We stopped in here the other day sort of between lunch and dinner. The place had a very homey, comforting feel to it. The menu had plenty to choose from so it took us a little bit to make up our mind but it all worked out great in the end. We ordered the cold appetizer plate for 2 to share and on the plate was baba ganoush, hummus, a couple stuffed grape leaves, a few carrots, lebne, acili ezme, and a nice warm basket of bread. This was an excellent way to start our meal and we also ordered a couple of cocktails, I had the cosmo and my cousin had the sidecar made with brandy. We would both order those cocktails again. For our main dishes my cousin ordered the mixed grill and I had Lahmacun which was a Kurdish style pizza with lamb. We liked both dishes. I did want to order something for dessert they had a few choices but they only had baklava and that's not what I was interested in. I'd been quite curious about this little spot for a bit but never got the chance to try it... Until recently when I convinced the boss to check it out with me for lunch. Definitely glad I did because we both really enjoyed it. For lunch, it was a little pricey, but you absolutely got what you paid for. We went on a Thursday for lunch. It wasn't too busy but they did have some carryout business going on. The place itself seems tiny from the outside, but they do have a good amount of indoor and outdoor seating. Their menu has a lot of unique options ranging from gyros, kebabs, sautéed dishes, soups, salads, and tasty shareables. We started out with some pita bread and kisir. It had a very unique taste that neither of us could stop eating. As for our main entrees, he got a gyro with a side of lentil soup, and I opted for the sautéed lamb special. Right after we ordered, their head chef came out to meet us, and offered a special lamb leg that she'd just finished cooking instead of their usual dish. I'm always up for trying new things so I said sure. She was very friendly and inviting. We hardly waited long at all before everything was ready. My boss's gyro was HUGE and loaded with meat. My lamb was phenomenal and the meat was so tender that it fell right off the bone. My dish was so big that I could only finish about half, but I'm definitely a meal prepper, so I saved the rest for lunch just yesterday (it held up amazingly well). After we finished what we could, their chef came out and offered us some Turkish tea and talked to us about the tradition of serving tea after a meal. She said it gives people a reason to stay and talk more and create lasting bonds of friendship. The tea itself was very tasty too. I really enjoyed everything about this spot. I had dinner here with family on Sunday evening. There were five of us but they weren't busy so we were sat immediately. We ordered the Hummus and the Stuffed Grape Leaves for appetizers. The hummus was delicious! As were the breads and dipping oil that were served with it. The buns were especially yummy and everyone liked them. The dipping oil was also really good! The stuffed grape leaves were ok. They kind of had a bitter, canned taste -like they weren't fresh made. For our entrees there were two orders of Stuffed Cabbage Rolls, two orders of Chicken Kebabs and one order of Kofte Kebab. I think everyone liked their entrees for the most part. I didn't care for the cabbage rolls here. Just a personal taste. They were very heavy handed on a certain spice. Paprika? Aleppo? I'm not sure but you could see it very heavy on the inside and it overpowered the dish. My husband didn't notice it until the next day, when he warmed up both of our leftovers for his lunch. He had a beer that evening and I guess it diluted the flavor.The next day didn't care as much for them either. The same complaint. While we thought most of the food was pretty good and the service was too - it's a bit overpriced. We would definitely return to try more of the menu. read more

The restaurant sits in Anderson Town Center next to Macy's. Parking is more than adequate. Our party of four was greeted warmly and immediately seated. There is indoor and outdoor seating. Both are very good. Service was immediate and friendly. We ordered drinks and a humus plate to share. All came quickly. One person ordered chicken thighs, another got the Gyro platter and two of us, the baked eggplant. All dishes were excellent, properly cooked and spiced. I loved the baked eggplant. It was similar to moussaka, but no béchamel sauce. We all will go back anytime. read more

I had the blessed opportunity to meet the owners of LEYLA and enjoy a meal with them. The meal was by far, one of the best I have had in my life. From the grilled vegetables, lamb and chicken to the hummus, grape leaves, and babaganoush (which I rarely go for), everything was fresh and perfectly prepared. I could taste the love in every single bite. I must also add, the BAKLAVA is world class. It was lighter than others I have tasted and I swear was in honey and pistachio heaven. For me, service is king and LEYLA delivered greatly in this area as well. I highly recommend. And plan to return but next time, with friends. My husband and I chose Leyla's for our 4th wedding anniversary. We got the "cold apps for 2", a lamb flatbread, and the shish kebab (chargrilled lamb in sauce). My favorite things we ordered was definitely the baba gannoush and labne. The labne was special because it has fresh dill in it-- which took it to the next level. We were honestly more impressed with the apps than the entrees, but would definitely come back to try more menu items. We sat outside on the patio. It's super cute and covered in grape vines. Leyla Mediterranean is such a cute and quaint little place to go for lunch or dinner. They have a fabulous outdoor patio with many well loved and cared for plants. You feel like you are in a vista in Europe while sitting in a strip mall. The food is absolutely fantastic. Family recipes are well-seasoned and you can tell everything is made from scratch. The hummus is made from fresh chickpeas and sesame oil and we always get it with sliced vegetables. It's about my favorite. The family staff keeps an eye on the table and keeps the service going. Leyla Mediterranean is definitely one of my favorite restaurants in the Cincinnati area. My girlfriend and I have been to Leyla's multiple times and it is consistently top notch. In the past few months, I have tried their gyros, lamb adana kebabs, fried calamari, baba ganoush, the cabbage rolls, and more. It's impossible to choose a favorite, but if I did, I would highlight the gyros (so moist!) and the baba ganoush - don't pass this one up. The fresh bread and sun dried tomato dipping sauce is also amazing. The staff are so friendly and always make us feel welcome. We are so glad to have such an excellent local business to support. I only have one photo to share and it was from my first visit back in July. The chef offered a special that evening with two of my favorite things - a lamb shank over baba ganoush. I went to this restaurant around 10 times. I am Muslim, so I only eat Halal food. Leyla Mediterranean is the only Halal restaurant in the Anderson area. Sadly, ALL of my experiences at this restaurant have been horrible. The owner is a very rude, disrespectful and openly racist individual. When I come into their restaurant, the first thing this man says is "Takeout?" Basically implying that he does not want me dining in his restaurant. I noticed that he was exceptionally polite and respectful toward white customers. I recently bought their Adana Kebab and the whole entire thing was a slab of rotten chicken. The food container literally smelled like trash. Never again. I wouldn't go near this place with a 1,000 yard stick. read more

I ordered take-out from this restaurant yesterday. They're located in Anderson Towne Center, which I found to be enormous and confusing. I finally had to stop at their sister-restaurant, Mesopotamia, and ask for directions. The restaurant was clean and well-decorated. The staff seemed very busy but friendly and attentive. At first no one was available, and then suddenly three staff members were offering to help me, including the owner. But it was the food that made the biggest impression on me. The Grilled Chicken Thighs had a flavorful grill on them, but the hit was the Shrimp Casserole. The shrimp were plump and tender, the veggies were fresh and freshly-cut, and the sauce was absolutely amazing!! It was complex, with the piquant taste of yogurt. I couldn't stop slurping up spoon-fulls of it from my plate. It was a generous portion, expertly made, with a huge helping of equally flavorful rice. Sun dried tomatoes, olive oil, rosemary, oregano, and some other stuff I didn't understand her saying. The hummus was pretty good. The falafel was really good. The burek was good. They are very short staffed, but getting appetizers helped speed things up. But it was still worth the wait. I did my best to compliment the waitress / cook. I really wanted to try the lahmacun, but the server advised that the oven was on on the fritz so no flatbreads were available. So I had okra stew with lamb instead. Also baba ghanoush and kibbeh appetizers. Baba ghanoush was terrific--kibbeh was a little overdone and hard on the outside.Also had some red lentil soup which was good. Wanted to try rice pudding for dessert but they were out of that also for some reason. Service was friendly and adequate. I did order a martini (I am in my mid 20s) and the waitress told me I shouldn't be drinking so young - I laughed it off though. It definitely feels very authentic here.
