This place is highly regarded as the best Philly in the area. It's really good, but I'm not sure I'm prepared to say it's "great." Several options to how you can order your sandwich and my personal favorite is the pepper steak. I have to get it "without" catsup, mayo, pickles, and relish. I'm not sure who the monster is that puts catsup on a Philly, but here we are. Portions are decent, pricing is in line (it's not cheap, nor should it be.) There really isn't any service as you order from a counter and pick up your own food at the counter. This does lead me to dislike the tip shaming at the registers. Full disclosure I have never had a Philly sub in Philadelphia. But this place has good sandwiches. The bread is excellent and they put plenty of meat. It's not all lettuce like some chain sandwich stores. The shop itself is in a strip mall and can get crowded but is definitely worth it. read more

This sub shop is near Hill AFB. They are in a plaza with other shops and have a shared parking lot. I went on a Monday around 11:15 a.m. and they were getting busy. They have a number of variants on the standard sub, so you start by answering a series of questions about how you want yours (bread, cheese, ingredients, etc.). Then you pay and get a number. They also have a rack of chips to choose from. They have a dining room with about 10 tables. Some customers are just hanging out at one waiting on their to-go orders, but some opted for dine-in. I think the sandwich was done in about 5 minutes. They chop the meat and other fillings quite fine. I thought it was pretty tasty, overall. If I lived or worked in the area, I'd definitely consider returning here. read more

So she got the Philly and I got the ham and turkey So we share and she gave me half of the Philly and it was truly amazing and delicious. Would definitely get again. We were starving and found this delicious hideaway. If you're a Cheesesteak fan you must check this place out. The buns are perfect just as of you were in Philly. The meat exceptional and the sizes are huge. I ordered a small size but mine small was at least 8 inches. It was also loaded with all of the great fixings. It's an hour drive from my house but so worth it. They close early on Saturdays at 3pm. That's the only downside. The rest of the week they close at 6pm. It's the perfect game day sandwich. Have smelled Philadelphia Sub Shop's beef cooking from outside many times when shopping at the nearby End Zone game & Lego shop. I'm glad we finally gave this locally-owned indie Philly cheesesteak shop a try. Three sandwich roll sizes are available-- easy to choose since there are breads tacked up on the wall. (Couldn't help wonder what Gordon Ramsay would say. LOL) At $11 for an 8-inch regular cheesesteak plus additional for chips and soda it's not an inexpensive quick bite, yet we found it a fair value given that we got here apparently near closing and they didn't make us feel rushed and pleasantly walked thru the menu options. For such a small shop there were a lot of people behind the counter in the open kitchen. They seem to have a well greased machine a-rollin'. In the end, our cheesesteaks were juicy, flavorful, steak-plump Italian rolls. Not huge yet still satisfying. My wife and I split a $13 12-inch sammie and our son went with the 8-inch regular. We went the provolone direction of the traditional debate -- no American/Cheese Whiz for us please -- and it was awesome to find traditional options the standard: seasoned chopped beef, griddled onions, and spicy peppers. Bell peppers are an 80-cent upgrade if that matches your experience with "Philly Beef" sandwiches. And if you don't like the cheese options, or are lactose-intolerant, you can save a little on price and order them without. One house-standard option they do is include pickles on the hot cheesesteaks, which while unexpected were a tangy pleasure like you'll find with a hot Cuban sandwich. I was surprised to learn about this cheesesteak spot in a little strip mall in Clearfield that I've probably driven past a hundred times. I actually saw something on TikTok, of all places. It was pretty full on a Monday around lunch time, which is always a good sign. When you walk in, your schnoz is hit with the sweet sweet aroma of peppers, onions and meat on the grill. This place didn't disappoint. The cheesesteaks are huge, and come with the option of hot peppers, which we loved. The bread is just right - nice and light so it doesn't mute out the flavors of the cheesesteak. Thick heavy bread will bring dishonor to an otherwise glorious philly cheesesteak. Somehow I didn't notice that if you ask for it to come with everything, it includes ketchup. (Cue: needle scratching across a vinyl record) LOL I'm sorry, but ketchup bastardizes a philly, IMO. But now that I'm in the know, I'll make sure to ask for everything EXCEPT ketchup on my next visit, because I will most definitely be back for more. They have quite the selection of hot sammies to choose from. I need to go with a group so we can get different things and share so I can burn through the menu more quickly.
