The food and service at Callie's are both HORRIBLE!!! Everything I ate tasted pre-packaged (probably from a can) or at the very least, prepared days ahead of time. I can't think of a worse place to eat in Utah County than Callie's. The service was just as bad as the food. Our waitress looked and acted like the stereotypical waitress you see in the movies working behind the counter at some dive dinner at a truck stop in the middle of nowhere. If you're looking for some greasy breakfast foods, this is the place for you! I'll be honest, I'm not a big breakfast person, I got a breakfast sandwich with ham on sourdough toast. My main complain is the toast was really just bread that may have touched the grill for a second. It was almost soggy and turned into a glue when mixed with the butter and grease from everything else. My husband got the pitchers mound which is basically a heap of everything breakfast covered on gravy. He thought it was really good. Prices are super cheap and service was great. I've watched Callies slowly go downhill for the past several years (I've been coming here for 7 years). It just doesn't have the friendly service I've come to expect. The food was good (nothing special) and large portions. They seem to have chosen quantity over quality. The service was great, though we took our toddler and the place isn't very family friendly. The main reason I won't go back is because they accept cash only. It's 2013 and I don't like having to use an ATM, they should have at least have signs posted in obvious locations. read more

Not a family friendly restaurant. I went to Callie's after purchasing a Groupon. It looked like a cute place to go with the whole family on a Saturday morning. NOT! Pin up calendars and a cowgirl's rear end to stare at while eating breakfast does not help my appetite. (I'm not that kind of girl) Wait staff did their job...nothing more. I got oatmeal. It was good. Tasted my husband's biscuits and gravy...not so good. He didn't eat it all and I didn't want to finish it for him. Pancakes were fine...but you have to be really bad to ruin pancakes. This place reminds me of a little dive bar. It's a very diverse group of customers sitting around a little country tables. The food is great and what you want in a Sunday brunch. I ordered their killer hash browns. This is hash browns smothered in gravy with Bacon, ham, mushrooms, green peppers and onions. Quite the concoction of deliciousness. Not many options for Sunday brunch but Callie's would be in the top 5. read more

Party of 4 including 2 kids. Went in, seated ourselves on the west side of the dining area. My 4 year old loved looking at the decor. Orders were taken quickly. I had the Callie's hash and I don't remember what my husband had but it was basically loaded biscuits. Both were delicious. Our daughter had the cinnamon roll which was good and big. Came here hoping for a bit more than I got. The service was terrible, extremely slow and inattentive. The whole place seemed really dank and dingy. I ordered the Biscuit HI and when it finally arrived the portion was decent but I guess I was expecting more. The sausage was burnt on the outside and very dry. My friend got the pancakes which looked much better than what I got so maybe it was just my dish that was lackluster. On the bright side the orange juice was fantastic. read more

I'm always rushing to get breakfast before work - but McDonalds just doesn't cut it at 6am. Not only do they cook incredibly delicious American breakfasts, but they do so at a reasonable price AND for people in a hurry like me you can call in your order. Yeah there are some older guys here but they make great conversation and hardly any background noise- unlike iHop or Denny's. Our server was really nice very attentive and friendly. The food was good they have all day breakfast I didn't order breakfast tho. I had a a tuna melt that is not listed on the menu it's listed as daily special on a board when you walk in. The tuna melt was good. I dropped by this cafe a while back when I bought a groupon deal. I have to say, the place looked pretty outdated. There's a little bar to the east which smelt of smoke and beer. No big deal though, I came for the food. Well, we ordered and the food came. The burger my husband bought was decent, it was a little soggy but he ate it. I ordered their fish burger and that it was surprisingly good. The fries that came with the burgers were decent. Nothing too special. While out of town on business, I needed a place to eat breakfast and not wanting the normal food chain fare, I was told by the hotel staff that Callie's is the place to go. You can see the difference when you walk in. It reminds you of a mom and pop kind of place, only a little bigger. At 10:00 am on a Sunday the place was already hopping. I noticed that there were several large groups of people already seated, but there was still plenty of room for the patrons and wait staff to move around. What I particularly liked was that there was a dining bar with stools for people such as myself who were dining alone. Because of the crowd that had been there before me, I had a bit of a wait for my order, but it was well worth it. I ordered the 1/2 Garbage Omelet and asked that the accompanying hash browns be cooked extra crispy. Generally when I request that I get varying degrees of what some think is crispy from almost raw to totally burnt. I rarely get hash browns cooked to my liking. When my meal came I was pleasantly surprised. The hash browns were cooked to perfection, the omelet was also perfectly cooked and the toast was the great thick sliced kind. The Garbage Omelet contains everything you can imagine being put into such a concoction and even though I only ordered the 1/2 size, it was still much more than I could eat. It was totally delicious. The only negative about my meal was the coffee. I love a good cup and found that Callie's is a little too weak for my taste. The wait staff and bus boys were constantly stopping by to fill my coffee cup or water glass. Even though Tabitha was my waitress, the other waitresses would still check on me as they walked by. We have gone to Callie's on Sunday mornings, always had good food and service. Today, it wasn't busy, but the waitress acted like we were in her personal space. The menu says "pork chops and eggs". Now wouldn't that lead you to believe plural on the chops? Especially after ordering them on Sundays and getting 2? The waitress argued about it, his (my husband's) toast was burnt and soggy. I thought this place would have some great home cooking. The hamburger meat was flatter than a McDonald's Happy Meal burger, if that's even possible, and not so fresh tasting. The Tater tots tasted like they were fried in oil that was years old and had fried up some burnt "stuff". Completely inedible. I was very disappointed. My credit card was charged an extra dollar. My bill was $19.05 and I tipped them $3.00 which is a total of $21.05. It was very clear on the receipt. Don't know how they would mistaken $3 for $4. Or $21.05 for $22.05. Either they have very bad eyes or they purposefully stole a dollar from me hoping and counting that customer will not make a fuss over a dollar. Really like this spot for a good hearty breakfast. I always end up with the platter with eggs, bacon, pancakes - perfect. Husband has had the item that's essentially a pile of delicious breakfast items. The chicken fried steak and eggs doesn't compare to my favorite spot in TX but does the job. Visited for breakfast today on the weight of some seriously misguided reviews here about Callie's Cafe. Their coffee was awful. It was Coffee Bean Tea, no more, no less. It had no body or charm of any kind to it! The Denver omelet i tried was only okay, but the hash browns were boiled potatoes, fried on the grill only on one side. Maybe they needed to bring some gravy out to go with the boiled potatoes drenched in grease below the fried topside. The initial presentation looked fine, just like how good advertising executives make a plate look before taking a beautiful picture of it to put in an ad, that is then placed in some print media or internet ad somewhere. It's just that when you lift the top off, then truth is revealed. I'll give 1 star here as the waitress tried really hard to make it right for me, including brewing another pot of coffee. But on the whole, 1 star is gratuitous. The new pot was at least drinkable where she had used 2 of the pre-measured packets of grounds to make it, but I'll not pay what I had to at this restaurant for a cup of coffee again. read more

Surprisingly diverse menu for what you would guess. We had chicken enchiladas and chicken Parmesan tonight. Both were excellent. Special was Prime Rib which I have ordered before and found it excellent. They offer homemade soups and very tasty chili. Breakfast anytime is a must. Servings are generous and an outstanding value. But save room for the wonderful apple dumplings for desert. Very friendly service too. read more
