Damn that was a tasty shawarma. Almost as good as being in Turkey. Seriously the best I've had in the States, and I've had a lot.

I stopped by for a quick lunch during the week and wanted an easy to-go sandwich. They have a medium sized menu but a lot of different options which makes it a bit hard to pick haha! I decided on a reuben sandwich with all of the fixens inside. I was surprised that I was the only one in there because of the amount of rave reviews. It was a small quaint little place. The employees were suppperrrr nice and gave me a lot of time to think about my order. The vibes in there were very cool with fun music and just overall a good time. Now onto the Reuben. Holy cow! It was juicy and very flavorful, with the perfect amount of sauerkraut. The bread was toasty and the sandwich was nice and warm but not too hot. I think this will be a new spot for me for lunch!

Essentially for me I had waited too long to eat and the idea of waiting longer was a non starter for me. Sandwiches are not my go to food outside the house, it seems silly on some level. However, the sandwich I had was fantastic and well balanced. There was a good amount of everything without it being too much. Sometimes it's too much. This was great. They also had good, homemade or freshly made sides like potato salad and other salads you could get. It was great.

I have a busy week ahead and knew I didn't want to spend time cooking so I was looking for pre-prepared meals! Lean Kitchen was the answer to my needs! Location: Right off of Red Bank Road, with plenty of parking options. Service: I was greeted by a super friendly woman working the front desk and she answered all of my questions and went through each of the food options with me. It seems like she even knew which customers were regulars, which shows how much they value customer service. Price: its a little up there. You can get 10 meals for $80. Cheaper than eating your lunch and dinner out every day but likely more than the cost of a weeks worth of groceries. Luckily the ease and the variety of the meals helps make the decision to purchase easier. Food: So far I've only had the Sweet and Sour chicken... PERFECT. It had a little kick to it but was flavorful. I definitely feel full after finishing despite the fact that it's not a huge portion. I have many more to try, but the other customers in the store raved about all the options. Including the bang bang tacos and cheeseburger bowls. I also saw some pastas, chili, salmon and veggies, chicken and rice dishes, tacos and more. And I arrived at the END of the day! I'm excited to try more and am thrilled that these items are healthy and not frozen. It makes paying a little more worth it. Inside: there's tables inside to dine, and a microwave to heat your dish. So if you're hungry and don't want to take it home (or are looking for lunch) you can certainly eat there. Also, I was in the store for about 10 minutes and 3 different customers came in to shop so it is popular. Im looking forward to returning to Lean Kitchen next week and giving the dishes I purchased a try this week. I love the location, food, convenience, and service! And I always LOVE supporting Black owned businesses! A true 5 star spot to check out!

I did the build your own salad with Iceberg Romaine, Herb Pulled Chicken, Ghost Pepper Jack Cheese, Banana Peppers, Broccoli, Carrots, Edamame, Croutons and Avocado Ranch dressing. This Green District location seems hellbent on vaporizing the term "fast casual" from the American…read morelexicon. Because "fast" is an unknown word at this place. The good first, though: Whatever the flaws in its business model, Green District still turns out well-conceptualized salads that always seem fresh and tasty. The Hide & Go Greek is a very nice chicken one with a robust, terrific dressing. The Thai One On salad is (you guessed it) an Asian-influenced one with shrimp, lots of cabbage and cilantro, and a kind of generic but fresh-tasting Asian-style ginger-heavy dressing. Also very good. Fortunate thing you can order online and don't have to verbalize those unwieldy salad names to a fellow human. (But if you think those names are bad, another one wants you to hold its beer: the Tequila Mockingbird.). Anyway, the food gets this to three stars, but only barely. Alas, the service at this location is a shambles. Count on at least a 35-minute wait, even if you order right after 11am, when things presumably ought not to be backed up. And it looks like chaos back there--just not enough employees back there, most likely. Last time it took this restaurant an incomprehensible 50 minutes to get my salad out. (Who with a regular lunch "hour" downtown has time for this?) Credit to the unflappable and put-upon young fella at the end of the line; he kept doing his job steadily and kept cheerful about it. The manager is always madly rushing about and isn't nearly as cheery (but it almost certainly isn't her fault, either). It astonishing that the food can be is good as it is in this environment. There's something very wrong about this restaurant's business model when the family-run lunch spot down the street (seemingly just as many orders) can crank out your to-go salad (as good as here, for the most part) in three to five minutes and be as friendly as they can be about it. Whoever came up with the plan has some major issues to resolve.

One evening I made a special trip down Riverside to visit. I really enjoyed this stop and will have to make a special trip again in the future. For starters, their smoked & stuffed jalapeños are delightful ($10)! Sausage, cream cheese, and cheddar are all inside, wrapped with bacon and smoked. They come served with house BBQ sauce on the side, but you may not even need it. The smoke flavor is really there on the bacon and mixes well with the creamy filling. For dinner, the naan street tacos are a solid choice. Pulled pork, peach BBQ, source cream, pickled onion, and green onion are packed inside of garlic naan and served taco style ($16). This is served with a very large side of mac and cheese. It is quite a filling meal! The tacos were great and the naan holds up really well to the juices and sauces, as compared to a soft corn shell.
