This was my first ever cheesesteak, and I'm glad it was here! The first thing you'll notice if you walk into the restaurant (there's a drive through option) is the amazing smell. It's the kind of delicious smell that lingers on your clothing until you throw it in the washing machine. I ordered the traditional steak with no onions and added garlic spread to it. At first, I thought the price for a regular sized cheesesteak was a little on the pricier side ($8 and some change). However, the surprisingly large size of the regular option paired with the even larger amount of steak they stuff your sandwich with definitely makes it worth it. My cheesesteak was delicious. I loved the bread it came with, the steak was seasoned well, and the garlic spread is definitely a must. I devoured the entire sandwich - which is huge for me, considering my stomach would usually only be able to handle about a fraction of it. My only negatives would be that there wasn't enough cheese, and I really wish there was the option to add bell peppers - specifically green ones. While the sandwich itself was great, it definitely could've used the extra cheese and green bell pepper flavoring. All in all, I'll definitely be back to try their other menu options! read more

Let's start with the positives and the reason it's not a "1 Star" review. Super fast and friendly service. Location is good, atmosphere is good. The amount of steak on the sandwich was fantastic and the horseradish sauce that is on the side was some of the best I've had. Price was good for the amount of food. Now for the things that were not good. Ordered the original with provolone. The bread was hard as a rock. The steak was extremely dry and had zero seasoning on it, it tasted like cardboard. I got mine with onions and this is the first time I've ever eaten a cheesesteak with raw onions. You couldn't even taste the cheese, it needed double the amount or more and should be put on top of the meat to keep all the meat from falling out of the sandwich. Okay, so there are cheese steaks...and then there are DP Cheesesteaks! No comparison. This place takes cheesesteaks to a whole new level! The bread is thick, fresh baked sourdough. No cutting corners here. I ordered the garlic steak cheesesteak with tomatoes, mushrooms, provolone and garlic sauce. They use rib eye and it is an unbelievable flavor. Clean cut and fresh. Very low amount of grease. I don't think there is a better cheesesteak out there or at least I have never had one that compares! They have a soda fountain with regular coke, cherry coke, orange Fanta, Philadelphia birch beer, and a few other choices. Service was quick and friendly. I've been to DP Cheesesteaks twice now & both experiences have been great! The location is clean and bright, the servers kind and quick. I had the Garlic Steak and it was definitely yummy but the garlic got overpowered by the cheese, not a terrible thing but something I noticed. Now this place might not look like much but if you're a connoisseur of Cheesesteaks, you'd know that's to be expected from a decent Philly Cheesesteak joint. This is probably my favorite restaurant in Utah, and I'm a foodie and a half! I've had Philly Cheesesteaks just about everywhere you can order one, including Philadelphia... there isn't a single place that amounts to the Philly Cheesesteak you can get at DP Cheesesteaks. Is there an argument for it's authenticity? Absolutely! Does that matter in the slightest when the flavor is out of this world? Absolutely not! They use a high quality meat (rarely, if ever, do you get any silver skin or ultra fatty/stringy pieces), a doughy/fluffy hogie, tons of cheese (referring to the Cream Cheese Steak and the Whiz Steak), and perfectly sautéed onions, mushrooms, and bell peppers. Every review must include some constructive criticism though... and consistency could be DP's biggest downfall. This doesn't go for all their stores but it is something I've noticed. Stick to the Cream Cheese Steak, the Garlic Steak, the Pepper Steak, and the Whiz Steak and you'll be just fine! read more

They have a variety of sandwiches but i stuck with the steak mushroom and pepper. The meat and vegetables were okay but the bread and selections of sauces + condiments was mediocre. this place is great when the food is done right, i came here and they messed up my order, I won't bore with much more details but not only did they rush my order they were rude. I didn't give them a tip and the employee scoffed under his breath "no tip" to which I interjected "excuse me" which was then followed by a hollow silence. I've heard awesome things about the cheesesteaks here so I decided to give them a try! I ordered a large mushroom pepper steak and I literally got one slice of provolone. It's not a CHEESEsteak if there isn't any cheese. And if you're going to include peppers in your sandwich how about put more than four slices in it??? And on top of it all, of course I ordered it to go so I didn't notice till I was home. Sorely disappointed. But they get two stars cause the meat was good. DP Cheesesteaks in Provo is the fourth local of those locally owned and operated chain. I'm a big fan of DP Cheesesteaks and since I was in the area I stopped by this location for lunch last Tuesday. I ordered my usual, a traditional steak and cheese with provolone and grilled onions. My cheesesteak with served up fast with lots of meat and cheese on a great fresh bun. The sandwich was good but unfortunately the meat seemed just a little dry, like it had been overcooked some. Since this location recently opened I'll give them the benefit of a doubt and pass this off as new cooks still learning the ropes. The friend I was with had never eaten a cheesesteak before and LOVED his sandwich. When you think "Philly" you think Philidelphia obviously. I stayed in Philly for several weeks for work. Every chance I had, I was on the prowl for the perfect Cheesesteak. In Philly they aren't called Philly duh... I made that mistake several times lol. I could never find a truly delicious Cheeseteak to call home about. A very good rendition of the Philly cheesesteak. I've been a fan of the American Fork location since it opened. However, it's awkward to get to for me. I just learned of the opening of the Provo location. It's pretty much a clone of the place. They make a very good cheese wit. As all others mention, it's just not quite the same without the Amoroso roll. Normally, it's the traditional steak, onions and whiz. Today was the first time I've ventured to the other steaks. The one with Jalapenos and pepperoncini is really good. Although I'm not a big Birch beer and Tastykake fan, it's nice to see them here. I keep my eye open for other place doing a good cheesesteak. I've got a several more to hit. So far, this is the best. read more

It is by no means not great... but it surely isn't great... its somewhere in the middle... so not great great... I got the cream cheesesteak which was pretty good... but I dont know it was just lacking messiness. That is what i want in a sandwich a blend of so many flavors and things. SOOO of course lavered on the jalapeno sauce, I was hoping it would be better than moochies... it wasn't. The jalapeno sauce definitely enhance the sandwich experience, but it still was a little bland there was no kick in the flavor department but the cream cheese was definitely a must. THE VERDICT: Is it worth trying if you never have? i would say yes... but the name promises exactly what you think, only cheesesteak. Before coming here, I had only had a cheese steak in Philly. Of course, it didn't quite compare, but it was very good. I got the half Whiz Steak which has onions and Cheese Whiz. It was great, the size was good, the price was right. As I finished up the sandwich, the taste did start to become a little too much. Maybe a little too salty. These are pot cooked (boiled) beef (steak) sandwiches like moochies or grinders13. Plenty of meat is given and the bread is flakey and soft, almost right out of the oven. My only problem is I like my cheese steaks grilled. Is that wrong? Price is fair. I always have to ask for double the cheese, onions and bell peppers. Nine inch sandwich is plenty. But for me, by the time I'm eating the second half I notice the beef is salty, and there really isn't any outstanding flavor or sauce. We always stop by DP Cheesesteaks when we're in Provo. These are the best cheesesteaks we've ever had anywhere. They are never greasy or gristly. The hot cherry pepper sauce is amazing! The only thing I wish is that they would carry fresh brewed iced tea. I know that tea isn't in high demand in Provo, but a few tea bags only cost a few cents. All the drink options are high-sugar and I don't want fake sugar either. My daughter would like them to serve fries, but I don't think it's really necessary. DP's has but two flaws, neither of which is really their fault - their terrific birch beer doesn 't come in diet, and they are too far from the tristate area to get Amoroso rolls. The buns they use are a good substitute tho, and hold up to the pressure (which is vital). For the first time, i tried a cheesesteak with Cheez Whiz. What a revelation. It was actually excellent - not just good, but better than provolone!! (At least, on a cheesesteak - i doubt I'll be substituting Whiz for real cheese on anything else.) The Whiz melts thoroughly and smoothly fills the whole sandwich, while provolone just sits on top. Also that gross Whiz "flavor" accent is gone - not sure whether this is because the Whiz is mixed so well with the other ingredients, or just because it was hot. Anyway it's as good as any cheesesteak I've had outside the tristate. Who would have thunk Provo would step up to the bar ? Also they have chips with Old Bay seasoning. Real chopped ribeye, slathered in cheese whiz, and slopped onto a tasty chewy bread. And that is just the basics. One could swap out the whiz for a lesser cheese. One could get peppers, mushrooms, marinara ... a variety of additions. My lunch was good, and only marred bu the onions that I specified asked to avoid.
