This is an adorable authentic little Greek gyro shop with AMAZING tiropitas! Possibly one of the most delicious snacks you will ever eat. They are made with phyllo dough and filled with cream cheese and when you order one he dips it in lamb grease and fries it on the grill pressed with a weight. YUM!!!! Sebastian's has been the "it place" to get Gyros for many years in Cincinnati. This was my third trip overall, but my first since 2006 or so. A small, divey family owned shop... Sebastian's is situated oddly on a corner of a main road through the West side of Cincinnati with limited parking in the back. Nearby are a couple small shops with limited hours which increase the parking slightly. This trip was made with a group of people, about ten (10) of us. Sebastian's is a small place which is CASH ONLY establishment so the line (and there's usually a line) moves along somewhat slowly with a sizable group. Not the best if you have a group larger than say six (6) people, but well worth the effort even if you do. I came prepared to share, so I snagged a nice sized table and when it was my turn to order I asked for the Gyro Dinner Plate with sides of Spanakopita, Stuffed Grape Leaves, Fries and Baklava (which I didn't share... it's MINE!) Most of my group also went with a Gyro or Gyro plate, but some did go for the grape leaves dinner. Either way, most all were satisfied, with only one feeling they could've had better elsewhere. Not bad for a group of ten. I was thoroughly impressed by my Gyro and the grape leaves. The Spanakopita didn't seem like the best effort was made to me. The Baklava was fantastic, but the fries were about average. Overall I'm glad I was able to bring my group here to a small family owned place with good food and plenty of personality. Though things were slow due to the size and layout of the restaurant, I don't feel it detracted too much. I'll certainly be back, and recommend you drop in as well. read more

Hmm... so, I really wanted to love this place. In fact, I think I had already made my mind up that this was going to be a 5 star review when I saw that they cook their meat on the spit --- like it's supposed to be done. Buuuut... after eating the gyro, I had trouble even giving them three stars. The problem was the tzatziki. The gyro meat was delicious actually. The tzatziki, on the other hand, was bland and runny. It had the consistency of slightly spoiled milk with no traces of cucumber or anything else. This was my first time there, so I might have just had bad luck with their sauce today, but I'm not so sure that I'll be going back to give them another shot. Hands down one of the best establishments I have EVER been to. The authentic gyros are super delicious and are very generous portions. The cucumber sauce is yummy, too! Next time I'll have to order feta cheese on my gyro. I also would recommend the spanakopita as a side item. The light cheese flavor and spinach inside of the flaky pastry is so good. I have been eating Sebastian's for almost my entire lifetime.... and those years are beginning to add up. Sebastian's hasn't changed one bit in all that time. Always a homey family feel with good quality food. I really can only recommend a small portion of the menu, because why would you go here and not order the gyro meat. I like that you can order the meat only and aren't forced to get the sandwich. Of all the Mediterranean restaurants I have ever gone to, they have the best gyro meat. The Greek fries are always served burn-your-mouth hot and liberally covered in seasoning salt. The restaurant itself is nothing spectacular to look at. You push your way thought a crowded seating area to order at the counter. Find yourself a seat at a rickety table. And wait for your little piece of Greek heaven to arrive at your table. This is fast food Mediterranean at its best! Prices are very reasonable as well, though if you order the meat and not the sandwich be prepared for it to be a little pricey, but a good portion. The gyros are just okay, but since we grew up on the west side, it's a tradition. Not anymore! The girls behind the counter are great! The owner is really rude. If you like getting yelled at for purchasing a gyro during business hours, this is the place for you! My brother was in from out of town. We drove AN HOUR to get there, and sure enough he started yelling the second we walked in. He was ticked off for one reason... he had a rush of people at 3pm and not noon when HE thought he should have a rush. Every time I go in there, he yells at the customers about something or another. So, I'm not Greek. But my cousins on my Dad's side have an aunt who is Greek. Growing up, "Aunt" Mel (short for Melpone) introduced us to the wonderful world of tasty Greek foods like baklava, soulvaki and gyros. After his demonstration speech on how to make keftedes (Greek meat balls), I asked him where he goes for Greek food in Cincinnati. Without hesitation, he said, "Sebastian's." Since then, I've been going to Sebastian's whenever I feel like my tzatziki levels are getting low. A small gyro (no tomatoes) is my usual order and I split an order of Greek fries with my husband. I had read about this restaurant here on Yelp and put into my GPS on my cellphone. So when I had time while in Cincinnati I checked it out. And I'm happy I did. The food was great! I knew it was my kind of place the moment I walked in. There was a line and there was one girl taking the money and one man making the food. I happily waited in line for give my order. I got a small Greek Salad and Gyro. I got my salad when I paid at the counter and the gal told me she'd bring me my Gyro when it was done. I sat down among the regulars and ate me fresh and delicious salad. And then came my Gyro. It was outta sight. Hot, Fresh and made to order. I love the bread. This is apparently a staple in Cincinnati and I can see why. My aunt and uncle live nearby and said they go here all the time. We got there for lunch on a Saturday and it was packed. The dining room isn't big and it certainly isn't fancy. But the food and the service were fantastic! We got the Greek fries. The serving was large and they tasted great. I also got the small Greek salad. I thought it was a little too small, but had good flavor. We also got the Spanikopita and enjoyed it thoroughly! read more

Here's why I like Sebastian's. it's a good, quick, affordable, non-restaurant chain lunch on the westside. You're not going to see Greeks laughing or dancing or breaking plates here. By the register is an old picture of the owner. He's young, handsome and fit. He's dressed in a military uniform and has a look that says "I know 43 ways to kill you and I'm thinking of number 21 right now." Standing behind the counter carving meat off the cone, he still has that look. But...hand the cashier about $5 and you'll be holding a serviceable gyro within about 4 minutes of walking in the door. Fantastic place for greek food, and the portions are abundant, contrary to the first review on this restaurant. The gyros have so much meat in them, they are exploding out of the pita and tin fold. I usually order the Greek Salad with meat, which includes a pita bread, with extra feta. Don't let the appearance of the place scare you. It has a run down diner appearance. Not a lot of indoor dining, and overall, and is dive-ish in appearance. I stick with carry-outs. Sebastian's food is five stars. I found Sebastian's Greek restaurant after searching on Google... The gyros sandwich I had was delicious. The meat was fresh, the vegetables were amazing, and the sauce was to die for. The Greek fries are scrumptious too. I asked the owner and this place has been around for 35+ years, can't believe I've never been there until now. Sebastian's is a Price Hill staple. The place has been around forever and does not appear to have changed in it's many existing years. I would love to say the gyros are great, but the Greek place at Newport on the Levee serves better ones. I don't think the spanakopita is great either, despite the rave reviews. However, the tiropita is so good, it makes me feel like crying. The last time I went I ordered a second one to go and barely made it to the car before wolfing it down. It's really that amazing. Besides the tiropita, I love the atmosphere and service at Sebastian's. It's an old dump of a place and the folks who were there are very matter of fact, but at the same time it feels welcoming. Sebastian's is an awesome establishment. I recently came here starving and thirsty after a few intense rounds of lazer tag at scallywag tag. We sat down at a booth and I ordered us gyros and water and at the counter. Less than five minutes later, our food and drinks were delivered to the table. The gyros were delicious and unpretentious; just a huge pile of gyro meat with some tomatoes and onions on top of a warmed pita bread with cold tzatziki sauce on the side. Even my picky 9-year-old brother downed his entire sandwich! My sister wasn't very hungry so I had planned to just share some of my gyro with her, but the owner had noticed that she didn't order anything. He decided to give her a generous portion of gyro meat and tzatziki sauce so she could try it too! I've never seen any restaurant do this, but I was very impressed with the kindness and attention to detail. Sebastian's has a small diner feel which I love. The service is definitely friendly and quick, and they were super accommodating to all of our requests. I forgot that they were cash-only but luckily they do have an ATM right by the entrance. Cute little store nestled away on a corner, very discreetly placed across the street from Frisches on Glenway Ave. Unique style place, actually almost felt like I was in Greece being this place was definitely independently owned. I ordered the gyro, the spanakopita,the dolmathakia, and the baklava. The gyro was pretty good. I don't think I've ever had a bad gyro anywhere. The spanakopita was on the thin side but still tasted good. The dolmathakia was outstanding; I love stuffed grape leaves. The baklava was baked perfectly and delicious.
