We arrived on a Monday afternoon around roughly 430-5 o'clock in the evening, and there was only one other group sitting in there. we sat down at the bar and we were immediately greeted by Morgan. Morgan was such a delight to talk to and overall exceptional guest service. We really enjoyed chatting with him while we were enjoying our beer I had the coconut porter once again, and it was delicious. Love that it is one of their core beers and for a Porter beer it is very light. My husband opted for their Collab that they currently have. It was very tasty. read more

I loved this place and the server was super nice and super friendly. Thank you! We walked in as I always try to hit up every brewery and try their beers when I am visiting any city. It has a nice open layout and the beer I had was one of my all-time favorites. The Castillo Coconut Porter (WOW) My girlfriend isn't a brewery girl as of yet but she is getting there slowly with sours and seltzers. She wanted a sour but they didn't have any on tap that day. Had a nice stop at Ancient City Brewing's downtown taproom. The location is right in the heart of downtown St Augustine making it easy to pop in for a beer before dinner. Bartender was friendly and quick and a pleasure to be around. Love that the Jaguar theming is still up from their 1st and Gold release, the official Jags beer for the 30th season. Also really liked their collaboration with First Magnitude for their Helles Bock. There is a smaller selection of beers than their brewery but still some interesting choices. Only negatives were that beers were a dollar or two more than I would have expected and they didn't have a large selection of six packs to go. Also the bathrooms were out of order. Still if you are in the area and want a nice local beer I recommend. read more

Hubby and I decided to spend the day in St. Augustine and wanted to check out some of the local breweries/bars. Our first stop was Ancient City Brewing Taproom. We've walked by at least a dozen times and I don't know why it took us this long to try them out. The ambiance is very chill. We walked in, ordered a couple brews, then hung out and chatted by the front window. I loved the Castillo Coconut Porter and the Galleon's Golden Ale. Hubby really liked the Matanzas River Red Ale and the Augustine's Orange Amber. They didn't have a huge menu but they had a good variety of beer styles. There's really something for everyone. For sure worth checking out Ancient City Brewing Taphouse while in St. Augustine! read more

I love love love Breweries and their affiliated Tap Rooms. But.... When you enter an establishment and it smells like poo it makes one skeptical. We pushed our self forward order beer and made comments about the smell. We got our beers and no acknowledgment of the poo smell. We nestled ourselves near the door and the smell wained. Until we had to pee then we forced our way through the pungent odor to take care of our business. While sitting close to the door away from the odor we saw more than 8 people open the door walk in and leave. While the bar was full of the bartenders friends how can she not know that her bar and establishment smells like poo. Check your video no one came in no one left just her friends.. (Well, they WERE playing against local Jacksonville, after all.) This historical-looking little spot is pretty much what a craft brewery should be. Small, open, sporting lots of local character, and dog-friendly. The beer was delish, too - I started with a Matanzas red ale and finished with a coconut porter. Both were rich, complex, and delish. My birthday surprise weekend took us to St. Augustine and though Ben was trying to make it all about just me but I "twisted his arm" into going to a brewery! The brewery is small and quaint and of course in an old building in St. Augustine's main tourist area. Most of the seats were taken with a good mix of locals and tourist alike. We did not try any food, so can't speak to that; however being craft beer enthusiasts, we feel obligated to speak about the beer. We travel all over the country to try beer and I was so excited to go back to my hometown and try some of theirs after being spoiled in Southern California by terrific beer. Sufficed to say, the beer was disappointing. From the aroma, to the carbonation, to the flavor profiles. We tried different types and gave it the old college try, but did not find one that was redeeming, unfortunately! People have degrees in brewing now and maybe looking into a brewing consultant or an intern could help. I want so badly for this brewery to represent St. Augustine better! I visited the downtown taproom while on vacation. I loved the St. Augustine themed beer names like Anastasia Island IPA and Mantanzas River Red. This was our first time at the brewery but I had the beer before in cans. It was walking distance from the St George St area. We got a 10 beer flight but shared it. My favorite was the castillo coconut porter and the strawberry fields copper ale beer. It was the largest beer flight I've ever had. OMG! Wooooooo. You should get a prize or something for finishing this beer flight. It was an accomplishment. Note: We walked back to the B&B that was 10 minutes away. We were not driving that night. This flight is no joke and would make anyone need an Uber. read more

Every time we go downtown we start our afternoon/evening with a stop at the ACB Taproom. Not only do they have all of ACB's beers of the season on tap but they also offer ciders and soft drinks as well. Well behaved children are welcome with their parents. Hungry and want a beer? This place has been on my St. Augustine list for a while. We visited the brewery a while back but not the taproom, which is weird because we have been in the area three times since! We came on a Saturday night after ordering food to go next door. They told us they would bring the food over because they have that agreement with the taproom. We step up to the bar and view the tap list. I decided to go with the coconut porter (which I believe I had when we went to the brewery). Hubby ordered the red ale I believe. The porter has a lot of flavor but is heavy and strong. I must have been thirsty because it went down smooth and quickly. We only stayed for one round because we arrived close to closing. We ordered our beers and sat on the only sofa they had. It was very comfortable while we were eating and drinking. The bartender didn't ask for a card or payment up front so we went to the bar when we finished to pay. The bartender was super cool. She was very personable and friendly. I really have not encountered bartenders like that in this city so it was refreshing. She admired my steampunk necklace and she referred me to a local store that supplied those kind of items. It was also nice because she was having a conversation instead of pushing everyone out at closing time. The place is larger than it looks from the outside and can comfortably seat about 40-50 people. There was good music playing while we sat there and it was not too loud from that or people. These beers are also served during social hour where we stay so we have had their beers plenty of times. Unfortunately, hubby has not felt well after drinking these beers the last couple of times we visited so we may slow down on their beers and have more variety. But we definitely will be back. read more

An outpost of the actual brewery which is located to the NW off of I95 and Route 16, this is a cute little beer bar. They had 6 beers on tap, with only one IPA. They would do a lot better with more of a selection and something besides their flagship IPA, which is a more of a classic English IPA. Service was great and friendly, and the atmosphere is quite nice, so if you are into one of the 6 beers that they have, it would be perfect. read more

How have I never seen ACB before?! I'm so glad we found this place today! I had a flight and my husband got a blood orange cider. My flight included the golden ale, Chevy Camaro IPA, Black cherry ale, and the New England IPA. I loved them all but the golden ale was extra fantastic, as was the New England IPA. I also tasted the chocolate stout which was delicious! The notes of chocolate were subtle but very yummy! The bartender Ryan was helpful and recommended very tasty beers for my liking. Yikes... I've been to over 40 breweries in the past and I have NEVER experienced such poor customer service in my life. I just wanted a flight but the beertender rudely said he wouldn't pour us 4-5 of the beers on tap for the flight because he wasn't going to "waste" it on a tiny pour. He claimed it was too carbonated and it would go to waste. Confused but okay with it- We went ahead and ordered two full pints of what we thought were the top two options. I've never ordered a beer and literally left it behind. I sampled it but the full pour just was inadequate to what it should have been. The part that ticked me off the most was that after I was trying to drink this very mediocre beer- I literally saw the guy pouring the Porter and continuously throwing out a third of the beer and then refilling it and then dunking out another third. There was barely any foam in the amount he was throwing out. I just kept watching him in disbelief. If my flight was to be a "waste" of beer then he should redefine what wasteful is. The guy had the stinkiest attitude and it was so unbearable, it gave me the sourest taste in my mouth. No thanks! read more

Always a sucker for any local breweries tasting room, we stumbled upon this local watering hole while on one of the popular ghost tours that parade through the town. I was quite pleased with the selection of quality craft beers that were available, especially in the darker variety. I had the Pecan Brown Ale for my first round and then opted for the Castillo Coconut Porter for my nightcap.
