Warm summer day and I was craving a quick bite to eat along with an ice cold smoothie. Tried the Fresh Shrimp Rolls appetizer along with the Peach Foaming Ice Yogurt smoothie. The spring rolls were full of abundant shrimp and bean sprouts + spinach/green leaves (which is exactly what I was looking for). They also came with a side of peanut sauce which was equally delicious but not necessary; (because the rolls themselves were that good)! The Peach Smoothie really blew my mind in regards to an abundance of fresh fruit (peaches) and equal amounts of yogurt + ice. I used to be able to grab a banh mi on any corner when I was living in orange county, CA, but luckily for me Pho Banh is nearby! This place definitely hit my banh mi craving. You get the crusty bread, a good runny yolk, and the spice from the jalepenos. I wish there was more cilantro and pickled daikon/carrot but overall this was a very solid sandwich. Bonus, the whole place smells like star anise, so comforting! You can add toppings (highly recommend the sriracha for your sando) and theres clean bathrooms, a large parking lot, and free water. Room for a group or just a lunch out by yourself. Service took a minute but they make your stuff to order. Food was WONDERFUL! The banh mi was so good! Loved that the water had lime which was a nice touch. The food was fresh and delicious. I honestly have no notes. The vibes and service was the let down for me. The staff were not friendly. There were some discolored open sriracha bottles on the tables which just wasn't great. None of this would stop me from coming back to get another one of these delicious sandwiches but it does keep it from having a 5/5 rating for me. Also the prices were very good. Poor service. No one greets you. They have automated order boards, you seat yourself with a number. Finally front person shows up but walks past you to the bathroom with his phone. We see the pictures on menu board... we order. Our food does not look as advertised. Pho broth is milky and warm. We ordered extra Tendon at $4 and it's overcooked and like snot balls. We ordered the fried dough stick and picture shows it golden brown and crispy . I buy these frozen I know how to cook them. I tell the front counter person can it be air fried and he says "that's the way it's suppose to be? Frozen and microwaved???? I told him I know it's suppose to be fried. They also are heating up hot French bread someone else's order. I asked can my microwaved frozen dough me heated he said he can't take food back behind the counter once it's given to the customer I get that but don't argue with me on how food supposed to be prepared. It's frozen dough. You either reheat in the air fryer or you fry it you don't microwave it from the freezer. I saw staff take from freezer I noted to my spouse it's the same brand we use. Look at the color. It's pasty white and it has signs of freezer burn . Pho broth should be hot enough to cook the rare meat. Overall nasty I'm attaching photos from their menu and what we received And you have to pay and give tip in advance ! Then you get your own water, bus your own tables. I wouldn't mark this establishment as a traditional pho restaurant. You order up front at a counter, get your own drinks - aside from menu ones - and clean up after yourself as well. The drinks were expensive and we had to take it off of our order because it vastly changed the bill. The food had pretty good flavor and I was pleasantly surprised ! Pricey at $33, it was a star (my friend ordered it for her birthday), with the "best brisket ever " and full of veggies and the rich broth that Pho Kitchen is known for. She's been to many Vietnamese places all over the U.S. and was in a long term relationship with a Vietnamese, so can judge a Pho. She gave it a 9/10. I Was very disappointed by the quality of the soup here. The Bún Bò Huế had no flavor and tasted old. You can see the bubbles at the top of the soup. The meat ( ribs ) was dry and tough to eat. The meatballs had a very sour taste. The oxtail soup was the opposite. It was extremely flavorful, but there wasn't enough oxtail in there for the price. It's not worth it. Pho....i love it and have been eating it for 30 years. I have spent many years perfecting my own recipes with the help of endless recipe research and the influence of my Vietnamese in-laws. I know good pho. This is a solid place. Not the best and far from the worst I've eaten. The broth is clean and does had the medicinal spice aroma and taste that it should. The broth is a little lacking in depth and the collagen stickiness that I prefer which comes from roasting the beef bones and a long cooking process. However this is a real house constructed broth and not an instant concentrate that so many use to cut down on cooking time. If you are looking for protein Pho Bahn is generous! Loaded with meat and chewy noodles it's a great value no doubt. Friendly service and clean this is a wonderful stop for a quick bowl of pho that is right off the freeway. I've had this place one other time and it was pretty good that time. It's been over seven years though and I'm now back into town and this time it was amazing! I had the oxtail and meatball pho! I've been to this restaurant many a time with my family and partner. Every time, I get very good food for a great price. You get a big bowl of soup with meat or tofu for $15 at most. I personally prefer the beef and sirloin dish. I came here yesterday around five and as always the food was delicious. I could tell they are training new staff or something similar by the difference in taste, though. It wasn't as good as it usually was and the meat was piled in the center- meaning it didn't properly cook and much of it was close to or flat out raw. Sadly I wouldn't recommend their bobas or drink simply because they're expensive. They are delicious though, so if you want to spend the money go ahead. We love Pho, so when this place came to Layton we were so happy. Their Pho is on point in taste, and condiments. The broth is so comforting, especially when I'm having an off day. Service was fast even though I was told it could have been 15 min for my spring rolls, it seemed like it was much faster than that. Either way I eagerly waited with a number placard and my Thai Iced boba tea. The Báhn Mì was the best thing ever!!!! The BBQ lemongrass pork was absolutely to die for with a minty, lemony-citrusy flavor, complimented by the pickled carrots, fresh crisp cucumber, herby cilantro and spicy jalapeño! The bread was crusty on the outside, super soft on the inside and the sandwich is massive! I almost couldn't finish it but I did! The spring rolls were good and filled with lots of shrimp! They were a tiny bit different than my favorite ones, and I wasn't a big fan of the maybe pickled onions or otherwise onions in the rolls. Small business with friendly staff. I got the spicy pork banh mi and my husband got the pho. The pate on the banh mi had a nice flavor. They added a twist by adding like a lime crema sauce to it as well. The spicy pork was tender but not spicy at all. I would still recommend and get it again. Went with a bowl of their Meatball Pho and the Korean Beef Banh Mi. Overall really good Pho, great flavor, and perfectly seasoned. I added some hoisin and sriracha too. The Banh Mi good, but I felt the bread just didn't live up to some of the other sandwiches I've had. Service was super fast, and we got our food in less than 5 minutes. The best you are going to get from Layton and up north. It lacks fragrance but the flavor is there. Great service, sweet old grandpa definitely treats it like his own baby.
