I came here on a Monday evening with my best friend, he wanted to grab something for dinner. We arrived and found a spot in the back to park. We walked into what almost looks like a house. The place was almost packed for a Monday. I seen the bartender and asked if we just sit anywhere and he said to find a seat. We sat down and looked over the menu. About 5 minutes later the bartender came over to take our order. We ordered drinks and our meal at the same time. We both got the short rib sandwich with fries. We talked for a bit, and it wasn't long before our drinks came out then maybe 5 or so minutes later our food came out. Let me say this, I know why they are packed on a Monday. Seriously the food is just wow, I mean I have to come back and try other things. The bartender came around a couple times to make sure all was good and to refill our drinks. Cute and comfortable place for a bite to eat. It probably has a great crowd on game nights. We arrived just as they opened on a Sunday. We were expecting a crowd, but we were the only customers there aside from a gentleman sitting at the bar. A few more tables were filled by the time we left. There were six of us and most of us ordered burgers and fries. The burgers were good. The fries, not so much. Everyone that had fries agreed they were bland and tasteless. Mark had the bologna sandwich. He said it wasn't "thick cut", but rather more like several of pieces of bologna fried together. He was disappointed. One person ordered potato skins for their lunch. We love Ali's! The food is always excellent and the service is above and beyond. What a gem we have here in Madeira.

Very friendly staff, great selection of cold draft beers, and a solid menu of tasty food in a dive bar feel. My wife and I shared the meatball sub with fries and the chicken quesadillas. Both were above average. The quesadilla was full of large chunks of perfectly seasoned, juicy chicken and lots of cheese. The meatball sub had 4 huge meatballs on a soft toasted hoagie bun. The fries reminded me of those served In 'n Out Burger...soft and less crispy than other places, but also less greasy. A very loud, festive crowd full of what were clearly regular customers. The bar was packed, and many customers roamed the restaurant visiting with other guests. Plenty of street parking in addition to the lot behind Ali's. We'll be back for sure! read more

Not at all what I was expecting (which was a good thing). I had braced myself for unimaginative, super processed bar fare, but everything tasted fresh and was prepared thoughtfully--even the French fries were hand cut. The server was a little silly--singing loudly, off-key and auditioning material as sports commentator, but she kept our glasses filled and brought our food out piping hot. No one else seemed to mind, and who can't use some levity? Prices were reasonable. Interior is uninspired, but the owner came by and introduced herself and talked about the work they're doing bit by bit. read more

We were excited to try Ali's after hearing positive reviews. We ordered burgers, fries, The Roasted, a Caesar salad and Truffled Short-Rib Poutine to split among three people (my brother and my friend). My brother and I both agreed the burger was tough like a hockey puck. I love roasted vegetables but something was missing from The Roasted. The vegetables were still hard and lacked flavor. The Truffled Short-Rib Poutine was okay - the sauce that they gave seemed very heavy and thick. My friend did enjoy her Caesar salad, though. The environment seemed cool, especially during a Bengals game. I have heard Ali's is known for their wings and would return to try those. read more

The service is friendly and helpful. The food is elevated above normal bar food, that I've had so far. (The Poutine was unexpected. It was enough to service 2 people, but hearty & tasty! I thoughly enjoy the candied bacon (ordering it every time I go or 2 orders if I give in to it's flavors. There's homemade pimento there, too! Danny (Ali's hubby is a gooood cook! And the times I've gone, the bar has been relatively quiet. I'm not there on the weekends or when there's music is being played, but knowing Ali, it's tasteful and fun. Someday maybe. You should go. What a super-fun, local experience! "This used to be a bad dive before Ali took over," the friendly couple next to us at the bar said. And we are so glad we stopped by! It is not Instagram-worthy -- and no one is going to put it in a fancy magazine (I didn't even bother taking photos because the lighting wasn't there), but the food is straight-up homey comfort. The best is the people and the service, just wow. My husband wanted to substitute his fries with something else so they just gave him an appetizer of Shisito Peppers for free. Always available to help. We loved the Short Rib Poutine to start. If you come, you must order it. It's not a large menu: a few apps, a few burgers, a few sandwiches. We used to live across the street on Marvin and would walk to the old Westy's Pub often. I was i initially sad to see Westy's go, but what a gem to replace it. Ali's is fantastic! Everything from the food to service is great, and while I don't live in Cincinnati anymore, it'll be on my list of go-tos (along with Zips) anytime I'm back in town. We would also recommend the large wings, 10 wings for $12. Also, the "Butter Burger" with fries is fantastic. Sports in TV's. Lot's of parking. We love Ali's!!! We probably get food 1-2 times a month for carry out and we go in as well. We love the burgers and the poutine fries. Everything is great and they have the beat bartenders. We got contactless curbside service. It's best to do this when they aren't so busy since it's a smaller place and there may not be enough staff to answer the phone and bring food to the car.
