Door dashed some spicy veggie fried rice and the mushroom croquette appetizer. Good portion, made reasonably spicy. I would have liked more vegetables to be added to the dish but was still enjoyable. First time I've tried mushroom croquettes before and they were not bad. I may to try order a noodle dish from here in the future. read more

Love the new menu. Excellent authentic Thai food. One of my favorite mom&pop restaurants. Definitely back to pre-pandemic quality and service (didn't the no-dine-in days suck?!?). Wonderful service, and there's always a relaxed atmosphere even when they are busy. I intend to work my way through all the new items. Love that they have soo many vegan and vegetarian options, and still have excellent meat for my carnivores. Specialty curries include Pumpkin and Mango. The yellow curry puffs are tasty. The hot Thai crispy chicken wings were the best appetizer so far! Super crispy wings, with a sweet and spicy sauce and crispy basil. The rice and pad Thai dishes are delicious. I can't really complain about the food here. The Thai curries were all very good. I always go with the yellow curry and it was really good. I also ordered the coconut soup and it was just OK. I probably would get the other soup they offer for next time. my wife also ordered another curry and it was great. Service was pretty good and the restaurant is pretty basic. The place is still good for the price, but I have found other Thai restaurants that are better. When I want a bargain I'll still come here.

Stopped by this Thai place on the way to Logan and was very pleased. I ordered the shrimp fried rice and vegetarian egg rolls. The shrimp fried rice lacked a little bit of salt or pizazz but overall was pretty yummy. The egg rolls were crispy and fresh (not that frozen taste). Now their salad dressing was probably my favorite haha. I asked what it was but the server doesn't even know because it's a restaurant secret. I wish I knew so I could have this yummy salad all the time! Great customer service with very attentive staff. I got a delicious banana wonton at the end of my meal as well. This place is ok, and if only comparing it to other Thai restaurants in Utah, I'd say it's pretty good. The portions are just a little small for the price. For example, my wife's shrimp pad Thai was $16.99 but only had 4 or 5 shrimp. I was glad though we were able to get a hot meal on a Sunday evening! read more

I was pleasantly surprised to find more Thai food I enjoy! I've been cautious entering this cuisine because of the coconut milk and the reputation for lots of heat. Shame on me! $8.99 Lunch specials during the week. Co-worker ordered the Thai Basil Chicken with the Coconut Milk Soup. I asked the waiter what he would suggest in curry for a beginner and he suggested what I was considering - Chicken Green Curry - and went with the hot and sour soup. HUGE portions! My co-worker eats Thai food frequently, and even he had to leave just a touch of it on his plate. He gifted me his egg roll, which I ate, along with my own. The salad had a wonderful dressing AND wonton chips, which I think belong on an Asian salad. The hot and sour soup was NOT like the Chinese soup I'm used to and it was amazing! As for the curry, it was contained in a bowl so I could fork out what I wanted and eat it with the rice at my own pace. The chili sauce on the side was tasty and wasn't very hot, which tells me he heard me when I said "beginner." They were seriously busy and appeared to have only 2 servers and some sporadic help from the kitchen. Even so, servers smiled and listened when it was your turn. DEFINITELY returning! read more

Dined here with my mom, sisters (including my sister in law, the pickiest eater who ever did eat), and my niece. Between the seven of us, we have a broad range of tastes and preferences when it comes to food, so dining out is always an experience (sometimes a not-so-fun one). We had lunch here on a Saturday around 1pm, and they were busy, but not full. They easily and quickly accommodated our larger group by pushing two tables together (it is a small-ish restaurant), and speedily brought out drinks. Most of us opted for the lunch special (props for it still being on offer on weekends!), and it is a steal at $8.99. In addition to your chosen entrée, it includes a salad, soup, egg roll, rice, and dessert. First off, they were a special, but if available, get yo'self an order of the curry puffs. Or two or three. EVERYONE loved them (again, consider those picky eaters), and while not possessing a strong curry flavor like I expected, they were just truly delicious deep fried crispy vegetable filled pockets of delight. For lunch, I had the green curry, and it was a good rendition, if unexceptional. Medium spice was a perfect level for me (be aware, it's the sort that builds). The salad is teeny, but the sesame dressing is yum. The dessert, too, is simply a wonton folded in half with a lil' banana inside, and a drizzle of honey, but overall you are getting a lot of food, and I really enjoyed the variety all these little sides afforded. Oh, and the well-cooked rice is served in the shape of a heart, guys. Awwww. Service was prompt and cheery. The owner was all over the place helping, greeting customers, and just being a cutie. Last week we were on our way from Las Vegas to Washington. We stopped over Ogden,Utah for a night. Big mistake with hotel. That is another story to share. We figured let's try some Thai food here. This restaurant has decent reviews and nice website. We ordered 3 items. LET ME TELL YOU! We didn't enjoy them at all. Hate to say bad things about this restaurant but those of you who write good reviews and say you have been to Thailand or have visitors who had been to Thailand and love Thai food from this place. Stopped by this place for dinner after a day on the slopes. We wanted something to hit the spot. This place was super yummy. Service was a little slow for a Sunday, as they had a ton of to go orders, but we we weren't in any rush. The food made up for that. We had green curry and salmon curry and it was delish! It sucks that I wasn't able to dine in with all that's going on, but I did pick up some chicken pad Thai for lunch one day. It was ready by the time he said it would be, so that was great. Let's start off with they give you a pretty decent amount. I def couldn't finish in one sitting. The give you crushed red pepper on the side. Which to me of course wasn't spicy but that's probably because I have a high spice tolerance. I wish they would ask how spicy you would like it and fry it straight into the dish. There's definitely a lot of bean sprouts put into this. It had good flavor but it could've used just a tad bit more flavor. Just felt like something was missing. This place is definitely a value. The portions and price are worthy of five stars. My stir fry that was about $11 lasted me nearly three meals. I don't think I'd be able to finish the dish by myself even on the hungriest of days. If you pay with cash, they give you 10% of your bill. We ended up getting spring rolls and two stir fries and we paid $10+ less at this location than we did at a Thai place in Layton just two weeks ago. That's a significant difference and we both liked Ruan Thai better. So with all the praise, why only three stars? The shrimp in the spring rolls didn't taste very fresh and the sauce they served it with wasn't my favorite. The veggies in my stir fry were closer to raw than steamed. I was hoping that after reheating my leftovers they would be better, but they were still on the raw/tough side. I knew better from reading other reviews, but in case you don't believe the others, check your tab before you pay. I was coming out of a day of training and exhausted and should've paid $28.97+whatever tax is, and after giving them $40 I received $1.06 in change (coincidentally, they do NOT do a discount for cash as other yelpers have reported). It's my own fault, but you've been warned. When I came in, they flipped the screen on the register as a receipt and it had a box over the items and since I was paying with cash I just handed it to them, and then stupidly left a tip on top of it. When I called initially to place my to go order they were out of a few items but were able to make substitutions on the dish they could. They gave me a pad Thai instead of a pad see ew, but at least it was vegetarian (I was too hungry to care) and tasted decent. The vegetable tempora was nothing special but again, tasted okay. There was no silverware, napkins, etc. in the bag so we were on our own. Moral of the story... Don't go here if you're not ready to check everything with a fine tooth comb, they clearly take advantage of people. I know for future work trips to not eat at this establishment. read more

One of my absolute favorite places to eat! I LOVE eating here. The service is amazing. They are fast and kind always making sure we have everything that we need. (Shoutout to Vince since he's the BEST!) Their pumpkin curry and massaman curry is my absolute favorite! I could eat it every single day and never get tired of it. Been years since I have eaten here; I prefer Arroy-D. But they were closed on Sunday so I went to Ruan Thai. The menu has drastically improved since the last time I was here. I wish the ambiance was as nice as the other Thai places in town. I ordered the vegetable tempura appetizer, a green curry with chicken, and a Thai iced tea. A salad also came with my entree (I didn't know that; if I had, I would have skipped the appetizer). All was yummy, presentation stellar. But--I ordered my curry spice level to be a 2...and it was so hot I could barely eat it. I like spicy foods, but I just didn't want that today. If that was a 2, I shudder to think what a 3 or 4 is like. Normally I enjoy taking home leftovers for lunch, but I just left what was uneaten on the table this time. Shame. I highly recommend the sampler! We also got the drunken noodles, which I mean how can you go wrong! They were delicious and the veggies were so fresh. These guys have always had good Thai food and they are doing an amazing job keeping things clean and safe during the 'Rona. Great food, kind servers. One of my party members has been to multiple trips to Thailand, specifically for the food, and was incredibly pleased with this restaurant. My party of three ordered pad thai, yum woom sen, and tom yum gai. Some Thai places do not serve their food spicy enough when you ask for it hot, but at Ruan Thai, this is not the case. Some of the best Vietnamese food in Ogden. I got the Gyoza and the chicken pho and it was delicious. Before the meal they served a simple and delicious salad that had a sesame seed dressing and a fried wonton. The seafood pho was also really good. It had scallops, shrimp, salmon and some other seafood. They also had a lot of additional ingredients you can put in your food. One of the best things about the restaurant was the ambiance. They had a live singer who sang some classic songs and did a really good job. One of the waitresses also sung and she had a gorgeous voice! They also do karaoke there and also have dancing. I ended up here at the Ruan Thai restaurant for my 50 states Pho challenge for the state of Utah. I had 2 other bookmarks on yelp, but those lead to dead ends really. Glad I came here for Utah! I was quite satisfied with Ruan Thai restaurant since they serve Pho at 8:15pm on a Thursday night. Thankful for Yelp as always to let me know that there are menus online or photos of menus for me to look at. I came to Ogden, UT from Boise, ID for this very fact. It was basically an 4 hour drive that turned into 8 hours due to several rest stops along I-84. Usually Thai restaurants don't always serve other cuisines in addition to their own, but thank god for menus, as they had the Pho I was looking for. I stepped in around 8:15pm after trying to find the restaurant in the shopping complex. The restaurant is not really lighted up at night, so it took me a while before I finally found it hiding in the corner. The restaurant itself was pretty nice and of average sized. You know it's a good thing when the staff speaks Vietnamese or Thai. Ruan Thai restaurant is decorated much like a Chinese restaurant, but they have their own decor to showcase their homeland. I would recommend this place, if you craving Thai or Pho and in Ogden Ut. In my case, I was just passing through. The overall experience at Ruan Thai restaurant is good and casual. I first noticed that they offered a 10% off the menu, if you paid in cash. Thankfully, I had the cash to save a little bit. I spent about 35 minutes from start to finish here and it was very nice. I did enjoy the quiet ambiance of the evening, even though there was a group of women gossiping at a table near me. After looking over the menu, I decided on getting a size order of French fries to go along with my order of Pho. The wait time was about 10 minutes and it did not disappoint really. Ruan Thai restaurant is located conveniently at 215 W 12th Street in the heart of Ogden. They accept major credit cards, of course, but as mentioned before, you get 10% off your bill if you pay in cash. The restaurant has a small cul de sac of a parking lot, which sits adjacent to a larger parking area where a shopping center is. Plenty of parking there if you need one also. Not sure if there is public transit in the city of Ogden, but if there is, best bet is to check that out and haul ass here. It was one of the better Pho's I have had during my 50 states tour. The broth of the Pho was definitely darker and richer. The bean sprouts they gave me was good, although I should have asked for more. I do love extra bean sprouts with my Pho. The mixture of everything in the Pho made that 8 hour journey from Boise, UT well worth the effort! The side order of French fries was awesome and not the kind you get from McDonalds or Burger King. In fact, it was better than them. Hot off the fryer and good to go with ketchup! It was definitely well worth the drive and nice to be in Ogden for the first time ever. Too bad though, I drove back to Boise the next morning. Maybe next time for sure. Best bet is to save your appetite for Ruan Thai restaurant. It is off the beaten path, but I'm sure it's well worth the effort to get here. Service was nice and friendly. Will come here again, if my travels permit me to do so. 4.0 stars for the overall experience. 4.5 stars for the pho. Should have asked for extra bean sprouts. Oh well. 4.0 stars for the service. Not that I'm against bring your kids to work, but there should be room for them away from the patrons. They forgot to bring my rice until the meal was over, then acted like it wasn't a big deal.
