We really wanted to like Mezedes Restaurant more than we did. It seems to be run by a nice family and service was fine. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant was clean and pleasant.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It was the food we ordered that lacked. Maybe we just made poor choices. As we ordered, we saw many hamburgers come out of the kitchen, and they looked really delicious. We were hoping to find a little healthier fare, though, so even though we were tempted by the burgers and the overwhelmingly positive yelp reviews for the gyros, we went with other items from their menu. Hubby tried a new menu item, which was a chicken salad gyro. He said that the idea and the flavor was fine, but the chicken was really dry. It was not that it lacked sauce, but just that the chicken itself had been overcooked or held warming too long. I went with what they had labeled as a Greek dinner. The description on the menu chalkboard described sautéed onions and peppers along with some rice, pita and choice of meat. I guess I had kind of envisioned a platter with all of those items which could be put together in different combinations, with some colorful crisp veggies like we have had at other Greek/Mediterranean restaurants. When my food came out and I saw it for the first time, I actually said "No, that's not what I ordered." I found out, though, that it is indeed what I ordered, but not what I visualized. It was a bowl with rice at the base. The rice was totally covered by kind of a stewed onion mixture that was a brownish gray. It was entirely covering all of the rice and pieces of gyro meat. It was more like a bowl of stew or thickened French onion soup. The onions no longer had any texture to them as they were totally cooked down. Pretty much just all onions. If there had been peppers in there, I could not recognize any. Maybe they had also been cooked so much that they were unrecognizable. OK, I can eat rice with some stewed onions and bits of meat, so I just dug in. Everything was just all mixed together in one note. There was nothing that was a different flavor or texture in the concoction. It was also kind of unappealing sour, maybe lemon or vinegar? It was OK for the first few bites and I could get through it, but I really was pretty done with it halfway through. The pita slices on the side, were pretty good, but not really what I hoped would be the highlight of the meal. If we come back again, I think we should stick to a burger or gyro. read more

One of our fav gyro spots! Portions are big so my husband and I usually share an order of gyro fries with Greek dressing on the side (I personally don't think gyro fries are gyro fries without the Greek dressing but my husband can do without). Topping portions are generous as they load up with meat and feta; pricing is fair. I always find myself craving Mezedes on days they are closed so be aware of the schedule! read more

Mezedes remains a staple and one of my favorite Greek places I've found in Cincinnati! They always offer very fast and efficient service with high quality meals. The staff is always friendly and welcoming. They do a large amount of their business as carry out, but I also often eat there. My go to is the Chicken dinner as it comes with rice, mixed peppers, pita, and tzatziki. They offer generous portions, allowing me to typically get multiple meals out of it, making it very reasonably priced. They recently offered a special of a Baklava cheesecake that was absolutely delicious. I highly recommend Mezedes (and never skip the baklava)! read more

Two of us went for Friday lunch. There are about a dozen tables, two and four seaters. The food came quickly. I got the Greek Dinner, half gyro meat and half pork. It was big and good. Gyro meat was seasoned, the pork not. Tzatziki was great. I would get it again. Also ordered was the Spicy gyro, which was meaty and spiced, not just hot spice. It was reported to be good. Discovered this little gem using CincySavers.com. So glad they advertised! Portions of all foods very generous and well worth the money--even without using the coupon! The gyro was overflowing with tender meat and had a nice spiciness to it. The small salad could have been enough food by itself but I had to try everything! Loved their Greek dressing, too. The food has always been good. Highly suggest the gyro with extra meat. It was very flavorful. The tzatziki could have had a little more flavor and they could have given us more than a tiny cup for the extra money we were charged. We have only done carry out and the staff has always been nice. First of all, I'm a gyro lover. Their gyros are delicious and very generous with the meat. I like the Greek salad too, and recommend it. BUT THE FRIES! If you aren't sure what you want to eat, order a double portion of fries. They are VERY GOOD! And be sure to do yourself a favor and eat them while they're fresh. ( I usually eat them on the way home in the car ) The service is quick and polite, and the inside is clean. I recommend eating here. read more

We stumbled upon this restaurant while visiting the area and are so glad we did! Our party ordered the Mezedes appetizer, Greek fries, classic gyro, Mediterranean wrap, southwest gyro and Philly gyro--all with classic gyro meat. The food was absolutely delicious and perfectly fresh! Our entrees were generously sized and loaded with plenty of their delicious meat. The restaurant was very clean--including the bathroom. Our server/cashier was very friendly and made sure we weren't stuck with empty plates at our table, which I appreciated. I wish I lived nearby so I could dine there more often! Mezedes is a first generation Greek family run business. They offer Greek Street Food in an up and coming part of Loveland. The restaurant itself is reasonably sized with plenty of parking and nice tables inside. I ordered online for take out and the process was very simple. I chose the Classic Gyro which was sneakily wrapped. I took it out of the bag and was surprised it seemed small.... until I unwrapped it and the meat nearly shot out like a trick snake out of a pringles can. Damn there was so much high quality meat packed into this thing, it was heavy! I do have to say the ratio of meat to that of tomato, tzatziki, onion, and pita was a little off... but hey its a better value that way! I also ordered the greek fries which were very crispy and hot, another generous portion... and unlike other places that drown their greek fries in tangy dressing... these had the perfect amount of just seasoning and feta! Finally I had the baklava for desert. Growing up with a greek side of the family I have had this dish a million times at a million different places... but here it was different. It was a large almost fluffy piece of pastry... with the perfect ratio of philo dough, sweetness and nuts. It wasn't super dense as with other versions or sicky sweet and I AM HERE FOR IT! I got the lunch special of a chicken gyro sandwich, fries, and drink to go. Awesome value for the price and I couldn't even finish it all. Friendly staff that will improve as this restaurant just opened (we had to ask for utensils) and are just inexperienced. Reasonably priced considering quality of ingredients. Everything was fresh and Kalamata olives and feta cheese were of good quality. Several variations on gyros and the traditional shave lamb is still the best. Good Greek salad in 2 sizes. Stopped in for the first time this evening and really enjoyed it! Classic gyro was delicious, as were the fries. My wife and I shared an order of fries which was perfect, they give you a lot. The tsatziki sauce was a bit thicker than I'm used to, probably made with Greek yogurt, but tasted great. I also thought that the meat could have used a bit more seasoning but, again, tasted great.
