I absolutely love Sebastians. Alex and Sue are the owners. They have been there since I was in high school, back in the late '60's. The food is mouth watering,and you are served by a gorgeous waitress. Everyone there is courteous. The food s plentyfull. Did I say delicious? I always get the same order. What can I say about Sebastian's? How about they have the best Gyro that you can get! The Tzatziki is awesome. I could drink it with a straw. The Baklava is super sweet and tasty and the Spanakopita is good enough for dessert. I live on the Westside (of Cincy) and I'm glad to have Sebastian's right around the corner. Was excited to be in the vicinity to finally get to try the "best gyros in Cincinnati." Maybe my expectations were too high, but it was just pretty average. The meat was moist and pita soft and fresh but flavor was a just not great. I seriously make better Tzatziki at home so I think that's where they fell short. Coming from Chicago, we have gone on a quest for a great Gyro sandwich. Sebastian's came highly recommended, but after eating their sandwich, I can say I am disappointed. On the good side, the meat was good, moist and not over cooked, which is a common problem. Also, the pita was soft and tasted fresh...many times they are dry and break apart. The problem: these sandwiches are so small I could eat three (and I am not that big), there were more tomatoes than meat. Very disappointed. Plus note: THEY ONLY TAKE CASH!!! read more

This establishment has been has been in the same location for the last forty years. The owner is a Greek gentleman. The Gyro's are awesome. the meat is nicely spiced. Let's call a spade a spade. This is not, as Cincinnati Magazine calls it, a Greek restaurant. It is a gyro stand plain and simple. This family run joint has been around for some time, and it's a quite popular takeout joint, but there's not much else here beyond gyros, baklava, and a simple Greek salad. The staff is friendly but not without a little attitude - after we ordered a salad, we asked if they had any olives or hummus. "You get olives with the salad, but we're Greek, not Lebanese. Hummus is Lebanese." An honest mistake on our part, but you have to make a pretty good gyro to help us recover from the ignorant and embarrassed feeling we were left with. Unfortunately, Sebastian's is just so-so. It's not great, but it's not awful either. Service was super quick, but portions are on the light side. I can't remember a more hospitable place when I ate here not only did my meal come very quickly but it was delicious and at a pretty fair price. Better than any greek food i've had in town and at one point an elderly man I can only assume is the owner brought out a small basket of meats and such for one person at our table who didn't order anything and we all got to try a selection from his menu. Go to Sebastian's and experience the BEST GYRO you will ever have the pleasure of eating!! For 20 years, I've tried to find a better gyro, and it just DOES NOT EXIST!! My husband is half Greek, so we went here for his birthday lunch (we had only previously had takeout). The cashier seemed impressed that hubby has a nice pronunciation of "gyro", LOL! Our picky five year old was with us, so we ordered two gyros and fries, along with drinks. We also ordered two spanikopita, which had a wide variability of quality in Cincinnati. We were given an extra order of gyro meat for my daughter, which was really a nice thing you get from a locally owned family run place (of course, she pronounced: "you know I don't eat meat!", as appalling this might be a to a Greek mother, but her father ate it all up) My daughter LOVED the spanikopita (a cheese and spinach pastry with phillo dough)! She never ever tries things like this. I was amazed that she would eat it! Of course we truly enjoyed the gyros and the rest of the meal. So I had never had a gyro before. Greek had just never sounded appealing to me and now I feel quite ashamed of myself as to have missed out on this delicious food my whole life. My friend ended up bringing me here for lunch and I had a run of the mill plain gyro with feta and from first bite I was hooked.
