I can see why it's titled as 'Utah's best". Prices are very reasonable. Parking & space inside are limited. However, they have a drive thru window if you're willing to wait through it. Took one star off because they're closed on weekends & this really limits our ability to enjoy the food more often. Yo DO NOT sleep on this place. Nobody comes to the West side of Provo, but they should because this place is amazing. The clam chowder is the best I've ever had. And the prices are ridiculous! They're going to have something for everyone, and the service is phenomenal. Everytime I've gone the place is always humming along. I came here for lunch on a Friday, and it was busy which I felt like was a good sign! We seated ourselves and the waitress was quick to take our order. My dad and I both got sandwiches in combos, and the price was fannntastic. It was like 12 bucks for each of our meals which included a good sized sandwich, fries, and a drink. I got the Italian sandwich, it was sooo messy but soo yummy. And my dad got their great steak sandwich which looked easier to manage. I have been recommended their French dip so I will be returning soon to try that. It was crowded and a little loud but it's just because the space is smaller. Clean. Nice and quick service. This is an unassuming restaurant that has some great sandwiches. This was my first time eating here, and when I walked in, it was completely empty. Do not let that deter you. I asked the person working what was the most popular sandwich and which one was their favorite. I chose the steak sandwich with cream cheese and an order of fries. The steak sandwich has mushrooms peppers tomatoes all in cream cheese, which is gooey goodness on a soft roll. The fries are crispy on the outside and are thicker fries which I like. It looks like their fry sauce is homemade which is also a plus. Don't let the exterior fool you, check this place out. I will definitely be back. This place is close to where my son lives and he and his wife go regularly. Such delicious food! We had 5 in our party and 4 different orders. All the sandwiches were fantastic! Highly recommend the Chicken Malibu sandwich, the Big Daddy Burger, the Chicken and Everything Sandwich, and the French Dip. And the fries with the in house fry sauce were over the top. I love this place! They should totally be on Guy Fieri's triple D show! Which should tell you all about the type of atmosphere to expect. They have all sorts of great food items and daily specials. When I feel like treating myself, I will go on Friday's to get the ribs. If you like fall off the bone, and simple bbq sauce ribs then these are the ones to get! They are consistent in flavor and quality. They always fall right off the bone just by almost simply touching them. It's also a pretty good size of ribs as well. The fries are also pretty good. They season them well and they are hot and generally consistently cooked just right. They also provide some very sauce but if you run out there is plenty of BBQ sauce with the ribs lol. My only complaint would be that they used to be a bit cheaper. I'm not sure why the price has gone up but they have raised it twice now. Okay I was pleasantly surprised. Pretty rugged looking building but they are a mom-and-pop and they had a drive through so I tried it. I just got their number one combo. The fries were thick so crispy on the outside and soft inside and covered with seasoning salt. The cheesesteak was hot and flavorful. Today I was needing lunch driving through Provo. In very boring fashion I had selected Wendy's. However when I got off the exit I saw this place and I locked up the brakes. I pretty much let them choose what I should get and I got a steak sandwich with cream cheese on it. I was in a hurry and was late to a meeting, but the sandwich was so good I pulled over got out of my car and enjoyed it at a little park. It was truly amazing, and the fries were cooked and seasoned to perfection. I will be back! It's time to update this review. Today, we were trying to be good and stay on the diet. We ordered one combo. They brought a nice glass of water and a second plate so we could split it easily. In the original review I didn't point out that this is waiter served, uses real ceramic plates, and they went out of the way to help us. This is a good old grill place with good food and decent prices. It's a family run place with really great service from the staff. Only been here once. I've heard a lot of good things about Great Stake. I came about 2 o'clock in the afternoon and there was nobody here. My food came out in less than three minutes piping hot. The presentation of the food can't be beat. The fries are super hot and seasoned well. The price of the burger is about what you pay at Wendy's. The bun is super soft and tasty. I have no complaints. My son purchased take-out, so we can't refer to a meal eaten in-restaurant. The burgers were tasty, but veggies (tomato, lettuce) were a bit soggy/wilted. One of our burgers had a center piece of lettuce w/ that thick white vein, making it difficult to eat. One burger seemed a bit overdone, and a little dry. Fries & onion rings were both good, still crunchy when food arrived @ our home, w/ accompanying fry sauce. Onion rings were our favorite-tasted home made w/ crunchy thick onion. We want to return and eat in-restaurant next time. We understand their weekly special, chicken fried steak, is worth trying! And we'd like to try their steak, cheese and peppers sandwich, too. This is the second time my wife and I have come here, and each experience has been lovely. The food is good, the prices are great, and the staff is friendly. I'm especially impressed with the turkey bacon avocado melt that my wife had. She let me have a bite and it was absolutely heavenly! Now, I do have to advise caution when entering because the gutter in front of the place is pretty carved out and you're likely to scrape your bumper trying to enter, but otherwise no complaints. There is currently no place for dine-in, but this does make the Great Steak Grill a great destination for picnic food. Good, old-fashioned small town drive-through or dine-in grill. Drive-through is about as rudimentary as it gets any longer. Tiny order window with zero appeal, followed by an even more miniature pickup window which seems like a joke at first, until it's opened by a barely visible person reaching through to get your money. I'm skeptical every time about my food fitting through it. But it does, bless 'em. I love LOVE love that they offer a Chicken and Everything as an alternative to their Steak and Everything. I don't eat much beef, and the Chicken is really delicious...especially when it comes with Philly cream cheese vs. provolone. Good grilled veggies - could use more onions, though - including peppers and tomatoes, all chopped finely and lightly grilled with the meat. The buns served with the sandwiches are soft, but hold together fairly well for the type of sub they are. The interior is not quite so cooperative; if you're a fan of breaking a cheesesteak-type sandwich apart with your hands, these don't work so well with you. But, I care much more about the taste. Service here is interesting - drive through only (I've never dined in here). One of the two guys who seem like owners/management is friendly and informative, and seems to care about the customer experience; the other appears very begrudging and bitter about helping anyone. You'd think something would rub off on the other, but it doesn't appear to ever change. The teenage staff working here are relatively dim, but still sorta helpful, and seem to try to do a good job. I haven't had any of them, but everyone tells me their burgers are worth trying. The fries are one of the highlights of GSG; pretty good, if you get them on a crispy day rather than a soggy day. Not sure what happens, but it seems to be one or the other, very little in between. Fry sauce is standard to me, but others I know prefer it to various local burger places. Shakes are really good. Really good. I've had a variety, all delicious. I've never gone wrong with any shake I've had here. I have been to this place twice in the last month. Both times I have been very pleased with what I have ordered. The first time I ordered a steak and everything. The sandwich was full of meat that was properly seasoned, and went to the end of the roll, and the tomatoes onions and green peppers were all fresh. You could tell the French fries were fresh cut and not frozen, and were also properly seasoned. The second time I ordered a burger, and I was also very pleased with that meal as well. I could tell the meat was not frozen or thawed, was very flavorful and cooked to perfection. The bun was also fresh and perfectly toasted.
