My husband and I used to go to Sebastian's at least six times or more every year. Merely because we live so far away from the restaurant. We went there on our second date, 49 years ago. The food was so delicious and the service was amazing. Alex the then owner always greeted us with the most amazing smile. After saying all of that, we only been once since he sold the restaurant, and everything was the same. We hope that the service and the food is still the same amazing quality. I haven't been to Sebastian's in a couple years, since Alex sold the business to the new owners. I have to say, it is just as delicious as it always was. I used to live right down the street and walk there regularly. I am super happy that the quality of food has not dropped an iota. As a matter of fact, the tzatziki seemed a touch thicker than I remember, and just as packed full of punch as always. I haven't had this west side staple in a long while. I was craving a good old gyro loaded with a bunch of tzatziki sauce. Sebastian's serves up the freshest made to order gyro around. Still owned and operated by the original owner quality is still there. I sided it with their delicious fries. Great little lunch spot. Inside is no frills as there are only 5-6 small tables. Another diamond in the rough! All I've ever heard since moving here was how wonderful this place was. Bring cash! The gyro was different than what I had had before but it was delicious none the less. One of the reviews I read was "watery cucumber juice" as a way to describe the sauce and after trying it, we realized that was an accurate description.! Only thing is the restaurant is not in the best area being next to a pawn shop with shady characters always in the parking lot but this isn't their fault. This is a very small restaurant on Glenway Avenue in Cincinnati. They focus on Greek food specifically gyros. Although they have very limited space and tables inside service was available at the time of my visit. I got their original gyro more or less plain with just the pita bread, meat, and Tzatziki sauce (I don't really like tomatoes or onions too much). The bread was warm and delicious and their Tzatziki sauce was an excellent take. But the star was that lamb meat as it just had so much darn flavour. Plus they really loaded tons of it on my sandwich too. As good as gyro gets for sure. We also got an order of Spanakopita which is phylo dough, feta cheese, and a little spinach. The combination is really delicious as I really love feta cheese. This is one of those small, old school restaurants that's been around a really long time because they deliver awesome gyros and I'll definitely be back for another soon. Thumbs up. read more

I lived on the west side for a while now and I'm almost embarrassed to say that I've never been here. I've never had Greek food other than baklava either. I went in in the afternoon and there was a gentleman who I'm assuming is the owner and another lady. They are both very friendly. I got a little bit of everything. The small gyro Was still pretty big I couldn't even finish it. The Greek fries were amazing I wish I knew with that seasoning was but they wouldn't tell me. It's a restaurant secret. And the desserts were wonderful as well. I don't have any kind of Greek food to compare it to but I highly recommend you stopping by and trying it out. read more

Stop by here if you want some great gyros! It's located on the west side and definitely worth the drive if you're not from the area. Find some parking spaces in the back of the restaurant. When you first come in, you'll see that there are only about 10 tables (fits 4 each) and you'll have to order at the counter. Don't be afraid if the line is a bit long since they serve the food pretty quickly. My favorites go-to are their gyros and French fries. read more

It's hard to find a good gyro these days but now I know where to go! My gyro was juicy, delicious & the pita was soft with a grilled crispy outside. Exactly what I'd hoped for! My husband and I would pickup and eat in several times before it was sold. My son and i were out and decided to stop for a Gyro. I was very disappointed in the quality of the Gyro and the Spinach triangles. They were loaded with grease both on the inside and outside of the items. I hope the cook was just having a bad day and this is not the quality that is now given by the " new" owners. I'm ot sure if I will try them again. Wow, first let me thank and apologize to everyone that has been telling me I have to visit Sebastian's! I have now owned a home on the west side for nearly a year and I just today changed my entire look on Gyros. Sebastians is a West side staple and has been for a long time now. I decided to check it out on this cold crappy day in hopes it would brighten my day. It did just that and more. The service was incredible, I explained to the nice lady running the cash register that I had never been here and many people eating gave me a hard time. She went on to recommend the Gyro (of course) and a spinach and feta appetizer wrapped in a thin dough and then grilled it is called a Spanakopita. Both were amazing and filling. The location is conveniently located on the corner of Glenway and Sidney. The parking is solid and they have solid hours 10:30-8:00 Monday through Saturday closed on Sunday. The decor is very Cincinnati and I love it. They have a lot of news paper clippings mentioning them throughout the years and I am a big fan of that. The owner was running the grill and he is a nice guy. We chatted for a few and he gave me a quick history run down. I was impressed by this, he was starting to get busy and didn't even break a stride cooking and conversing with me. The meat wasn't greasy and they didn't put a ton of filler vegetables in it, it was a perfect ratio of what matters in a Gyro. The prices are golden, $6 for a Gyro and $2.50 for the Spanakopita. The only complaint I have is that it is cash only, I would have been a frequent customer by now if it wasn't for that small inconvenience but for the service, price and taste I won't hold it against them. Let me start this out by pointing out a fact. I don't like lamb. I want to like lamb. Lamb is healthier than beef, so many people rave about it, but every time I try it, no matter how it is prepared, I dislike it. You may be thinking, if you dislike it so much why would you give Sebastain's 5 stars? Excellent question! First, let me start with a story. Not knowing the area and being hungry, we were looking for a place to lunch. The person we were with suggested Sebastian's. She claimed they had the best gyro's ever. Knowing that my husband is a huge fan of gyros, I decided to go along. One meal not to my liking wouldn't kill me. They both seemed so excited by this place how could my answer not be yes. It's not like I would be eating something I don't eat for dietary reasons. In we went. My husband knowing my dislike suggested a salad. They have a fairly limited menu. I decided to just go for the gyro. It is true what they say, stick to what you know. Sebastian's doesn't need a big menu, because they make the items they do offer so amazingly well. I would rather have a few amazing items that a mass of mediocre. Sebastian's is the first time in my whole life that I have been able to say "I like lamb!" Yep, I said it. I like lamb! This may be the only place I like it, but here I do. It was tender with great flavor. The pita around it accompanied it beautifully. The pita was strong enough to hold the meat while still being soft. The produce that topped the wrap was a nice balance. This is hands down the best gyro I have ever had. The fries we good too. We had a great meal. I look forward to going back. Note, they have limited parking in the back. Not sure if people shopping at other businesses use their lot or if it is shared, but it is fairly small. Also, it is small inside. Not ideal for large groups, but great for parties of 6 or less. read more

There's a special place in my heart for cheap little hole-in-the-wall diners that specialize in gyros. I've been to at least half a dozen of those types of places in the greater Cinci area over the past 5-6 years, and this is one of the worst. Why a 2/5? I subtracted three stars for three big cons. Cons: -The tzatziki tasted like watered-down cucumber juice. The worst I've had, easily. This in itself is enough for me to not come back. If you're the type of person that drowns your gyros and fries in ketchup, then you probably won't care, but a good gyro meal requires good tzatziki sauce, so if I did happen to be on the west side and ate here again, I wouldn't get their gyros. -We ordered Greek fries to share and when they came out they looked and tasted like regular fries, very little seasoning, almost no flavor. No wonder the lady offered us ketchup - with the tzatziki sauce being so bland and almost no seasoning on our fries, why not? -The composition of the gyro itself was overwhelmingly meaty, a few stringy onion slices, and a bit of tomato. It was basically bread and meat. I think I wouldn't have cared so much if they at least had good tzatziki sauce to go on it. Pros: -The lamb was good. If you are a burger-and-fries kind of person with no interest in a real gyro experience, this place will be fine for the price. If you actually like a good gyro, avoid this place. edit: Also, they only accept cash. We paid a $2.95 fee to withdraw some cash at their ATM. This was after we had already ordered, and we didn't see any signs that said "cash only" on our way to the counter and we weren't told that up front. This is kind of common in neighborhood diners, but just make sure you're prepared with cash or to pay the fee. read more

Definitely a good Gyro. Best in the world, or in town? Maybe, maybe not, but it didn't really have a stand-out "WOW!" factor that set it higher above average than other Gyro shops. But it was a tasty sandwich. I guess all the glowing reviews made me expect more? Small dining area, a no frills kind of place, and I think you have to go outside and around back to get to the restroom. Family owned and operated. I went all the way across town for it, and would definitely stop by if in the area, but probably won't make another 32 minute one-way trip any time soon. We ordered takeout from Sebastian's while in Cincinnati, my in-laws are regulars here apparently. I ordered a large Greek gyro salad and my husband got a gyro. Those were the only two items that everyone in our party ordered. The large Greek gyro salad was delicious and a good sized portion. I think the small size would've been a little too small for me even though I had some leftovers with the large. The salad came with a decent amount of meat and a warm piece of pita bread. The gyro was a normal sized gyro which everyone enjoyed. They gave us a cup full of tzatziki sauce which was a nice addition to the light balsamic dressing on the salad. We liked Sebastian's a lot and will certainly be returning for more! read more

Sebastian's is a reason to make the drive to the Westside! It is likely one of the city's best kept secrets. While it is located on a main thoroughfare, the signage is inconspicuous and requires you to be on the lookout for it. The menu is simple but SO Fantastic. Sebastian himself will likely engage in conversation with you while there. To welcome us to his restaurant he brought us two baklava because he wanted us to try them. Sebastian's has been a family favorite since I was growing up right down the street. We used to come here with my grandma and grandpa. My favorite is always a Gyro with all the fixings and a fry and for dessert bakavla. Alex is the owner and "Chef" and runs the restaurant with his wife Sue and his daughters. The restaurant usually is closed a few weeks during the year so he can go back to Greece and catch up with his family. If you haven't been yet, this is a must visit for anyone in Cincinnati. I'm Polish by heritage but I sometimes I feel like I ought to be Greek. Man, I love gyros. As far as I'm concerned, Sebastians has the best in town and some of the best I've had anywhere. Like reviewer Gigi F. wrote, tons of meat, tomatoes and wonderful tzatziki sauce. The "Greek" fries are just regular fries with some Greek seasoning sprinkled on, but they're prepared perfectly: golden brown and crispy on the outside, and tender and moist in the center. My husband visited Sebastians on Glenway today. He's pretty chill when going in restaurants because he ran one for years. Young lady working there must have really been out of line for him to say anything negative. He said she was real short and not willing to help in the ordering process (suggestions and such). He asked if they had cheese, and she said no, so he just ordered our gyros and waited. He observed her talking so recklessly to the Hispanic worker that he almost spoke up to her about it. In walked two Caucasian guys and I hate to say, her whole temperament changed. The one guy asked to add Feta ( cheese) to his gyros and she gladly added it. My husband (who had asked if they had cheese) spoke up and asked "isn't Feta cheese?" She answered yes ( sarcastically) he said he would like that please. She turned to the worker and in the same sarcastic tone said " he wants Feta now". I say all of this not to say don't eat there, because the food is good. But people must learn or better yet unlearn rudeness and implement true customer service. Whomever the owners of that establishment are, they never know the amount of business they are and will lose due to one person's thoughtless actions. read more

I grew up on the east side of Cincinnati where there weren't many good choices to get authentic gyros. I've been on the west side for about three years now, and have tried three different places for gyros. I would call this place my second favorite, maybe. I really wanted to love this place after reading the reviews, but I was instantly turned off by the woman who took my order over the phone, and I almost walked out without my food after meeting her in person as well. She had a terrible attitude for someone to be working in customer service, and was pretty smug about it as well. Maybe they have such a great business that they can afford to turn new customers off without losing sleep over it. The only reason I didnt leave was because I thought the old man running the place was really adorable, and he reminded me of my own grandpa. I also think it's a bit crazy that they don't accept anything other than cash. As for the food, it was ok. The gyro meat was great as was the pita. I'd like to have had more onions and tomato. The sauce was runny and I was not a fan of it. The fries were good--typical crinkle cut with seasoning. They did get my order wrong over the phone, so I had to wait once I got there for them to correct it. I honestly am not sure if I will be back or not. The only thing I really liked about it was the hole in the wall family business feel I got while there, and the guy who reminded me of my grandpa behind the counter.
