Three years ago I moved to Cincinnati. I am from Brooklyn so I would say I am very particular about…read morewhere I eat Italian food! I kept hearing Giovanni's name and I tried it out and was extremely pleased with my food. I've continued to eat here, so when three of us were going out to dinner to celebrate my friend's birthday. There was no hesitation that this is where we were going! Neither friend had ever been here before, so it was a great opportunity to show them where to get excellent Italian food. We're more than halfway through our meal, the birthday girl is absolutely ecstatic with her eggplant rollatini! Unfortunately, she suffers from epilepsy and proceeded to have a grand mal seizure at the table. Everybody, in that restaurant, the staff, the customers, were so wonderful with their response to this situation. 911 was called immediately, the paramedics arrived and put my friend in the ambulance. At which time I asked our server to bring some boxes and the check. She already had the boxes in her hand and proceeded to box everything up for us and informed us in no way would they be giving us a check that evening! Can you imagine that in this day and age nobody does that sort of thing! But nope, I'm wrong Giovanni's is the place you wanna go to be surrounded by stand-up people with values that we just don't seem to see anymore! Of course we left What cash we had in our pockets, which unfortunately was nowhere near what the cost of the meal would have been. In another few days, the owners will be taking their yearly trip back to Italy to see their friends and family, and in the middle of August when they return, I will be there! I just wanna say thank you so much for your caring, compassion, and generosity during a very challenging time. Have a wonderful trip!

The room could probably seat 50-70 people. Drinks were ordered and arrived quickly. Beer in bottles only 4.99$. There was a wine list too. We ordered our hot food which arrived around 3:50 pm. Our salads came before. The bread knots came out last. The salads were mostly iceberg with a tomato, onion and cucumber slice. Each meal was served with a salad, 2 bread knots and the entree. Smaller dishes like the pasta combo could be finished for a meal, larger entrees could be shared by 2- 3 people. We had a great time and the food was superb. The chicken parmigiana was so tender with plenty of sauce. The lasagna and stuffed shell so cheesy. Quality food in a family owned and run restaurant. So yummy. The owner came over to talk to us after. He told us we could stay until close at 9 pm. lol Thanks for staying in business-Giovanni's!!

What a darling place! We were looking for a place to eat that was heading towards Indianapolis and…read morefound this restaurant. Hubs is from Germany so we thought we would give it a try. The restaurant sits on the Miami river which was very picturesque. They had a bier garden complete with a stage for live performances. We were waited on quickly and they carried Warsteiner, which we enjoyed! We had a friendly and efficient server. The first item we ordered was the Bavarian pretzel with bier cheese. The pretzel was a decent size and tasty. The bier cheese, however, missed the mark for me. It didn't even resemble any beer cheese I ever had. And unfortunately, I ordered my broccoli with that cheese! My husband ordered the Kaiser burger--which sounded substantial and delicious. And I ordered the Mettwurst and sauerkraut. The portion sizes were great! But let me just say--they are no Hofbräuhaus! Not at all! Not even close. The only thing I managed to eat was the Mettwurst and only a few bites and it wasn't that great. And then the potato pancakes? They were cold and tasted like they were fried in old oil. We were starving and disappointed. But coupled with fatigue we were just happy to have eaten and gotten on our way home. The restaurant was pretty packed by the time we left. And people seemed to be enjoying their food. So we may try it one more time--especially because the venue was very German inspired. Our bill came to about 100 with tip. Wished I could have given a better review--sorry!

The person manning the drive thru was a part owner and very helpful. My pork BBQ sandwich was definitely house-made and as promised-smokier than sweet (the beef would have been the reverse). It was definitely the best drive-thru BBQ I've had with a generous amount of meat. The cole slaw was pretty classic; a little sweeter than I'd have preferred but still good. With a bag of chips it was a bit over $10 which seems to be market rate. Very filling. Next time I will order the mac & cheese as a side. And next time I'll go in. In addition to basic butcher shop fare, they also have ready made items (think Salisbury Steak, etc...) AND they also have a produce store with fresh fruit salad and a wine shop attached.
