Love making a visit here each time I'm in St. Augustine! This location has plenty of parking, is extremely spacious inside and clean. I appreciate that there are ample seating and tables both inside and out as I can imagine at peak times it gets busy! The staff is incredibly kind and very quick when getting orders out. I have yet to use the online ordering but I'm sure that would be helpful if you need to place an order quickly for pickup. I always order the green goddess and it's extremely refreshing since it has coconut & jasmine syrup, with green tea and your milk of choice! It's perfect in our year round heat . Everytime I come here I'm amazed at how friendly, clean and quick my visits are! I usually get here relatively close to opening and it's pretty empty. Today there was a few people but it was my turn before I knew it. I ordered my iced Kookaburra and a green goddess and the order was given to me on less than 5 minutes, it was that quick! The staff is always friendly and they have given me their insights on what they do and don't like so I like they're not pushing drinks just to sell them. The Kookaburra coffee is one of the greatest things I've drank. The coffee is perfectly brewed and everything flavor wise blends well together! I've had their Aussie pies for breakfast before and they are cooked nicely as well. The egg is always cooked great and the seasonings they use are wonderful! The prices here a little bit more than a regular coffee shop but it's understandable because it's a nice little café with artisinal coffees, teas and bites. They also sell wine here but I've never had it so I got to try it in the future. They have multiple locations but this one is my favorite! I would give this negative stars if I could. Waited over 30 minutes for two coffee & needed to leave. Went to ask for a refund & they gave me an excuse of they were busy & my drink would be out soon...10 minutes later. They were not busy, the workers were working without urgency & very inefficient if they were as busy as they thought. Don't tip them until after you receive your stuff, because why am I tipping for them to do a bad job. DO NOT RECOMMEND if you want your order in less than 30 minutes. read more

Great spot to get you coffee fill. Lattes were perfectly made.. not too sweet.. good balance on the flavors. Staff was excellent.. very friendly and everything came out quickly. Food was good as well. Scone was delicious as was the breakfast pie. The shop itself seems to be set up so you can choose to work remotely if you'd like, or if you just want to enjoy a coffee with friends it's a nice place to do that too. Will be back! read more

Stopped by The Kookaburra for some drinks on our way to the beach and it was a great stop! I got the green goddess and the mocha nut iced. I also picked up an Aussie meat pie. The store had a great vibe and the staff was wonderful. Our drinks were made quickly and tasted great! I especially loved the green goddess with its flavors of jasmine and coconut. I ate my meat pie on the beach and it was the bomb! The pastry was rich and the meat filling was tomato-y and hearty. So delicious! Chic urban vibe with the fabulous coffee you're hoping for. The honey badger coffee, iced or hot, is highly recommended. It's smooth coffee with a yummy special foam that hits the sweet spot. The scones are the size of Australia! Ok, not quite that big but easily enough for two or even three. And the caramel cake is divine. The Aussie pies have too thick a crust for my liking, but the crustless veggie (with spinach) and sausage pie was just right, like a tasty frittata. The Kookaburra wasn't around for all of the years I lived in St. Augustine and Jacksonville. As an Australian immigrant with a deep love of good coffee, it seems almost tailor-made for me. But alas, our times did not align. In addition to serving great coffee, The Kookaburra is just about the only place in all of Northeast Florida where you can get Aussie meat pies. For a country that's obsessed with pastries, I find it odd that meat pies haven't caught on in the US. Then again, folks here prefer the sweeter variety, not savory pies like these. The standard meat pie tastes great and, more importantly, authentic. It's a flavor that conjures up nostalgia. But even without that connection, you might like these savory treats as well. I can only assume the locals have developed a taste for them as they continue to serve them. Not something you'd want to indulge in every day but I know I'll be back for one whenever I'm next in St. Augustine. read more

Y'all know how much I adore local coffee roasters and shops, so being in love with the Kookaburra shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. Obviously, I don't make it down to St. Aug. as much as I'd like to. When I do, a pit stop at the Kookaburra is mandatory! The baristas are all so damn friendly they should be given an award. You would think friendly faces and coffee shops go hand in hand, but it's not always the case. The customer service here goes above and beyond. My recommendation for this Kook location is taking a seat at the bar. That way you can interact with the baristas and get a scope of what they go through on the reg. Oh, and watching them concoct world class coffee beverages is pretty cool, too. Wifi hoarders (#guilty) might take up an entire table, so try not to be that guy if you're going to shack up for a few hours. Opt to sit at the community table or the bar. I haven't yet been to a bad Kookaburra but we all go here a lot and wanted to share how consistently awesome their food, coffee, and service is. Their lattes are superb, but what really shines is the coffee they use. I've bought bags to grind at home. It is super smooth with a slight acidic undertone that is surprisingly refreshing. The food is unique and delicious. From their vegan pumpkin donuts to the aussie pies, I've never been disappointed. If you haven't tried an aussie pie, go for it. There one ones for breakfast and ones for lunch. I prefer the lunch ones myself, but all the ones I've tried were decent. And you MUST get the homemade datil sauce to go with! This particular shop is always busy when I stop by, but the line goes quickly and the coffees are prepared at a fast clip. The baristas are super nice. Cute coffee shop in St. Augustine. This location is in a strip mall, so the outside is not super exciting but it's very cute inside! They offer a great variety of beverages, many with a little twist! I opted for the Aussie Iced, which was smooth and nicely flavored. I also ordered the True Blue Aussie Pie, which was filled with eggs and rosemary seasoning. It was great! I believe the Aussie Pies are the only hot items on their menu, but they did have a wide variety and they were something pretty unique. They also had some pastries available. I found the staff to be very friendly, conversational and helpful. The seating area was pretty full but comfortable as well. If there was a kookaburra & a Starbucks beside each other and I had to choose one- kooks would be my choice every time. The coffee is spectacular, grab a honey badger latte if ya don't believe me- promise it'll change your life. The baristas are friendly and professional and remember your order. The location is great for studying and they are open for the early birds as well as the night owls. The prices are comparable to if not cheaper than Starbucks AND they have great food. Try an Aussie pie for breakfast (or any other meal) because they are truly great. This is a laid back coffee shop with good service and great coffee. I am madly in love with this place. Driving through the town in a recent visit, I was looking for a local Starbuck's type coffee shop. I found this place thanks to passing one its other locations on the highway and was curious. So on my way out of town, I found this location and stopped. The place is very plain but the food and drink more than makes up for it. I decided to try one of their savory pies along with an iced coffee and dessert. The pie was tasty and filling for its size and the coffee was good. Even the dessert I had was tasty. I adore this place. I love coffee so that's a big plus. Still it's more than that. Allow me to explain. Travel is a big part of my life and all too often the kind baristas of Starbucks have to rescue my sagging energy levels. It's easy, dependable and simple to find. Still the best coffee experiences for me are always the independents and I have my favorites across the country. Naming them is easy, almost like there's a top 10 list in my mind at all times. One of those experiences for me is The Kookaburra in my hometown. They have terrific ambiance, a great menu and a staff that always is willing to cater to my needs. I like latte drinks although mocha sometimes creeps in and nothing beats a good straight-ahead coffee. The Kookaburra can do all of that from the sweet Honey Badger and Mocha Nut to a simple, strong brew. Their tea selection is nice as well and if your lucky enough to grab one before they run out, Aussie pies can help fill your tummy too. Every coffee shop can generally make a decent cup but few really make relaxing as easy as The Kookaburra--especially this location. Wow, I've been sleeping on Kookaburra's coffee and now I'm addicted. Since I've discovered their Mocha Nut Latte, I've been in love! It's a great blend of mocha with a hint of coconut, and my favorite latte so far. The store has lots of places to sit, but if you're left with the tables or bar area, you won't have an outlet for your computer. Outlets are the first thing I look for at every coffee shop I visit and is such a huge necessity for me, so just be cognizant where you choose to sit.
