This food truck was fun and in a good location. There was a decent amount of seating. The service was a little slow. The burgers were great though. The Fountain Valley store is really poor. I was there on 5/21/26, & asked for extra chili. There was barely any on the burger. I went back to the counter, & the clerk said it cost extra. I said there isn't a fee for extra chili. She then took my tray & dumped some more chili on top of my burger. In addition, ALL of the tables were dirty. I ended up having to wipe off the table because the staff wouldn't wipe them down after being asked. I also sent a message on their "contact us" on their site on 5/21, but didn't get a response. I always enjoy eating at foodtrucks and eating outside so I liked this place! (Plus there's Karie Anne's right next door so you can get dessert afterwards). The hot dogs are big and taste like Costco polish dogs, although I liked Tommy's buns better. They layered on the saurkraut and it was good with the mustard! My husband said his burger wasn't the best, so if we come back we'll stick with the hot dogs. Service could've been a little faster, but it was one guy working. Tried this place out on a whim. While I was excited about getting a chili burger, what I got unfortunately fell low of expectations. The chili was strangely sweet and wasn't super appetizing. I've been going to Tommy's since the early 1990s, and I've been a fan the whole time. It was only recently that I discovered they're no longer in the iconic building and now in a food truck. I'm a big fan of their chilli dog and the chili cheese fries. Nothing fancy, but SO good! I don't think there's been any evolution of menu or ingredients in the last 35 years, which is a good thing. This place is a good little burger joint to stop at if you're in the mood. Their burger style is a bit different with chili as a staple part of the burger itself which is actually delicious. My hamburger was most likely as disappointing as the "Provo Push". (IYKYK) while in Provo for a convention I was excited to hear about a near by burger joint... I love hamburgers and fries. On a 9 hour drive and stopped here as we're familiar with the Original Tommy's chain, and this place uses the logo, but it's definitely not an a Tommy's. As I mentioned, we have a long drive so we were hungry when we stopped here on a Thursday at about 12:45pm. Day/time is relevant bc it was not a Monday at 11pm when you expect to get the bottom of the pot. The chili was old af - dark and dry like a turd. Against our better judgement- ate! It's perfect for what it is. The sign says it all at the counter... there are not real healthy options only delicious ones. I liked it better than the Tommy's chain in So Cal. I had to take my son on our weekly friday lunch. His name is Tommy so it was a must try. I am a huge fan or Portillo's and I love a legit Chicago Dog. This one only lacked the real sport peppers that belong on it and had pepperoncinis instead. Not the same taste but the rest of it was excellent. The dog was perfect and the legit green relish where great. The bun was a little oversized but I would get it again for sure. I also tried the single Tommy burger. Very good beef. Not too much chili to make a mess while eating it or to turn my stomach inside out. My son had the Chili Cheese Fries ( I had some with a little dose of Ketchup on top) they where very good. He also had the Texas double and loved it. I will be going again for sure. I loved sitting outside. Felt like being in LA or OC. I am now craving it bad doing this review. read more

Loved that they had seasoning available for the fries. My only gripe is that it is a button pricy for a place with only outdoor seating. Been coming here since I was a little kid. My dad would take me whenever we went to a BYU football game. I got the Texas Style Burger(which mean they put bacon on their regular burger). One thing I love about this place is homemade bean less chili they include on all their burgers. I would give this place a 5 star but it does one thing that bugs. First of all, this is NOT the Original Tommys Burgers from California. We drove down from Northern Utah to eat there and the chili is different for one thing. Not at all like the Original Tommys Burgers chili. They have copied the look and style of the real tommys with the shack with the red roof (personally I don't know how they get away with it) and even the logo is copied to look like the original. But it's not. I am not saying the food wasn't good. It was fine. But, I have been going to the Original Tommys for over 40 years and I can tell an imposter when I taste it. read more

This Small cozy shack of an establishment is one I have been wanting to breach for awhile now. I, along with the other recognizably regulars, am one for a burger grilled on a sweaty piece of metal. A grill that has had thousands upon thousands of pattys laid on. A grill that I imagine Ron Swanson himself would sleep on. I ordered the #1 combo. Just a simple burger with a side of fries. And let me tell you that it indeed was simple, no surprises, no mistakes, no math problems hidden between the lettuce and the tomato and no tricks way up the buns sleeves. This was a burger. The flavor creeped into my insides like a serpent on a scavenger hunt. A flavor that lasted and made you savor the bites you beckoned on. The french fries, still hot to the touch, had a thick atmosphere and crispy wavelength. Something I suppose Dave Thomas would ruin his pants over. The only thing stopping this perfect dream from lasting was the lack of fry sauce. I could not find it, not on the burger, not on the counter, no not anywhere... To me fries lose their kick after 4 or 5 dunks in ketchup. Fry Sauce is the golden ticket for me and true followers of burger factories. Tommy must love chili, because it is on about half of the things on the menu. Tommy must have the worst gas. Because I just ate here once and... well you know... to to. Kind of felt a little betrayed by some of these reviews. I think we all need to relearn our adjectives and go easy on the superlatives. This place is good. Very expensive. There is a lot of chili flavor that kind of dominates all of the dishes. The burgers were the best part of my experience (two burgers, one hot dog, fries). Compared to other burgers you are over paying. The Texas style is nice because it adds a little sweetness to the very sodium filled chili. So i enjoyed that the most. (oh and im a sucker for bacon... just ask my girlfriend... made of bacon). The regular burger was good, but there were no off setting to the power of the chili the mustard and ketchup just added to it. So texas style it... uness you love sodium... and kidney stones. The dog... not great quality. Its no delicious beef dog, it is a high quality hot dog compared to like the store bought variety. Thankfully there was chili to distract from that kind of boiled taste... i don't know how the cook them but mine had that watery taste... until the chili did a kato kaelin. Now lastly... this is what the majority of reviews got wrong... the french fries. Don't get them unless you cover them in chili and cheese. I don't think they're fresh potatoes. Lightly fried, not seasons. It tastes like starch. Not for me. THE VERDICT: I am now noticing a majority of the 4 and five star reviews are by people who don't review much. So maybe I have myself to blame for going here. But in reality it is a nice place to try once. Just dont get as much as me... save your money. Get a burger texas style and that should basically give you a much better experience than my super awesome best experience ever... lets learn to use our adjectives better. Besides burgers they also have hot dogs and chicken sandwiches. Some negatives: the building is small and old. Most people eat outside on the various picnic tables. There are a few stools inside. I have been fan of Tommy's double chili-cheeseburgers and chili cheese fries since 1995, after moving back to Provo. I wish they had an additional location close to where I live (By Deseret Industries), so that I could eat there much more frequently! The only downside is the waiting time to pick up the food... but the food is delicious and well worth the wait! The service is also friendly, and you get the burgers exactly how you want them...everything on it... or leaving out the onions... which is what I prefer. read more

I can't count the number of times I've driven by this shack until my curiosity got a hold of me and we stopped one night last month. There seems to always be customers in line and sitting outside so it just had to be good we thought. The service is good and was relatively quick. We sat outside since there are only a couple bar stools inside and it smells a little smokey since the cooker is inside. I love the idea of a good burger shack and I really want to like Tommy's Burgers. But the burgers weren't that good. The meat patties were fine, the fries were average, but the buns were simple cheap buns and the chili just tasted strange on the burger and we were both a little sick later that night (disclosure: we don't eat fast food more than a few times a year so maybe we just don't have the stomachs for this type of greasy food). With so many food options just a block away on Center St., I'm not sure I would come back now that I've satisfied my curiosity.
