This is my wife and I's regular Thai spot, and for good reason! We're treated like family here, and the food is incredible as well. I'm from the SF Bay Area, and finding authentic Thai food after I moved was a such a blessing. Ok this is something you have to think about before coming to this cool spot. So first I'm from California and I have visited the best and some of the worst pho because of the broth. Here at Thai-Pho Kitchen is a great place to visit they have a nice establishment. The decor looks nice! For the food was great and it's all about the broth and here where it's a bit tricky. When i get pho it's usually a lot of noodles and meat. That's the way I see most pho establishment and everyone was use to that. April (the head chef) and Mike (the husband who works the front end). The dynamic duo work very hard to keep there doors open. I spoke to Mike and he was telling me that hard workers are hard to find and want to set a standard to find great employees. April is really smart about the portion control and you know why because as a customer she gave me the opportunity to enjoy the Broth it's self which is very clever of her to do and may i add she step away from the comfort zone. She is giving you the opportunity to taste the broth. The broth can compete with some of the thousands of pho restaurant in California. People think more is better but the way it's was made it was enough to taste the noodles and the brisket! So in short it's was a great balance of meat/noodles. Thank you for your hospitality Mike and thanks for coming out April to say hello to us and checking how was the food. Recommendation.... If I can recommend that you let the customer know it' is severed with good amount of portion of noddle/meat that's my thought process coming from California. Be honest and stay transparent and ask the costumer if your a noddle guy let them know for a extra price you can get more and also do the same for the meat portion. Again this is a suggestion, but it's great that you made me enjoy the broth more and gave the right amount of noodles and meat. Im all about Quality and this place is all about that. VERY BAD SERVICE !!! Found this place, we were in a group. We read the reviews then we noticed we were the only ones. We waited and waited probably 45 minutes. Then some couples came and they were served first and other group came and we were still waiting. Then the food came . The Phad see came 3 orders and it looked so dark and very very salty. They put too much noodles and salt but no other ingredients necessary.This is not the type of Thai food we expected. Very disappointing. And this restaurant charged too much! Customer service was great. The ambience was awesome, it felt comfortable. Our server was very friendly and made sure we felt welcomed. The pho broth was way to salty, I was shocked how much salt you could tasted, my nana when we got home, her blood sugar was very high, I had to give her some extra insulin, and at her house for extra hours to make sure it dropped to the normal. Everything else we had was good but the broth i don't know if it was just because whatever chef was working today messed up but boy o boy we will not be back. Had to really hit it hard with some of the pepper provided. I would not order it again. Service was great. Quick and unobtrusive. Overall I would dine here again just to try some of the other dishes but I would not get what I had during this visit. Also they charge a 3.99% credit card fee. Seems a bit steep. It's been a few weeks since I decided to write this review. I hadn't been down to this location in 4 years (according to the pictures I took of my last encounter.) The last time I was here, I drove over 64 miles one way to pick up PHO. You can see what it looked like when I got it home...PERFECT. That's how good it was four years ago. I decided to take a friend a few weeks ago and I noticed something different when I got there, it was darker, the bar was gone, the black T-Shirts on the wall were gone too. My memory had evaded me of the name which had changed...so did the food. It was once called World Famous PHO, but the name had changed to Thai-Pho Kitchen. I figured, when one opens a place of the same taste, it has to be good, it has to live up to the old name and old proprietors. Though the food for the World Famous Pho was outstanding, it's not a surprise it closed. My last in house eating (alone), the computers went down, so credit cards were not working. I watched the manager call the owner who eventually let over 25 people leave with free meals because they did not have cash on them. I heard the manager state the mother of the owner was slaving in the kitchen cooking, but she knew nothing about the credit card machine. Where was the owner, I wondered. I thought that night...this place will never survive when the manager is whining to customers about the owner and they can't figure out how to get the CC machine operationally. As I sat eating at the new establishment, I wondered if that was the demise of the old establishment. What would this hold for me and my associate. The first thing that happened, a child...yes a child came and asked if we wanted water. Then the same Child took out order. I swear she couldn't have been more than 14. While it was cute, it was very surreal. Two booths behind us, an adult boy sat. The child was very courteous but I felt like it was child labor. She...it might have been a boy, but I couldn't tell for the lighting in the place was non existent. I order my friend and I Pho. We also had the Spring Rolls. When the PHO came out, I knew something was wrong. I would have taken pictures of it, BUT I did not have a flash on my camera. It just.....it was not the old restaurant signature. It was bland and when you looked at it...it as just lifeless. I am sorry to say, I was not joyfully satisfied and I was very embarrassed because this was my friends first bout with PHO and I am sure she'll never try it again. This is important when introducing international food to locals. It must be on key!! It must be perfect. I felt it has been warmed up and sitting on the stove, waiting for someone to come in and try. It did not taste like the food that old lady who couldn't run a credit card machine, made. While some may think (in Utah), "Well....that's not fair to judge them on past operations..." I highly disagree. Each customer should experience the same satisfaction. One, a child serving me while an adult sits in a booth is a red flag. The spring rolls were perfect! I must say they were, they were right off the burner..HOT! I swear i could hear the food sizzling through the wrap. unfortunately my PHO could not claim that same victory. We were the only customers and you can't get it perfect? While the customer service was wonderful (a female even came out of the back to ask how things were), It was lacking that past orgasm I got from the old PHO restaurant. It's a tricky business....especially with COVID....one has to be careful and over perfect their food to succeed in bringing customers back. Notice, I talked about the disaster with the credit card when it was World Famous Pho, the complaining manager to customers about the owner....BUT I come back, because that food was so good back then. I took a chance to bring my friend here, raving about the food. We got here, it was a different place, same cuisine in same building...it has to live up to the name....I mean, who takes on the same food in the same building without living up to the last owners taste...? I can't come back, unfortunately. I've made better PHO at home as you can see below. I hope this place gets better and has an eye for perfection like my picky ass. I would have to agree with a the reviewers Craig S and Britnee G. I just was not feeling it this time around. Lets home it was just the year 2020 and next year is better tasted. It is snow season in Utah and my filipino boss who is a big advocate of Asian soups was wondering if Ogden Utah had any soups worth trying on this chilly season. We came across "Thai-pho Kitchen." We were reading reviews and they mentioned that they have delicious broths. Immediately when we walked in we had this feeling of going to sleep. I guess because of the great decor of the restaurant and the sound of a dripping waterfall. We ordered the Briquette Pho. They are great with portioning just enough for what 1 individual should consume. You have the option to add your own quantity of garlic. Giving it that special unique touch. Food: First off, this place has Thai, Vietnamese AND Japanese food, so I was able to get my favorites from each place! Tom Kah soup, Pho and Edamame! It was awesome! The Edamame was fine, they added garlic to it which made it better than just steamed with salt, but still... I'm always looking for a place with SPICY edamame on the menu. Tom Kah soup was awesome, their recipe is a little different than what I have been used to, but it was really good. The Pho however... the broth tasted a little "off", it was kind of sweet and the noodles were a bit soggy. It was still good, just not the best I've had. Finally - the iced coffee was HUGE, it's served in a stein! Awesome. Atmosphere: Very much a mix inside, just like the menu! Very cute, love elephant pictures, which is very Thai-esque. The downside are the benches... wooden with no padding. Ooof! If I was younger it probably wouldn't be a problem, but I'm old, those benches start to hurt at my age, ha! That part kinda sucked, to be honest... Price: It's a tad pricy, but what isn't nowadays? I thought "8$ for an iced coffee!?" But then it came out and I was like "Oh okay." Most meals are $12-16 and appetizers are around $10, so you can easily spend $30 per person. Still, the food was pretty good so there were no complaints. Service: Our server was awesome, I don't remember his name, he was a buff, white surfer-like dude (in SLC?) and he was real nice, he knew the menu up and down along with all the ingredients because one of the people in our group had allergies to certain items and another was vegetarian, so I give him a HUGE high five! I don't remember his name though... sorry! Overall: Food was good and our server was awesome. Prices were a little higher than I'm used to and the benches were uncomfortable, perhaps we should have sat in padded seats? We got their potstickers, edamame, crab Rangoon, larb, calamari, Tom yum, pad Thai, drunken noodles, and basil friend rice. The crab Rangoon was good, I like that they were small bites. The potstickers had good filling and crunch, my cousin kept asking for more. I really liked the fry on the calamari and it was a bunch of large, different pieces of the squid, not like those places that just tempura fry rings of squid. I didn't really like the larb. The meat was just weird, but the rest of my party finished it so maybe it's just not for me. I also didn't really like my Tom yum (a bit sour and the shrimp was rubbery) but my sister liked her Tom Ka. Their star is the PAD THAI! We asked for it spicy and it was SO GOOD. My sister went to Thailand and visited a Michelin star restaurant that only does pad Thai, and she said this places pad Thai reminded her of that!! This place feels very authentic and the staff was really friendly and helpful. They mentioned they're not used to large parties but they accommodated 14 of us quickly and stayed on top of things!! I had the chicken ramen and spring rolls with a Diet Pepsi. The waitress was kind and brought my food when it was ready. Though the the broth bowl didn't come with all the side veggies you can put in them. I went at 430 and this place wasn't busy at all. The TVs were turned off and it was dark. The decor is okay inside, but could definitely use a refresh outside to brighten it up a little and bring attention to the passerby's. The pad thai is one of the best I've had in a while, great flavor and as much spice as you want. The cashew chicken was also very good with a unique flavor that was pretty addicting. The appetizer of cream cheese wontons was extremely tasty, also with a unique flavor, not just plain cream cheese in a wrapper. This is a Pepsi place which is the only downside for me.
