I first wrote a review in December 2024. We have eaten in the dining room here many times since. This weekend we had family in from out of town. There were dietary restrictions for some (diabetes, so low sugar/starch; heart disease so no large amounts of salt, etc.) We ordered carry out but had to pick and choose what we got. Their routine combinations listed on their menu would not work for those with dietary restrictions. The staff had no problems preparing our take-out order in such a way that we could skip fries, but order triple servings of tabouli, different meats, etc. We really appreciated how willing they were to meet our needs and the family 1 pm dinner went very well! Ordered form this place on Saturday afternoon and it was a total disappoint. We ordered the MacLouba platter and a Gyro. The MacLouba tasted like nothing f but pepper and oil, it did not have chicken as described and the Gyro never arrived. I filed a complaint and did not get a refund or some sort of compensation. Wow! My new favorite west side place! Went to our "go to" on Sunday and they were closed. Looked for something close by and found them. What a gold mine! Ordered mega gyros, gyro fries and flafal apps. Omg!!! Soooo good! The restaurant was quiet. We went at an odd hour so only one take full of customers. The service was amazing. So helpful and friendly. This is now my new "go to" on the west side. My daughter goes to college just down the road and she will be taking her friends there too! Love this place! Where do I start!!! Right out the door lol the service was phenomenal, which complemented the very delicious food; my best friend and I went because we wanted some lamb chops. Ms. Joyce. Or Ms. Joy was our server and also at the front; she had the best attitude and made suggestions even gave us a sample of an item we had never tried. I had dinner at Baba's last night for the second time. The food was ok. The server was very nice. When I went to the counter to pay, I asked about the $3.00 addition to my bill. She said it is the credit card fee and there is a sign somewhere in front. Sure enough there was a small notice below the cash register that said this. I also ordered the hummus with pita. The pita was perfectly toasted. If you're familiar with Palestinian vs Israeli hummus then you know the flavor and consistency difference. The Shawarma Grill is a great locally owned establishment located on the West Side of the tracks. It has a small town feel and is independently owned. The food here is really good, the bathrooms are clean, the the servers are really nice. This is a no-judgment atmosphere where everyone feels like family and you are welcomed with warm and loving smiles from everyone. I would recommend this as a good place to take the kids to try something new! They are quite tolerant and accepting of others. read more

Blah! I was in the mood for Mediterranean and most of the reviews were yay for this place, but its a no from me. The menu sign at the drive thru does not display the full menu nor the prices. I ordered the falafel and the hummus appetizers. The falafel wasn't green, it was more of a brownish color inside and out. It also had a weird days old leftover taste. The tzatziki tasted fresh at the first layer, then it tasted like warm watery goop. My hummus was bland with a bit of a burnt twang to it and to make matters worse, they topped it with about 1/3rd cup of oil. Gross! Customer service was on point, food not so much. read more

Pretty sure this place is under new ownership. They dont have the seasoned rally fries like they used to, just plain ole fries with some lawrys on top. Not that good. Also, their taziki sauce used to be 10 x's better with reall cucumber shreds and nice and thick. Now its watery with like oregano in it. The gyro was alright, but not great. Rather just go down one more block to Santorinis. This place gone down hill since it opened. Disappointing, used to be authentic now knock off!!! Smh read more

My husband and I found this little gem on Harrison Ave. in Cheviot quite by accident. We were both in the mood for a gyro and it was a Sunday and all the Greek places were closed. I remember seeing the Baba Shawarma Grill sign in front of their restaurant and we checked it out. They were open on Sunday's. It has been 2 years since then and we have been back at least once or twice a week ever since. The servers are amazing. They are always efficient, happy and polite and they always make us feel welcome. The food is delicious. There is a wide variety of Mediterranean food which is awesome but their fish, burgers and chicken tenders (which my grandchildren like) are also quite good. The price is very reasonable. We love Baba's and will continue to visit. I definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone!!!! read more

This is absolutely one of those "don't judge a book by its cover" situations. I'll be the first to admit that the building doesn't have the greatest curb appeal (it's operating out of an old Captain D's...which I found hilarious because I am a fool for Captain D's), and the inside isn't much to shout about either, but let's be honest...nobody's trying to eat the decor. What you ARE eating, however, is awesome. I'm a real foodie, not that I've-lived-in-Cincinnati-my-entire-life-and-stuff-here-is-great kinda foodie, rather, an I've-lived-all-over-domestically-and-abroad kinda foodie. I asked the server what the best seller on the menu was, and she directed me towards the spiced gyro with fries. O. M. Goodness. One bite and I was transported back to Paris in 1998 when I studied abroad for the summer and only knew how to ask for things like wine, cheese, and gyros in French. Baba's reminded me of what I loved the most about those great French gyros: perfectly tender, perfectly spiced meat served with super-fresh veggies and wonderfully crispy fries. If you don't trust any other recommendation on yelp (and really, a lot of them are questionable for the whole I've-clearly-never-been-outside-the-state-of-Ohio business), trust this one. I can't speak for anything else on the menu other than the spiced gyro, but you better believe I'll be going back to check out a few more things. Two thumbs up. read more

The place is no frills and it's fast foody appearance might be less intimidating for some. The seats and interior are no different than when it was a Captain D's restaurant, and could probably use some updating. The free WiFi makes up for a lot of the shortcomings of the place. I noticed a man with his Kindle reading a book and enjoying some food. Nice. I'll be back and look forward to trying some different items off their menu. read more

Ok Baba's! A weird spin on the gyro that I really didn't like. They "Americanize" it and definitely ruin the authenticity of it simple Greek predecessor. They add lettuce and tomato like it's a burger and you can make it spicy which was also a little different than I've had. I was having a rough day so it was good in a pinch but it was more expensive than it should've been for the price and it took 20 minutes to come out which is weird since all they needed to do was shave it? The fries weren't hot when it came out so honestly I'm not sure why it took so long. I wish they had a check in offer. I think that would've help. The building is okay and the dine in area is average, but the food is great. I recommend take-out and they have a drive up window so you don't even have to go inside. The best for me is the spicy gyro platter, which comes with does and salad. If you like spicy, you have to give it a try. You can substitute chicken as well if you like. They even have a drive thru window which has come in super handy during COVID-19 quarantine. The lady who owns it is my spirit animal- she's got an ethereal hippy badass vibe and calls all of her customers names like "babydoll" and I always end up leaving feeling more special than when I walked in after interacting with her! Now that customer service has been addressed, I'll say that the food is outstanding and the menu is extensive. We love coming here because there is so much variety ; definitely something for everyone in the family! We typically get the following items when we come: gyros, chicken shawarma, Greek fries, baba ganoush, to name a few! The Greek fries are by far a family favorite and staple! Prices are extremely reasonable, too (which is probably why we end up over-ordering every time!) This place has all the perks of fast food (convenience, cost) - but with elevated food deliciousness. The customer service is always friendly and the food arrives fast. Other favorites are: The Greek Salad (which you can add gyro meat too), Baba Ghanoush (simply outstanding), and Hummus. The Baba Bhanoush and Hummus are served with very fresh, warmly toasted pita. If you're dining in, this is not a fancy place. It's very simple and located in a former "Captain D's" restaurant. The woman taking the order was extremely friendly and was wearing all sorts of fun greek jewelry. I did have high hopes. I liked the gyro - the meat and pita were really good. The lettuce didn't belong there. And, the tzatziki wasn't good. Too much dill and not enough cucumber taste. The greek fries were awesome - crispy and lots of seasoning and feta. However, about 3AM, I started getting severe stomach pains. I don't know if they use MSG or what was going on but I felt like I had a lead ball in my stomach for about 4 hours. This place definitely does a decent gyro, but unfortunately decent is about the best I could describe it. The meat isn't anything different from all the other places around town, the pita is microwaved at best, and the sauces are very bland. The amount of veggies you get with the spicy platter with salad is actually pretty good, and the rice was surprisingly not over done or crispy from having sat too long, but for the cost the whole plate was pretty underwhelming. If you absolutely must have a gyro and you're on the block you might as well walk in, but there are MUCH better options around the city, and even the neighborhood. Friendly staff and a drive through makes this place 3 stars instead of two though, because seriously a drive through gyro spot is like one of the best ideas ever... shame the food doesn't live up to it. read more

I just had a gyro from ali baba's across town, it was really good but still can't touch babas. Still the best out of the six or so gyro places I have frequented around cinci, and one of the cheaper at $6.50 for spicy gyro.
