We popped into Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii after I realized I had forgotten coffee filters for our condo. Instead of buying filters, I ended up finding my morning coffee spot for the week! I ordered the Three Waves Latte, and it was bold, smooth, and absolutely delicious. I also tried one of their breakfast sandwiches with BBQ sauce and pineapple (I can't remember the name), and it was fantastic. I never would have thought to put those flavors together on a breakfast sandwich, but now I might have to start. My kids both had the egg and cheese sandwiches and enjoyed them as well. The rolls were soft with just the right amount of sweetness. Before we left, I picked up coffee pods and decided to forget the filters altogether. I found my morning brew. I'd definitely recommend stopping in, and it'll be one of our first stops the next time we're in town. read more

Great coffee with genuinely friendly service. Got the Three Waves hot and it's wonderful. Smooth and lightly creamy without being heavy and that rich Kona flavor. I have celiac and while they don't have things "exclusively" gf they were wonderful and making suggestions on what I could have and that could make their menu items without the bread. I opted for the egg bites with cheese and bacon. They were cheesy with great Smokey bacon. I'll definitely be back here when I'm out this way again! read more

The coffee shop is so cute, perfect for a beach town, and reminded me of the coffee shops in Hawaii. They kept the theme going even with their sign indicating the To Go Orders: "Go Forth & Be Badass". Also, the coffee is fantastic. They give you so many options to customize, including a DIY latte, and they also have different mixtures of coffee flavors (for those they are having a hard time choosing), ie the Hazelnut Hula (caramel, dark chocolate, and hazelnut). My iced vanilla latte was perfectly smooth and flavorful. The service was super fast and friendly. They have an interior with seating and things to buy as well. But I used the walk up window. Both options are great. This is a solid option for coffee especially if you're in a hurry. Parking is limited and you can only go through one way. Stopped in finally and was so glad I did. I ordered the three waves latte it was coconut and macadamia so good and not sweet! Hard to come by. I dashed it with cinnamon. It was a perfect final touch. The lemonade was able to get jazzed up with the blue color minus the energy as it was for a kiddo. We also got a turtle kick it was great as well total for 3 drinks and a coffee cake was $19 not bad pretty standard. Great spot, good service, spacious and comfy seating. read more

We have several coffee shops on our little island (Anastasia), & altho I am not fond of chains this one has the true vibe of Aloha Spirit. Very cute decor & merch, cozy inside seating and outside walkup window. The BEST feature that far outshines all our other coffee cafés is the shady large outside deck, away from street noise and perfect for the kiddos to play. My barrista was new and unforunately put too much milk in my 100% Kona coffee -- even though I asked for a TINY BIT of milk, so I can't comment on the coffee as I couldn't really taste it. More importantly she offered to make me another cup which is true ALOHA Spirit. It was late in the day so I'll return & BUY another cup straight up to evaluate the Kona. The lattes & creamy specials look good, but as a former Hawaiian resident I like KONA. My oreo cookie chocolate mousse bar was absolutely delicious with deep dark chocolate flavor, a crunchy crust & very creamy center topped with cookie crumbles. I look forward to returning as I notice a menu of great sandwich/breakfast options. read more

I got the three waves iced, it was not very sweet and the flavor was off. My mom got the "Carmel kick" and she said it tasted like pineapples my sister got an iced matcha and she said it tasted more like milk than matcha. The staff was not too friendly. The place was beautiful but did not meet my expectations nor did it meet my family's. read more

Loved the name and stopped in for afternoon coffee. Greeted with an "Aloha", from both pleasant and friendly young ladies behind the counter and a young man sweeping up. The store was bright and clean, relaxing atmosphere with coffee and pastries galore. We went with 2 drip that contained 10% Kona. The 100% required a press and would take more time. We settled in on their rear deck which was filled with tables, umbrellas and a shade to chat or work. Coffee was good. Welcome an opportunity to stop in again soon. Enjoy! read more

Here for a girl's trip in St. Augustine and thought we'd stop by this sweet little gem of a coffee shop on our way out. The menu definitely includes some great Hawaiian flavors. Little did we know, this place has been open less than a week! So lets get into what we REALLY thought. Ambiance - Loved it. There's indoor and outdoor seating, making this a great place for catching up or studying. I also love the walk-up window, being that its so close to beach. For a coffee beach spot, they nailed it. Service - It was good. It could have been better. This may be a personal preference, but for coffee shops I like a friendlier, perkier vibe. I did appreciate that the manager (maybe owner?) came and asked if we had any questions that he could help with when he realized that the line was getting long. He gave great recommendations and helped me pick my drink. They also made our coffees quickly, which was great. So service was good, but could've been better. Food - What you really want to know, lol. We were a group of 6, and ordered the Caramel Wave, Three Waves, Beach Bliss, 2 Creme Brulee Lattes, and a latte with hazelnut and sugarfree vanilla. Everyone that ordered a signature coffee loved it. The person who got a coffee with the sugarfree vanilla did not, but mainly becaue she said the sugar free taste was nasty and overpowering, ruining her coffee. So I'd recommend picking a signature one. They use coffee ice cubes so the coffee never gets watered down, which is great. One of the girls got the marble loaf and said that they warmed it up but it was still cold. The girls who got breakfast sandwiches LOVED them - said they were hot, fresh and tasty. I thought the flavors were awesome though, and I would recommend this place to anyone visiting or living in St. Augustine. I think this coffee shop will easily be one of the town's newest gems and I'm so glad we stopped in! I can't wait to come back!! read more

Great place and great atmosphere. They do special events so must come back for those. Great back patio in shade with parking, so nice. Coffee is so smooth and it's Hawaiian which is less acidic. So nice. Next time we will get the peaberry Hawaiian coffee. More expensive but amazing flavor. Gwen, now a favorite young woman, who served us and told the history of the company. So funny about the donkey. You must ask about the story of the donkey. I won't spoil it by telling you here. There is also a painted mural on the patio. Tried this coffee shop and was not impressed. We ordered two flavored lattes (one iced, one hot) and you could not even taste the flavors. It was like drinking plain coffee with no flavor. Not sure who the barista was but she needs to be trained in how to make these drinks. The barista was also not friendly...no eye contact or acknowledgment when thank you was said to her. We will not be returning to Bad Ass. It was a bad experience and a waste of money... read more
