When me and my kids and wife arrived at the host stand we did not have a reservation and she immediately told us it would be an hour with a completely empty restaurant, we booked a reservation for 15 minutes later and were seated. Hostess and front was very rude and straight up lied to us. When the waiter showed up 15 minutes after we were seated our waiter rushed us into ordering food and then took forever to bring it to us. For how fancy the Peabody is this, restaurant was nothing. Food was ok but not excellent. My French onion soup was so salty it was almost inedible. Chicken Parm was good but other than that the service was not it either, He didn't explain the butter on the board and didn't really give us any recommendations or anything. We came here to see the ducks before dinner but missed them. They walk at 5pm. The restaurant is in The Peabody Hotel. The restaurant it self looks a little diner like. Not top notch for the price. We sat in a booth and service was a little slow. Brought one drink at a time. We started with a wedge salad. It was ok. One piece of lettuce was brownish. This shouldn't happen. We had steaks for our meal. They were good but presentation is lacking. Just a piece of meat on a plate. We also ordered a Gnocchi side dish. The food was good. Mary had a Wedge salad garnished with tomatoes, onions and candied bacon. I had the mushrooms stuffed with lobster and we shared both. For dinner, Mary had the Scallops and Pasta with Truffle Sauce and Artichokes. I had the Spaghetti with Bolognese Sauce and I topped it withe a meatball. Every course of this dinner was brilliant. Capriccio grill was chosen for a work recruiting event. Prior to this event, I had never visited Capriccio Grill and was excited to try it out for the first time. Since the restaurant is located inside the Peabody Hotel, I had high expectations for service, food quality, and ambience. To kick off the meal, I started with the Wedge Salad. The salad was fresh and pretty, when it finally arrived, but took an incredibly long time (15 minutes) to be served. C'mon, it's salad and we were the only folks in the restaurant (rented out). There seemed to be a lot of confusion when taking the orders from the group (~25 people), and the soups or salads were brought out only a few at a time every few minutes, leaving several attendees waiting up to 15 minutes for their soup or salad. For the main course I chose the Penne Meatball. The main course was much better and served faster. Though the staff neglected to refill the bread throughout the entire experience, the main course was at least served with more coordination than the first course. Attendees were all mostly served at the same time. The presentation of the Penne Meatball was impressive, satisfying with just the right amount of sauce, and looked picturesque as though from a magazine. If only the service was executed with as much care and attention to detail as the kitchen. For desert all attendees had ice cream, I chose vanilla. Unfortunately the ice cream had already started melting by the time I received it. The ice cream was good, tasting like regular ice cream and paired with fresh strawberry. All things considered, the Capriccio Gill is like any standard Italian restaurant, so I suggest instead of paying to eat in the Peabody, consider other establishments with better service for less expense. read more

This steak was phenomenal and our server, Desiray, was excellent! I highly recommend this place for dinner if you're staying at the Peabody.

The service and people are fantastic and could not be any more spot on. Our server Tijuana was absolutely wonderful with frequent trips to check on us! The French press coffee is outstanding and included with buffet. The breakfast buffet is very nice with lots of fresh selections including an oatmeal bar, fresh fruit and pastry choices and the chef makes a great custom omelet delivered to your table. All but one if us had the breakfast buffet but my son-in-law had the french toast and bananas foster, holly cow was is great looking and yes I had to sample it, truly special, oooo next time. So th et e bacon, ham, sausage, great country gravy, biscuits, grits, potatoes and all the expected breakfast items and all around morning meal whether off menu or buffet. It is a very comfortable and smart place to spend your morning with the added bonus of shopping, lobby bar and lounging and of course the regal and magnificent Peabody Ducks!! My husband and I decided to dine at the Capriccio Grill for lunch while staying at The Peabody. While I was initially excited about the options on the menu, the experience did not meet our expectations. The waitstaff were excellent and I give them 5 stars for their service. We started with the deviled eggs and the pimento cheese fritters. The cheese fritters were better than the deviled eggs which was surprising since it is pretty tough to mess up deviled eggs. I think the concept was cool - different types of deviled eggs with various flavors, but the execution was terrible. For the main entree, I had the Peabody's famous chicken pot pie. I am not sure why it is "famous". I thought the pot pie was below average from a taste perspective (nice presentation, however). To be perfectly honest, I'm shocked at the poor rating of the Capriccio Grill. My sample size is small, having eaten here on Christmas Eve the last 2 years, but I am always impressed with the food and the service. They have one of my favorite Lobster Bisques I've ever had, and I try pretty much everyone I've seen when eating out. I really enjoy the seared scallop pasta as well. Service is always on point, glasses are never left empty. The only speed bump I've had is the lackluster beer selection, which is understandable seeing as how the focus is more on their cocktail and wine selection. Stopped into the grill at the Peabody hotel for a quick meal before we headed to the roof to see the fireworks with a group of my co-workers. We mainly ordered appetizers and soups knowing that we needed to get back to the roof in time to see the fireworks. We couldn't accept the pulled pork pizza that was recommended by the waiter. There was something sour in the pizza, under the cheese. I think it was onions. I love onions. My husband and I enjoyed 2 dinners here and the Sunday brunch recently. Service was consistent on all 3 occasions, with the exception of Saturday night. I believe it was due to a back up in the kitchen, but whatever the cause, the manager was quick to buy us a drink and some desserts for the longer than usual wait. Which was perfectly fine for a night with no kids! The Sunday brunch was amazing, the desserts were the superstars though. The pastry chef in-house really outdid herself. (See photo of the beauty) The breakfast portion was very tasty, and the lunch items looked just ok to me, but hubs enjoyed them all. If I had one suggestion to make things better, it would be to add chai to the hot tea selection that's available! Overall, excellent food and excellent service. Oh. My. Gosh. Y'all. This is the best brunch I have EVER eaten. It's a buffet style that includes bottomless mimosas. We came to Peabody to watch the ducks march and then decided last minute to try to eat brunch. With a group of 6, we were worried we may not be seated without a reservation. We only had to wait about 20 minutes for a table, and we were promptly greeted by our enthusiastic and kind server. She refilled the mimosas like a champ, and I never saw the bottom of my glass. The brunch is divided into two areas - a breakfast area and a lunch area. The breakfast area had your expected fixings like sausage, bacon, fluffy buttermilk biscuits, waffles, etc. The lunch had a carving station, all kinds of pastas and vegetables, salmon, a wide variety of unique and decadent foods. Service was very poor. Waiter did not ensure we had water, we did not have salt and pepper, and did not check on us. We had to constantly look around and try to get his attention. The bread and breadsticks didn't come out until at least 10 minutes after we were seated. After ordering the glasses of wine it took 12 minutes. In case you are wondering, we went at 8pm on a Friday and there were 5 groups dining. It was dead, so I just don't know the lack of service. The food was decent. I came here with 3 friends after the Women's March. There were maybe 5 tables. The service was awful. Our waiter took our order, brought our drinks, and never returned. We had to complain to get anyone to return to our table. They dropped off our food and only came back to drop off the check that he did not bother to split. We found out later that our original waiter left to work at Chez Philippe. The food was meh. We ordered a fried green tomato appetizer that was great but it was brought out with our entrees. I had one of the best Father's Day dinners here and probably my worst holiday dinner for Thanksgiving. The Peabody is one of my favorite hotel in America But there was just so many things wrong with this Thanksgiving dinner. Not just at my table but the other stables as I watched them complain and send their plates back.The meal was a child-like portion. Half the meals were cold. Several meals were wrong. I ordered a 2011 $70 bottle of wine and they bought a 2014 and said it was the same which it is not. If you are staying in downtown Memphis , you can always get a great breakfast here inside the Peabody Hotel. Classic southern fare with exceptional service . The buffet may appear routine , but the meats are high quality and the food is fresh and warm . I usually pass on the biscuits and gravy but oh my was this good stuff . Homemade biscuits and a creamy gravy that was pure goodness . Ken will make an omelette to your order and Art is the man taking care of the guests in the dining room. Business tip: If you're not absolutely awesome, don't ever use the word "Capri" in any part of your name. If people don't like what you have to offer, then it's really easy to make a juvenile, derogatory name. The Mercury Capri becomes the Mercury Crapi. The Chevy Caprice? The Chevy Crap-piece. Capri Sun juice drinks? Crapi sun. You get the picture. So I'm proud to introduce the latest in the pantheon of 2nd grade put-downs of business names: Crappicio. Now I know hotel-based restaurants are generally to be avoided. They know they have a semi-captive audience, many of the guests are on expense accounts, and people often lose their taste buds after flying all day from San Francisco or New York. But I expected more from Capriccio, what with them being in the finest hotel in Memphis, across the lobby from the finest restaurant in the Mid South, and being billed repeatedly as having the finest steaks in town. We should've just put down our menus and walked out when we saw the wine list. Glasses of cheap swill being sold for well over the retail bottle price? No thank you! The next red flag was the menu itself, where they listed a description of each level of done-ness... and included "Well Done." This is obviously not a self-respecting steakhouse, if one could even call it that. Well done!? Afraid to dive into any one item, my New York colleague and I each opted for the Capriccio Mixed Grill, medium rare, with a side of au gratin potatoes and creamed spinach - traditional items to test the steakhouse mettle. These sides were fine, even if they accidentally brought us sauteed instead of creamed spinach. How 'bout the meat? We dove into our Linguica (Portuguese sausage). SF: "Man, that's good." NY: "Salty as hell, but good." SF: "It's Linguica. It's supposed to be salty. Wash it down with your $14 glass of Thunderbird or whatever it is." On to the lamb chop... "Is yours medium rare?" NY: "I think it's well done. Or medium well." SF: "Mine too. At least it's not gamey.... and I thought it was just the sausage, but this is - " In unison: "SALTY AS F***!" Inside of a hotel which I adored was a restaurant that was just okay. I thought it would be fabulous, I had such high hopes. We had dinner here after a full day of sight seeing, trampling around and walking off legs off. It sounded terrific to just take the elevator down and have a great dinner. We should have reved up and gone for a little walk because this was a pricey let down. I had the lamb chops as I just adore lamb. I ordered them medium rare and they came medium well with a bit of mint jelly. Yes, mint jelly was considered really innovative back in the '60's when adding cream of chicken soup was also exciting and new. I know there are better chefs out there who can perk up your kitchen! The asparagus was also so pedestrian. I finished with a chocolate shooter and I did like that concept. For the money, I expected way more. Yes, you have a captive audience with the hotel but why not reach their level of achievement instead of just recycling culinary ideas from Jr. High Home Ec? On our last morning we had breakfast and my omelet was very very good but the service was even spottier and more awkward than the night before. I don't get how a hotel which was basically perfect has a restaurant that is so underwhelming. The space is beautifully nestled in the famous Peabody Hotel. This is one of the places that I have been wanting to dine at for a while, but was never really motivated to go. Luckily, I was able to attend a Yelp Elite event to feed my curiosity. It was a five course buffet style menu that included salad, brisket with mashed potatoes, salmon croquettes, Fried green tomatoes and a great variety of "finger" desserts. Overall the food was good, but the main dish that really stood out was the brisket. The brisket was juicy, just fatty enough, and was not overpowered by a ton of sauce--paired with a delicious creamy mashed potato. Everything else was good, but not particularly special. The croquettes were good, but there wasn't much salmon or salmon flavor present. It was more like a really good hushpuppy. The dessert bar was a hit. The tiramisu was really good and I heard the carrot cake was amazing, but I missed it. This is a really nice restaurant and the staff was extremely friendly and professional. I had the prime rib for dinner and it had the most bizarre kind of gravy sauce that ruined the meat completely. For sides I had the asparagus because my wife ordered it and made me eat some, and the mac and lobster which was very good. For dessert I had the strawberry shooter which was very good. The service was a bit erratic but the main problem was the sauce on the prime rib. Our breakfast was included and was basically buffet which was OK but the omlet was outstanding.
