Cold food - good service - clean place - they remade it hot but the vibe was hard to get back the appetite

Stopped in for a few tacos at this new taco shop. The restaurant looks very nice and the staff is very friendly and hospitable. I ordered the squawk chicken taco and flame beef taco. They were just about to close so I ordered them to go. The food was ready quickly and even though I live 5 minutes away by the time I got home the food was barely warm and very soggy. The tacos did not look very good but were actually pretty tasty. The green sauce in the side was good. I found the tacos to be soggy with a mushy texture. Finished each taco in about 4 bites and I wished there was a bit more filling. $11 for two tacos that ate more like a snack than lunch. I will probably come back to try some breakfast tacos but 1st impression didn't knock my socks off. read more

Stopped by for a quick breakfast and 100% would stop by again and again. Ordered the Scrambled Eggs on Your Face and Texas Hold'em tacos and a passionfruit aguas frescas. The queso in the taco took something so simple to a whole new level, eggs were super fluffy, the flavor in the barbacoa brisket was 11/10, each of their salsas were great, and the freshly made tortillas really sealed the deal. I'm usually not a fan of breakfast tacos but I'd eat these every week if I could. Only downside about this restaurant is that it's in St. Augustine and I live in Tampa. Next time I find myself in the area, I'll definitely stop back in to try the rest of the menu. read more

We stopped in for a few minutes to get some drinks and a snack. What a welcoming place! The staff were super kind and generous and took pride in the fact that everything was made from scratch. The kids loved the queso and my cappuccino was great. We can't wait for a location to open up in Jacksonville later this year. read more

As soon as we stepped in the door, we were greeted and helped. Extremely friendly staff members walked us through the menu and explained gluten free options. Our toddler and baby were treated with kindness and immediately offered coloring sheets and crayons. We did not wait long at all for our food to be freshly cooked and brought to our table. The tacos were amazing! The Gf option was a corn shell and it was delicious. The restaurant was very clean and well kept. This taco shop is super cute! Every single staff member greeted me with a smile and was extremely kind. Everything in my meal tasted fresh and delicious. The menu has a variety of tasty options, I particularly enjoyed their new rice bowl. Amanda, the manager, really goes above and beyond with service. You can tell she takes pride in what she does. Miranda prepared my food and handed it to me personally with an incredibly upbeat attitude. It's obvious that the staff love working there and together. I also enjoy the atmosphere. So much different flavor it's really good the tacos have the greatest combination of things inside, The one with poblano pepper is so good I've tried almost all of them. I love a good counter-service restaurant with freshly made food. We decided to order a variety and share to try different dishes, and honestly, everything was great. We got the Squawk on the Street, Fire from Ice, and We Happy Few for our tacos. For sides, we had the queso and chips along with the Tumbleweed Tots with cream cheese. Fire from Ice and the queso was our favorite, but it was all very good with quality ingredients. I also really appreciate that their entire menu is available from open to close, so if you're craving breakfast items during lunch hours, you're in luck. The staff was super friendly too. We were met at the door with the best greeting. She welcomed us immediately but not in an overbearing way. She helped us understand the concept and the menu and she was able to answer all of our questions. They have only been there for 6 weeks when I asked and I expect them to be there many more. My wife and I ended up getting the Scrambled Eggs On Your Face and the M.T.D. breakfast tacos. The combination of the fresh tortilla, perfectly crunchy potatoes, and queso on the Eggs On Your Face was so good. The M.T.D. was equally as good. My wife ended up getting an M.T.D. to go for later. If you dine in, it's super clean and has a great modern vibe. They have a "Vestaboard" on the main wall which is a modern take on old school flip board. Changes with random facts, questions, and they even customized the message to welcome my Wife and I. Super kind staff and felt like we had been there many times, not our first. I don't often do reviews but I need to talk a bit about Calico Cactus. I'll admit, I'm very judgy when it comes to Mexican restaurants. My whole life I grew up eating Mexican food, lived on the Texas border and yes I'm part Mexican. There's a few things I take into consideration when proclaiming these so-called Mexican restaurants credible and they are by their tortillas and aguas frescas. Call me a taco snob, idc. Calico Cactus makes their flour tortillas in-house, you guys and they are de-li-cious. I had their Texas Hold'em barbacoa taco and their chorizo and egg Area 51 taco with a Lavender Latte and OMG they were amazing. Took a to-go order of another barbacoa taco (yes, I love barbacoa) w/ poblano peppers to wash down with their Watermelon agua fresca!! You, Calico Cactus, have made me a regular customer out of me. Btw, my husband and his colleagues had just been there earlier and sent me a text of approval. He loved their passion fruit agua fresca. We have a new go-to restaurant. I want to end this by adding how friendly their staff was. I was greeted by a very sweet lady whose name I didn't get. Sorry. Then I was approached by Amanda to check on my satisfaction. This establishment will have very satisfied employees. Thank you for chatting with me before heading to my doctors.
