This review is for the East River Center, Covington, KY location. I don't understand why this restaurant isn't packed. The restaurant is large, clean, bright and quuiet, with lots of booth seating. All the furniture looks new. My server, Kara, was prompt and very friendly. The menu has a lot of variety, and the prices are very reasonable. I had the Greek burger, and it was excellent, juicy and cooked just right. This location is very close to the Roebling bridge, just down the street from the Gruff, and close to the hotels on the KY side of the river. Do yourself a favor, give this place a try. I've been back to Demetrios V three times for breakfast now, and I'm impressed. Today I got a ham and cheese omelette with home fries and wheat toast. First, they use deli ham instead of diced ham, which made me happy. Their home fries are excellent and plentiful. The toast gas just the right amount of butter, and they offer three kinds of jelly. All that for under $11. The first time I got breakfast there, I ordered a cheese omelette with potatoes and toast, and got a side of sausage, thinking I'd need that extra bulk in my meal. I definitely didn't, and wasn't able to finish the meal, although my tongue kept telling me it wanted to taste more. So, trust them on portion size; you'll have enough. read more

Demetrios is a regular diner. It's not a Greek restaurant, as many believe it is. They have regular American food, for cheap prices. It's not a pretty diner. This place looks as if it's been there a long time. I couldn't find anything I wanted to eat. Even though I was disappointed by that, I still found the place charming. This is what a real diner should be like. It's completely unpretentious and they treat customers like family. Maybe like a dysfunctional family at times. It seems to be the busiest at breakfast. This is a great find for people living around Golf Manor. It's similar to PRC but easier to get to and accepts credit cards. I'm actually really excited to have found it - it's set in a strip mall next to the UDF and across from the Hebrew school, so it's easy to miss. I went for lunch and got carry out. The place was clean and quiet (had a bit of an older clientele, at least at lunchtime), the service was friendly, and the wait was less than 10 minutes for a Greek burger with fries. The burger was good - not too different tasting from a regular burger except for the sauce. The gyro meat got lost in the mix as far as flavor, but it was still a good diner burger. The fries it came with were seasoned, which was delicious, but it actually needed a bit more seasoning to me because it was so good. I'll definitely go back to this place, probably pretty regularly since it's a short walk from my house! read more

Found my go to for gyros! The tzatziki sauce was so good and the gyro meat was cooked just right. A little crisp on the ends but not burned. I also had the pleasure of tasting the half gyro half burger and it was really tasty too. And the service was really good too. Can't beat that! read more

Ordered a fried chicken dinner to go. Good deal as they give a half chicken with 2 sides and a dinner roll. The mixed vegetables were good while the potatoes were plain. We decided to try Demetrios V based on two recent recommendations from friends. It was a rainy Sunday morning on July 4th weekend. We arrived at 9 AM, their only customers at the time. They offer a good, basic diner breakfast at a VERY affordable price. Two of us had a substantial breakfast for way under $20 including beverages and 20% tip. The two servers were friendly and showed up at just the right time, never intrusive. Coffee was above average, which is always a plus with me. (If it tastes like the pathetic coffee from an office Bunn machine, I won't be back). Unlike many other small town or strip mall diners, the interior of this restaurant is clean and modern, including the flatware, dishes and coffee mugs. The downside is that we didn't find anything unique or compelling to tell friends and neighbors. For me, all it would take is fresh baked goods or something other than toast made from bread that came out of a grocery store bag. Bottom line: Demetrios V is a dependable local diner and I hope our Pleasant Ridge / Golf Manor / Amberley Village community will support it. It felt comfortable and we will be back. read more

Its so close to me, I really want to like it. Breakfast is good, eggs, goetta, hasbrowns. Dinner options are hit and miss. Gyro was rated high, yet mine came out cold. The fryer oil definitely needs cleaned. The cook and one of the servers are really nice. I came here with a coworker for lunch and immediately felt a warm reception. The color combination was modern for a traditional style family diner. We had gyro on the brain but because I'm such a skeptic and I always compare every gyro in the city to Sebastian's I knew I wouldn't be able to rate my experience fairly. In lieu of my bias I ordered a greekburger. House made Ground gyro meat sirloin into a patty served on a Kaiser roll with tahini and the traditional fixins for a gyro. The best intro for a place I've never been. Phenomenal is the best way to describe it! Juicy gyro goodness! I'm completely satisfied with this experience. Prices on the menu items are fair and there are tons of items on the menu that wet my appetite. I'm definitely coming back to this spot. It's a foodie wet dream! read more

Messed up order and refused to correct it. Was charged extra for onions on two entrees and got lettuce and tomatoes no onions. Ask for scrambled egg with cheese got a fried hard egg with two slices of cheese on it the refuse to melt. Ask for a side of fries and never recieved. Service sucks food was sub par. If I lived here in the city, I would definitely come back! I grew up right up the street and to have a good local restaurant in the area is great to see. I had the gyro and it was simple, but good! The place was clean, the staff was very nice. Our waitress had only been working here 4 days and she did a great job. Let me start with... Holy cow the portions are huge! I ordered the Greek burger and fries, the burger had a mix of ground beef and gyro meat mixed, sautéed onions, pickles, lettuce, tomatoes, cheese and tzatziki sauce. Yum. Huge amount of fries with Greek seasoning. The place was surprisingly nice on the inside and service was good. We stoped on a Sunday b/c many of the other places we were looking at were closed. So they get an extra star for that. I took a star off b/c of needing $5.00 to use a credit card there my check came out to $4.80 and I honestly feel like they should have just ignored the rule b/c I was so close. I had the two eggs, toast and goetta breakfast that was 4.50 and 4.80 after tax. I guess the prices were reasonable. The food was cooked good and as ordered. My friend that was with me go the Turkey sandwich and a soup and it looked good too. They said for over 9 months that they would pay me, but I've been used & lied to. Instead they've bought new cars.
