I went here on my lunch break to get a gluten-free grilled cheese, and I walk in and nobody's in line, nobody's ordering, and everyone in there was already eating, and I ordered my food and sat there for 45 minutes and people started coming in after me and were getting their food and drinks, so I finally went up to the gates to the kitchen and asked the worker if need to go order was ready and she very condescendingly said she was working on it now and shut the gates in my face. There was a sign on the gate that said "employees only". If you have a question, ask the barista. so I felt in that moment That was very rude. five minutes later she sets my to go bag on the counter and walks away before I could even say anything. When I opened the bag in my car, the small grilled cheese was not melted. The cheese was pretty much cold, and the carrots were thrown in the bag. I can't believe I spent $17 on this. The service was terrible besides the barista. She was the only decent human in there. I literally had to throw away the food. read more

I really liked Juniper Market. Little bit of everything here. Food, beer, coffee.....all contained in a really cute space. It's off the beaten tourist path in St Augustine, which I really like. We always use street parking away from the garage and we passed Juniper Market on the way in. Grabbed a quick beer. Service was good. We paid at the counter and found a seat. A very nice quaint place to go for breakfast. We found this place while spending a few days in St. Augustine. They have a small but good selection of wine in the front, a few local gifts in the back, and nice breakfast/lunch selections in between. We each ordered dark coffee which was rich, fresh, and hot! Served in a warmed up mug which was a nice touch. We also ordered the breakfast sandwich which had over-easy egg (at the employee's suggestion, you can have the egg prepared another way), bacon and cheese on a biscuit. The menu only indicated bagel or croissant but the employee suggested the biscuit option. I'm not really into biscuits as I can take them or leave them. This one was good! Light, flakey, delicious. The sandwich was a hot mess with the over-easy egg but I would get it again just as it was served. Very good experience. Super friendly staff. read more

Juniper was right next to the hotel I was staying at during a recent visit and so we decided to stop in for breakfast one morning. The place is super cute and the staff was nice. Our food came out pretty quickly and we were originally going to take it to go but decided to eat it there. Their sandwiches were delicious! The biscuits had amazing flavor. Finally came in, I was so excited to try it. After ordering I wasn't fully convinced the pictures on the website were pretty, and the portions decent. Now the reality of the food was small and prices were expensive. The breakfast sandwhich was $9 and it was super small. My turkey special was a fail; the croissant shrunk the cheese square could wrap around it at least 2 x then my bean soup I was thinking it would be creamy tomato soup with black beans, but instead it tasted like canned beans dumped to boil and corner chunks of tomato thrown in it, and nothing else. Not worth $13. My total was $46 for 4 items !! That were not even gourmet.... how did this happen??? 1) mini breakfast sandwhich 2) turkey special 3) small hot chocolate 4) canned Róse Way too expensive! & service was ok the staff ringing us up were just blah not friendly, not too helpful. Inside is nice and spacious well lit and they had 2 highchairs available. One which was filthy, luckily I had my wipes with me.... In a nutshell I tried it wasn't impressed, prices seemed high for quantity of food. I can guarantee I will not be back. read more

Juniper. So close yet so far. Pros: fun menu items that do taste good. I love the Vietnamese coffee. It's nicely decorated as well. Fairly clean on the outside. Cons: the employees never seem to be experiencing the emotion joy. Not rude to me but they just lack a lust for life or maybe the job. I'm worried for them. I wonder if they like their job. Locally owned and operated- yes please! Plus all the food is phenomenal- oh absolutely! I have been working around the corner from this sweet spot and I needed a lunch break! Herrick recommended Juniper Market and I was off! The bright open market greeted me and I love the mural on the wall! I ordered the turkey club croissant and WOW! It was everything I needed in a croissant! I also went with the blueberry ginger lemonade and an espresso chocolate cookie! Every bite was perfection! I will be back in St Augustine later this month and I know I will be back! And probably in the morning too! I missed out on a lot of their baked goods, already sold out by lunch time! COMPLETE TIME WASTER. (The book, not the café--don't come for me.) The café? Absolutely top-tier deliciousness! Great options, amazing service ((seriously, THANK YOU AGAIN, you legends)), and freakishly fast. Plus, everything's locally sourced, so you can feel smug while you munch. My husband--who takes banana bread very seriously--said their version was the closest thing to his grandmother's recipe. This is a big deal because the man practically worships BB. I had the power salad and a turmeric latte with oat milk, and let me tell you, it hit harder than a toddler with a drum set. Pro tip: ask for a side of Cowgill's hot sauce. It's so good, I'm sneaking a bottle onto our cruise like a spicy little stowaway. If room service questions it, I'll just have them try it ;) Also, once you're sufficiently stuffed, take a short stroll to the Shrine of Our Lady La Leche, just two blocks away. I had the quiche. It was light and fluffy with most of the flavor coming from the goat cheese. Absolutely divine. I also ordered the Americano (2shots espresso) to wake me up. The quiche is alway as great despite there being one type on the menu It is very creamy inside and fluffy due to cream. Anyone would be happy with this quiche slice. My guest whom I brought loved it. I always get the chai tea hot and it is sooooo delish! It is a very large serving of tea. The foam is perfect. Th milk options are milk, oat milk and chocolate almond. The side salad that comes with it is baby greens with vinaigrette I love coming here as the food comes fast and the tea is always perfect. This is a very popular place for visitors and I am a local and love it. My other friend got the chicken salad with artisan bread. Very crusty and hard to eat the crust she said but the inside had so may air holes she thought it was delish. Do not get extra Mayo not needed. read more

I just had the strangest experience this morning at the Juniper Market. In fact, so strange, it encouraged me to write my first review ever. Unfortunately, the barista must've been having a bad morning. As I was sitting at the bar reading the menu, she turned around and accuse me of glaring at her, which I wasn't. In fact, I was just admiring what she was doing while reviewing the menu. Furthermore, she never even said good morning. And then, as I was explaining to her that good morning would've been a nice way to start a conversation and that I hope she has a better day, a guy came out from the kitchen area and told me I didn't need to treat them that way. Super strange experience! Unfortunately never even got to order. I actually went in to support them as a local after the unfortunate situation father Matt had a few weeks ago. I'm happy to speak with the owner for constructive criticism and/or further explanation of the experience, but as of now, I would never go back nor would I recommend the place. And that's unfortunate because we love the mom and pops. I wish you guys the best, but that barista needs to have some sort of a coaching experience or something because that was just ridiculous at the very least! read more

Cute cafe with nice indoor and outdoor seating. It was fairly busy for a Friday morning. Staff was extremely nice and helpful. They recommended the egg and cheese bagel with avocado and it was great. The iced chai was watered down and didn't have much flavor at all, and they didn't have any pumpkin syrup yet either :( However, the decor & whole vibe is super cute! My mom and I were in St Augustine just enjoying a Saturday girls day out today. We were both starving so I opened my trusty Yelp app and Juniper came up when I typed into sandwiches and salads. The menu looked fabulous so we knew we must try it! We parked on the street walked up and immediately I could see we would love it! They had a fountain outside along with tables and umbrellas. We walked up the steps and the inside is gorgeous, bright, white, clean, chic and welcoming! They have a wall full of wines to purchase, incense, soaps, hats! They also have a photographer/artist Jenna Alexander who resides within the building. Her art work can be seen from the large glass windows and hung around the establishment. The menu sports soups, salads, sandwiches, wine, coffee and tea. All of the sandwiches are served with chips or carrots and hummus. We ordered the chicken salad sandwich and the pimento with bacon grilled cheese, both were incredibly delicious! We also got a glass of wine and the mint tea, yummy as could be! The table options are all great! The seating areas include some by the window, bar stools overlooking San Marco Ave for people watching, outdoor seating in the front and back (so pet friendly). I honestly can't say enough great things about this place! I loved it up one side and down the other! Can't wait to go back!! read more

We were looking for a local small business breakfast place, and Juniper Market didn't disappoint in that area. It's a small place with about 7 tables inside and four 2-toppers out front. I really wanted to give it a 5 star rating, but several things did not go well. As you walk in you order your food at the counter. The girl at the counter seemed frazzled, and offered a less than pleasant greeting. Ok, breakfast crowd was jumping. But jeez, a smile goes a long way. I ordered the breakfast sandwich with the cheddar scallion biscuit and a lavender macchiato. My daughter ordered the breakfast burrito and a Vietnamese iced coffee. My sandwich was delicious, but for $8.50??? It was no bigger than my hand and didn't even come with a small bowl of fruit. My $4.25 macchiato was served in an espresso cup! And it was sour. My daughter's breakfast burrito was as big as her tiny hand and when she was 3/4 through it she found a light brown short hair in it! (She has medium length black hair). They refunded us our money for the burrito and made another one (hence 3, not 2 stars), and offered an insincere apology. I could forgive a lot of that, but not the unfriendly service. Kindness goes a long way, and they were in short supply there. Good breakfast sandwich, though. read more

Amazing food and hands down the best coffee in all of St. Augustine. They have outdoor seating and plenty of indoor seating. They have a variety of food options available including different kinds of toasts, and breakfast sandwiches and wraps. I love the fact that they give you a coffee mug that is bigger than a single fist and filling it to the top is like two full size regular coffees. This means you get to enjoy more time talking with family and friends versus having to get up to get more coffee. The customer service is outstanding, and they really make their food with quality and love. We will be back when we come back to St. Augustine, FL for vacation. Restaurant patrons are also very kind and easy to talk to. Don't be surprised if a stranger strikes up a conversation with you about anything. Looking for ultra-casual beautiful outdoor seating? Go here. It's right on San Marco in a big old house. Light, clean, and refreshing atmosphere inside and out. I'm not sure how more people don't know about this place. The food offerings are simple and delicious. I usually opt for the breakfast burrito or egg sandwich on cheddar biscuit. I don't eat pork but my friend got the grits bowl with eggs and bacon and she was raving over it. I always get the Magic Coffee, an iced spiced treat. Coffee ice cubes delight me! I will have to take good photos next time. I was ravenous. The staff is a joy. Sweet, friendly, accommodating. I always love seeing Cindy when I come in. They sell products made by locals, like Bee Hill Farms and Small Batch Naturals. There are a few parking spots behind the building and that lot has never been full when I've come. read more
