syrup etc. My issue was with the eggs. The cook literally cracked 2 eggs, scrambled them up, and served them. ZERO seasoning, salt, pepper, no butter, what the heck? I can make way better at home by adding butter and seasoning. Price was decent too. I won't be back because the industry is too competitive for mediocre product. read more

Starting out with the good - the food is very good. We had a sausage quiche, biscuits and gravy, a goetta omelette, eggs hollandaise, a raspberry macchiato, a sugar free vanilla brevet, and a cocktail. All were delicious. The service was also good, especially considering how busy the place was on a Sunday morning. Getting a table for 5 seemed to be a challenge for this place. We were given a wait time of 30-35 minutes. We observed multiple open side-by-side 2 tops that could be pushed together with a chair added to accommodate us, yet we waited 50 minutes while nearly everyone that came in after us was seated. Where were we finally seated? At 2 two tops pushed together which could have been done at least a dozen times. The manager was working hard to help turn over tables but needs more oversight with regard to parties larger than 2 because critical thinking skills are lacking with the hostess team. read more

Amazing food, quick service, great latte/cappuccino options. Goetta hash was one of the best breakfast diner meals we've ever tried.

The part of the order that was correct - the Huevos Divorciados - was really good. The other part was a miss - we ordered a Cheese Steak Benedict - and received a Creole Fries Green Tomato Benedict. The grilled cheese was good. The stuffed French toast was disappointing. A bit soggy and it looked and tasted like they scooped some canned cherry pie filling on top. A great breakfast spot! Even though they were busy, the server was attentive and kind. My kids devoured their meals. I appreciated there were multiple sizes of the kids meals so my 2 year old and 8 year old could get different sized kids meals. They all got bacon, pancakes, and eggs and ate almost all of it! I got a white chocolate raspberry mocha, which was a little sweet for my taste. I got a half day Benedict which was good. The restaurant and bathrooms were clean. Early morning traveling back to Dayton, we found this gem (reviews were great! And true). We had a pitcher of delish bloody Mary's and two breakfast combo plates. The toast and French toast were so delish (and our belly's were so full) we couldn't bare leave them behind, thank goodness for Togo boxes! The first thing I noticed about this place is how fast everything comes out. Maybe we caught them at a slow time but I'm used to waiting much longer. I would strongly recommend their muffins and the burrito. They were both bursting with flavor and very satisfying. I wasn't a huge fan of the mango butter rum syrup but that may be me since it's one of their specialties. I would also highly recommend their coffee. First time back since COVID started and it tastes even better than I remembered. I sampled everyone's meals. If you like bland grits, don't get theirs. Theirs are amazing and flavorful and taste like the ultimate comfort food. Sweet potato pancakes, well, they taste like fall. We ended up going here on a wim based on the reviews. The inside is fairly small but big enough. Wasnt all that busy at 730am but seemed to slowly start filling up. It seemed like there were alot of regulars and they definitely got more attention than us. This was on a Saturday. You can see the food we got below in my pictures. My stuffed french toast was good but also very sweet. I'd have probably got that to share with my girlfriend and a different dish as my actual meal. Her dish (forgot the name) was very good. The grits were cheesy, the sauce was a little spicy (but not too much), the pork was great and not too fatty. And the eggs were cooked as she asked. The potatoes were also good. The prices were definitely higher than expected for breakfast and my dish came with no side. The waitress said most people add a meat but for (I believe) $3.50 extra I declined. Maybe I just dont eat breakfast out enough... If I hadn't tried my girlfriends food this would be a 3* for sure but hers made up for it. My experience at Half Day Cafe could best be described as "fine". There wasn't anything bad about the experience but there wasn't anything particularly great either. I came for brunch with a friend on a weekday morning close to Christmas. We had to wait about ten minutes to get a table which wasn't a big deal. The waitress was busy but she was pretty efficient with getting our order etc. I tried a dish called "divorced eggs". It is a Mexican inspired egg dish. It was ok but lacking the complexity of flavors that I was expecting. All in all if you want a quick and simple breakfast, check them out but I don't think I'll return. read more

We love this breakfast spot in Mason! Covid friendly, they've put up plastic walls between the very distanced tables and people friendly. They are so friendly, welcoming with great service. Coffee pot with hot coffee keeps coming, everyone is nice and talkative without being intrusive. It's great! The food is also great. So far I've had the pancakes (light and fluffy without a hint of overdone), the grits (great flavor and texture without feeling heavy), turkey sausage (so good you won't miss the fat and calories of regular), and their biscuits with honey butter (warm, flakey layers of delicious!). It's hard to get good fresh fruit at this time of the year in Ohio but the fruit was great too, no overripe grapes or hard tasteless melon. Each piece, strawberries included, was appropriately ripe and tasty and there wasn't just melon. Pineapple, grapes, strawberry and melon, none too hard and none too soft, i ate every piece. I don't think I've ever been able to say that about a winter fruit bowl in the Midwest. There is a separate to go window and the Mason location has online ordering. So, I highly recommended trying it, it's a great locally owned, local source restaurant. Once we ordered our food it did take awhile for us to get it. Would not recommend going here if you're in a hurry. My youngest and I stopped in for a "school's out for summer" brunch while we were running some errands. Start to finish, our experience kept her wide-eyed! "Everyone is so nice here" she said repeatedly. A gentleman (perhaps the owner) was teasing her, offering her a job to wash dishes so she could "pay for the old man's meal." I'm just guessing and giving the owner (Dale), the benefit of the doubt that he didn't realize our party of 10 was all together but had to be seated separately as he rushed one of the tables out for another large party. It's one thing to turn over your tables quickly. It's another to approach the table four times in under five minutes of us sitting down expecting us to order. If you want to visit over coffee with a friend find another place. They were trying to clear our plates while they still had food on them and they took our water glasses when we were still drinking our lattes. The irony is they had forgotten to drop off the check so we had to ask for it. We weren't even there an hour and we had not even gotten fully out of our seat when the manager was at the table trying to wipe it down. There were other tables of two open the people waiting were all larger parties. The service will make me not go back. The food is ok. The mango butter rum sauce was not my favorite and they soak the French toast in it.
