a group of people sitting at tables

It's been years since I've been in a diner. I've been in lots of places that say they are a diner, but they don't know how to be a diner. This is the real thing The coffee is good, served in think ceramic cups with perfectly sized handle to feel proper in the hand. You can't go five minutes without someone asking if you need a refill. The sausage isn't a sweet Jimmy Dean's style. The bacon excellent. Service was great. Everything else was done well to excellent. This is a place I'd avoided for years because of mediocre experiences back in the day. It's too bad I'd not kept up on them. This is now my go to breakfast place.

Very disappointed my food was cold. The entire meal was cold. It arrived to the table super fast as if it was made ahead of time just sitting in tubs waiting to fill plates. I had high expectations for this place.

You know it's the real deal when you ask your server how the chicken fried steak is and she points to a woman behind the counter and says "my grandma loves it." Grandma approved! OK, I'll give it a shot. It's not trendy, state of the art or hipster. But this place is tried and true and has clientele that have been coming here for decades to prove it. If you're looking for some comfort food or a dish that reminds you of family tradition, I'd bet my next meal that you could find it here. One other thing that this café has that most similar places do not? Alcohol. You read that right. You can order a beer with your burger-you just have to show scannable ID (that's what the menu says.) There is a bar attached to the restaurant-although it has a completely separate entrance, so if you want to come with your family and don't want the bar scene, you're totally safe. Summary: decent food in a comfy, familiar place. There's a little something for everyone, as long as everyone wants some good family home cookin'.

Excellent Service. Food was delicious! I am a fussy eater and finding a place that can accommodate a keto diet is a real struggle. I ordered the ground beef steak, cottage cheese, and slices of tomatoes...it hit the spot. Thank you to our server, we'll be coming back the next time we pass through

The food is great and tastes well! The inside is a great and homie. The inside also cozy but it does get pretty loud and becomes hard to hear your party's conversation. This is a great place for a casual decent breakfast!

Double bacon cheeseburger and fries

First time to this establishment and I'm so glad we came. Three of us ordered the bacon cheese burger and fries and it was delicious. The fries are all fresh cut and the buffalo chips taste like circle seasoned curly fries and are delicious. The fish and chips were some of the best I've had in all of Utah. The service was fast and friendly as well. Can't wait to try the breakfast.

So if your looking for an amazing place where down to earth people come to enjoy a meal and good conversation this is it!!! I felt like I was back home mingling with my locals! This just has a good old feel of true American pride here!!!! The customer service is great and they are on top of it getting you seated. Our waitress was amazing and on top of her game. Truly appreciate the service Sierra!!! I'm so glad I found this place!!! Now the food is another thing!!!! I had the game steak and eggs!!! Let me say better come hungry, this place is fit for a king!!' Can't be no geek of the street and try and manhandle this meal!!! It is not for the faint!!! Better come prepared. Perfectly cooked and so juicy!!! Wife had the corn beef hash and eggs, she truly enjoyed it and said. It was amazing. The price here is about right especially with all the inflation going on here!! I do believe this an amazing establishment with good hardworking people, who truly enjoy serving the customers. I will be coming back here again real soon and enjoy some good food!!!! Thanks Calies's kitchen!

Callie's is DEFINITELY underrated. This isn't the world's greatest restaurant, but they definitely deserve more than their overall 3 star rating. Here's why: FOOD. The food is dang good! It tastes like something your grandma would cook you. Especially if she was trying to fatten you up or something. Almost like home style cooking. Sure, the place has old chairs and seems a little run down. But I think that adds to the cozy feel. It's the type of place where the waitress knows your name and you can tell her "I'll have the usual!" And chances are there will be a biker gang in here having breakfast when you come. Overall, fun vibe with yummy food. I'll be back.

My favorites are the fish dishes, which change sometimes, but its hard to go wrong with the variety they have. Today I had the tuna poké, but I ate it before I could take a picture. The portion sizes are good. I'd say to save money don't get sides, but.. I did. The portions on the sides is not worth $6. I wouldn't but from here if it wasn't better quality than most restaurants. I would go more often if it wasn't so expensive.. but comparable to aubergine

I had a hard time eating mine so I got a to-go box to take half of it home; my fiancé also had some left over. The portion was was large which was nice, but I usually finish mine when it's not so salty. The guacamole on top was barely edible. I also noticed that here, they put a large amount of the dressing on top; at the Park City location, they put the dressing on the side. The place was nice and spacious, the staff was nice, and the service was fast. The food did look quite fresh behind the counter. I think that if they can nail the details like the dressing on the side and the saltiness, they will do great. Overall, I'm very glad that a Vessel Kitchen is finally open in the Provo/Orem area!

So unique and flavorful. For the main entree, the gnocchi and winter pasta were also a hit. Hard to top the soup and salad though! To top it all off, the pumpkin pie panna cotta was amazing. They included it free of charge, as an anniversary gift. What a nice surprise! Great service, great food, great time.

However, we did have one drink server where we had some issues with, but our main waitress was lovely. For starters, our table shared the baked ricotta, balsamic glazed brussel sprouts, and bread rolls with honey and butter. The brussel sprouts were good, but the bread rolls were my favorite! They were so incredibly soft and pillowy. They honestly didn't even need the bread and butter! I was most excited for the baked ricotta, but unfortunately it was a disappointment for me. Ricotta is a very mild cheese to begin with, but I tasted absolutely zero flavor from it and it was mostly just adding a textural element to the bread. The fig walnut guanciale jam was overpoweringly sweet and the guanciale was also nonexistent. Overall, what I expected to be a flavorful combination, fell pretty flat and bland for me. Onto the main, I got to try the Block burger and the house made gnocchi. The burger was a standard burger, nothing too crazy. I was surprised the patty was actually moist because it was cooked well done. The same jam from the baked ricotta was used, so wasn't a big fan of it because again the overwhelmingly sweet didn't do much to elevate the burger. I also missed any flavor from the truffle cheese sauce. So it was a pretty average burger. My gnocchi definitely tasted better than it looked. Another friend also got the same dish and it looked like they just split our portions in half and served it on two separate plates. In general, I wasn't a big fan of this dish. The braised short rib was very tender, but the whole plate sat in a pool of salty sauce. I couldn't really make out any other flavors. The scoop of crème fraiche tasted exactly like sour cream and was not the consistency that I expected. The gnocchi's were made well, but I prefer mine a little firmer. However, this is complete personal preference. Overall, service was good, but food fell severely short of what I expected. I was so excited for all of these elevated flavors and ingredients, but, sadly, none of them came through.

For food, the calmari frita it was called but it was squid, some kind of white fish, shrimp along with fried, thinly sliced red onion, bell pepper and jalapeño. GET THIS, one of the best things of the night! When you do get it, make sure you get bites of the chopped veggie mixture that's buried under all the fried goodness, thank me later. Main course, we got the Parillada de Buenos Aires, this is where the issues start, our waiter said we were able to sub out a couple of the items on platter as tripe and sweetbreads (the glands of a veal if you weren't aware) are not things we enjoy. So we swapped them out for a chicken milenesa and a grilled chicken breast. It also came with 1 each of the sides that were pretty basic, and honestly lacked flavor in comparison (rice, potato salad, house salad, mashed potatoes and roasted veggies). Then the meats it comes with, a half chicken, a 12 oz skirt steak, 4 short ribs, some other grilled cut of meat (menu doesn't specify what kind) and a variety of sausages. The waiter, through super nice, totally messed up the substitutions. He brought them out but from the time ordered to the time we ate was about an hour, and for the correct food to come out took even longer. The food itself was pretty good, meats had great flavor and the milenesa when it came out was hot and juicy. The meats didn't need any dipping sauce because they were that well seasoned. Dessert we had the lemon "cheesecake" which was just a lemon cake with a cream cheese type frosting, not at all what you think of with a cheesecake.

When we arrived and sat down, we were greeted by Joe telling us that "House rules, you're not allowed to order the same item". Lol. Love that guy! We both ordered Denver omelets, one without onions, extra mushrooms, French toast, and grits and one without mushrooms, hash browns, and pancakes. First off, the pancakes were amazing! They're light, had crispy edges, and had a wonderful flavor. But the best thing was it was in the shape of little donuts, which was a nice surprise. Our entrees came but were somehow got switched. We didn't realize it at first but both were still good. Unfortunately, my wife put Chalula on hers and I put Tobasco on mine and we don't like each other's choice of condiments. The other unfortunate thing was that I had an eggshell in my omelet. Even though we had these misfortunes you can't hide the flavor of these dishes and they certainly don't skimp on toppings. My grits were too sweet today. If it's too sweet for me, it must've been really sweet. The only other criticism I saw was that they were filling the syrup bottles from large Log Cabin jugs. They also were using Idahoan shredded potatoes from a large carton. I can understand the potatoes but how great would it be to have freshly made syrup. Still a great experience and they are still one of the best breakfast places on the state.
