    First time visiting Cafe Miro. We tried Wagyu beef tartar, escargot, and focaccia with butter. Both Wagyu beef tartar and escargot were good with glass of Cabernet Sauvignon. Service was great as high end restaurant.

    Surprised we just recently discovered Cafe Miro which recently revamped their menu to offer à la carte options. Love the simplistic and modern decor in the restaurant and especially love the background music they played throughout our meal. What drew us to try this restaurant was a post on IG of their ahi and uni brioche. Was a bit disappointed that they didn't list the caviar version on the menu but I guess previous diners knew to ask for it. We only noticed the table next to us having it but they did opt for the tasting menu which didn't seem to be an exorbitant amount of food (which we were afraid of). We started with both the ahi and uni brioche which were both amazing. Next time we will definitely add that one to the list of snacks. My wife loves escargots and it definitely hit the spot as it was both buttery and garlicky. Will have to admit Cafe Miro's version rivals the best in Paris and is better than what we have at Bouchon. I'll be honest, I had hoped to love the Kauai prawns but so far the prawns at Bavel take the grown. The prawns were fresh and decently sized but wasn't a fan of the flavor for some reason. We loved the charred cabbage which was a nice modern rendition of your typical Chinese chicken salad minus the chicken of course! For our main, we selected the seared scallops w/ dried scallop porridge. The scallops were perfectly seared and seasoned and the porridge complimented the scallops perfectly. The fries were also fried to the perfect golden brown and quite enjoyed Chef's "Cane" sauce. Needless to say we were pretty full but still had room for their chocolate Strauss milk soft serve which was good but we can get something similar back in LA. The star was definitely the banana mochi cake which was fantastic! I personally love banana bread and when you combine that with a mochi like bread ... OMFG!! Will definitely be back the next time out to the island and mahalo to Chef Kajioka and team for an amazing meal. We will definitely opt for the tasting meal next time!

    Absolutely an awesome meal. Love the ease of ordering à la carte or prix fix...you have options! We went for a la carte and were totally satisfied. We started with 5 starters. Their amazing ahi brioche was so buttery and full of flavor. The chive madeleines with foie gras butter was a surprising combo of savory and slightly sweet. The beef tartare with egg yolk was served with potato chips. The bone marrow was so delicious with beef cheek marmalade on thicker toasts. Next the seared cabbage was delightful, topped with almonds, wontons, orange and a zesty vinaigrette. Are you getting the idea that the menu by Chef Chris is creative, inspired and delicious? You bet! Next we shared the burger and black cod. The burger was so good and shoestring fries so crispy...i would have gone for seconds. The black cod was good but not a stand out. The ribeye was great...perfectly medium rare, full of flavor. It paired well with the smashed potatoes and garlic spinach. Then came dessert...their banana mochi cake with soft serve ice cream. My husband made the mistake of getting 3 toppings...so of course had to finish all 3 servings . We loved the service and attention given!

    We came here for dinner with the intention of getting the Valentine's fix menu but decided to go for ala carte which I believe was the right choice. Everything was delicious, but my favorite was the uni brioche and my partner liked the bone marrow. The uni just melts in your mouth with the soft crunch of the brioche, well balanced flavors. The bone marrow was very flavorful and gelatinous, tasted like a nice beef stew. For drinks we enjoyed the zero-proofs and my favorite was the Powerpuff. It was refreshing and light. I would come here again for special occasions, prices are on the higher side, but food and service were great. They have parking in the back, but it's tight and usually full, street parking recommended.

    I think the best thing Cafe Miro has done is to introduce an ala carte menu that features the greatest hits. We've gone back twice in 2 weeks and fully intend to keep coming back more frequently. Top of the list of must-haves are the brioche trio and the charred cabbage. Absolute must-haves. But hubby kept wanting to come back for the wagyu burger which is probably the best burger in Hawaii by far. It is so well-balanced, perfectly seasoned, and you can really taste the wagyu. I do still stand by my one teeny tiny critique that it could use a pickle spear on the side to make the whole dish sublime. The fries on the side are perfectly cooked and perfectly seasoned, absolutely no complaints there and we always clean out the plate. The cocktails have definitely evolved and are very creative and delicious. Service, as usual, is excellent with extremely attentive staff that just exude happiness to be there. The ambiance is the same classy atmosphere you've come to expect. It's perfect for a date night or a family dinner. They are also super kid-friendly and have allowed us to order special dishes for the littles when we do the prix fixe menu. Tonight, they even made my 8-year-old a special non-alcoholic mixed drink to her liking! They really go above and beyond here and they never disappoint. Definitely a must-have when on Oahu!

    Absolutely amazing reboot of Miro Kaimuki. Amazing à la carte menu. The best double wagyu cheeseburger with caramelized onion jam and green peppercorn aioli plus super crispy fries. Salads for non meager eaters sparkled and appetizers and entrees - scallops, wagyu rib eye, cod - dazzled. This place is not to be missed.

    Hurry! You only have a few days left to experience the casual elegance that is Cafe Miro. Choose to enjoy three courses, four courses, or order ala carte. We were gifted a cup of cold potato vichyssoise to start our meal. It was smooth with a touch of cream. If you love variety, the Appetizer Sampler is the way to go. It includes five petite starters including fresh Ahi, crab croquette, salmon roulade, Oyster Rockefeller, and deviled egg with prosciutto. My favorites were the crab croquette--lightly crisp on the outside, smooth and creamy inside--and the buttery and herbaceous Oyster Rockefeller. We also enjoyed the raw oysters with a touch of ponzu. For an entree, we all loved the fresh catch. The day we dined it was Opah in almond, browned butter. The fish was stunning. Served in a generous double fillet portion with veg and scalloped potato. I will miss it! For dessert we had the Dessert Sampler and Cheese Plate. The Chef Dessert was a chocolate-banana mouse, the gelato was coffee, and there was a mini creme brûlée. The Cheese Plate featured a brie, a cheddar and a gorgonzola with house made raisin bread and fruit. Service was gracious and friendly. Be aware they don't have all of their wines since they are winding down, but we still found some yummy things to drink. After over 22-years of service, Chef Kobayashi is retiring and Cafe Miro will close its doors on the 20th. Chef Chris Kajioka is slated to takeover the space and reopen with a similar concept.

    Cafe Miro has closed its doors after 22 years of quietly serving some of the best French-inspired meals in town. I was lucky enough to dine here on their second to the last night of business and I was reminded of how awesome the food and service was at this establishment. Cafe Miro, you will be missed. But I have high hopes that the restaurant that will be opening in this very spot in February 2020 will just as good, if not better!

    4.5 stars! If you see my schedule, you would think i am insane since you will find back to back meetings all over the island, work outs, volunteering, charity events, church, etc but something that wont ever miss is scheduling time to eat good food! Dont they say " work hard, eat harder" ?!! Or at least thats my mantra ;) Anyways, long review short, I finished work at 8:30pm so pulled my open table app and thats how ended up here. Its been years since last time i was here so perfect timing to come back: Ambience: original conditions! Nothing fancy but who cares as long as the food is good. Service: my waiter was awesome! 10+ points for that! Food: i tried their fixed menu of 4 courses ($60) and added a side order mushroom cream soup ($8) Appetizer 1: I tried their sampler and really liked it, the best one was the escargot style oyster! Appetizer 2: Scallop: good flavor too! Entré: Pan seared catch of the day in a butter sauce! Pretty good! Fish was fresh too! Dessert: I am not a sweet person but it was nice to get a little bit of everything for dessert (see my pict) Their mushroom soup was refreshing and tasty! Overall... #bellyapproved And no, I didn't finish it all so it's perfect to have left overs for tomorrows lunch.

    I went to dinner here and enjoyed a wonderful experience. For appetizers we ordered the Pan Fried Seafood Medley, Fresh Oysters (will be back for these), and Ahi Carpaccio. For the main entrees, I had the Pan Fried Opah (they substitute with MahiMahi with Almond Brown Butter Sauce and my friend had the Rib Eye Steak with Red Wine Sauce. (Both were prepared much to our liking).

    "You must chose, but chose wisely"- Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Here it is- a week before your wedding anniversary and you are trying to decide where to take da wife to celebrate that special day. "Ok", she says, "any place is fine" but guys, you know what that means: screw up the selection and you'll never hear the end of it. There is nothing more depressing than hearing your wife say, "the dinner was so/so". I have been married long enough to know that, and I can tell you I'm not batting a thousand. After consulting Yelp (of course) and speaking with learned local chowhounds, I decided our dinner would be at Cafe Miro- a higher class restaurant without the pretentiousness, in da Kaimuki hood, with a price point that (while not cheap) will not break da bank. The offerings are framed around a three course prix fixe with multiple choices or a four course chef's special selections which is somewhat interchangeable anyway. Add the amuse-bouche and you really have a four or five course grouping for each. Confused? The servers (as has been noted by others) are very patient and will explain your options until you are comfortable with your understanding and ultimately your choices. Our evening started with glasses of complimentary champagne to celebrate our anniversary- a classy prelude. (Mahalos Cafe Miro!) This was followed by the amuse-bouche which was a delightful cup of vichyssoise to cleanse the palate. Our selections? Da wife chose a delicious seafood salad with an orange yuzu vinaigrette and included two prawns, squid, scallops and a mussel, a fresh mahimahi almondine entree and the chef's assorted dessert plate. I chose the fresh mozzarella with walnuts and prosciutto salad bathed in a tasty olive oil/ vinegar dressing, a small lobster tail appetizer, mini rack of lamb ( two pieces) and the assorted dessert plate. We split the lobster tail and exchanged mahimahi and lamb servings to have a true "surf n turf" for each of us. We really enjoyed the preparations and just as importantly, the pacing of the courses. They were quite attentive without being overbearing and this is with a restaurant that was almost completely full by the time we finished. We were served by the dynamic duo of Kelly and Ryan I. - a friendly pair that made it a memorable evening for us. Total time for our dinner, just a smidgin over two hours and we enjoyed every minute of it. Cafe Miro is definitely a worthy contender when looking for that special dining venue. We'll definitely be back.

    Winding up our trip, we had our last dinner here. With the recent California ban on foie gras, I made a point to have this delicacy at least once while being here. With a fellow 'foie fan' arriving on Tuesday, that was the only available evening that we could meet for dinner. My first instinct was to get a reservation at Le Bistro, but unfortunately they are closed Tuesdays. Clicking on Yelp search, this was the first restaurant to pop up and plus the reviews were pretty favorable. How can you say no! Nice perk and start. Shared appetizer 2) Seared foie gras (http://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=ANTzraZMbuIXWCywB3oHgw&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q) - Shared by our party of three, we enjoyed it, but my travel buddy enjoyed Roy's a bit more as the sear was harder. First course 3) Seafood salad (http://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=4Bjx3YPJSf3qSpv4-FIkgA&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q) - Very clean tasting and certainly no shortage of ingredients (prawns, scallops, and mussels) . Would order this again. Indigenous to the island, my only other taste of this was at Mitch's in his sashimi/miso soup omakase menu. If you're a lobster fan, you should try this. The flavor was good, but the sauce overwhelmed it a bit. Probably would have enjoyed it more if it was a little more rare. Fourth course 6) Dessert sampler (http://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=tIxPqheBuViqMs8zDPq2vw&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q) - The photo says it all, offerings of a little bit of everything. The crème brulee was my favorite of the four. On a rainy Tuesday night, the restaurant was only half filled, mostly with what seemed to be neighborhood locals. The chef came out to greet a few tables, probably frequent diners. With the advent of the number of famous chef restaurants especially in Waikiki (Nobu's, Roy's, Morimoto's, etc.), this doesn't quite quality as a high-end, schmooze kind of place. There are a few parking spaces in their back lot or, if you time it right, you'll probably find parking along Waialae. If you're looking for a place to 'wow' out-of-towners, there aren't many bells and whistles here. But, if you're looking for a quiet, mellow dinner with above average food, this place is right for you.

    I'm big on birthdays.. and will pretty much celebrate my birthday the whole week/weekend... what I like to call "birthday week." I had chosen to do a family dinner at Arancino's Kahala but couldn't decide where to go for my birthday dinner with my girlfriends. I wanted to do it somewhere kind of "fancy" and elegant but also didn't want it to be too expensive. A few places came to mind.. Signatures.. MW... and then I remembered wanting to try Cafe Miro since I have passed by that place so many times. Checked out the pricing online and thought it was pretty reasonable being that it's a fine dining restaurant. Cafe Miro is pretty easy to miss.. it doesn't really stand out when you're passing down Waialae. Most of my friends had no idea it was even there. Parking is in the back.. there isn't a lot available but there is also street parking. Upon entering, I was really pleased with the atmosphere. It looks a lot bigger than it does from the outside. I actually expected it to be a very tiny restaurant. It has a very romantic setting.. so a good place for date nights ;) Our server was very friendly and attentive. He explained to us how the menu work. There is a choice of doing a 3 course or 4 course and they are interchangeable so you can choose a dish from either side of the menu. I decided to do the 3 course menu because I wasn't extremely hungry. I chose to get the seafood salad, the steak with the red wine reduction and wasabi cream and the dessert platter. For my first course (seafood salad) I was surprised how big it was and how much seafood was in it. It almost could have been a meal on it's own! It had a good amount of shrimp, scallops, mussels and fish. Very yummy! The second course.. my rib eye steak was delish! I loved the sauce on it. It also came with a side of potato gratan and brussel sprouts (my fav). As for dessert, I love how you get an assortment of desserts. It came with 3... creme brulee, sorbet in a wafer type bowl and some kind of raspberry chocolate mousse cake? (Sorry forgot what the waiter told me). I wasn't too fond of the cake.. but definitely enjoyed the creme brulee and wish their was more of it! Overall I had a great experience. Food was good and service was great!

    This dessert cannot be eaten. it's a table marker. They also gave my husband a custom menu with his name on it!

    it's as kid friendly as any other establishment that serves french food. they don't have a kids menu, but you would have seen that by looking on the menu. there is no playroom if that is what you want.

We had the crab dynamite, the ahi brioche, and the prosciutto and burrata. SO GOOD! My friends and I had such a great time and will definitely be back.

I'm a horrible photographer so I can't capture it to show you but just get it! You're welcome! I love their bourbon, candied bacon... the best! The Sunday brunch is simple, easy, and reasonable. Don't bring more than a table of 4. Also, not for kids. This is a magical, quiet place for adults, an oasis in the midst of the Ala Moana noise and craziness. It has bar seating, cocktail lounge seating and a few "dining tables." The food is pretty good, I would give it a 4/5 because the portions are rather moderately small. But overall tasty and the bacon is outstanding. We had to order 6 items for 2 people to feel slightly full. But the menu is also fairly small with just tasting style apps meant for sharing and enjoying, they are not hearty and not meant to be entree sized. The cocktails are great, they do a wonderful presentation complete with smoke and etc. They have an extensive whiskey list and the options are are all diverse (mules, daiquiri, mescal, champs) yet standard. Now the service is pretty bad, greeted and asked repeatedly if we had a reservation which we did, we almost felt unwelcomed. Then the older skinny bartender perhaps in his 60's was very unfriendly and tried not to talk to us, take our order or even acknowledge us even though he was standing in front of us drinking water from his water bottle. This guy needs to work at a gas station or something where he can just sit in a corner and not speak to people. I wouldn't come here again, but if I were in the area and craving bacon I suppose I would. =) Bad service is just so off-putting.

    This review is for the recently opened speakeasy,Hush, which is located upstairs. I made…read morereservations through IG and if you go on their site you have to click on hush on Open Table. I made reservations for 5:45 PM however when I checked in at Pint and Jigger, I was notified that the reservations were for P&J and not the speakeasy which opens at 6 PM. Therefore I believe that there are still kinks to be made with their reservation system. We waited at the bar until it was sorted out. You walk through a whiskey wall and walk upstairs to the speakeasy. They used a lot of the decor from the former location known as Harry's Emporium. We were the only ones for about an hour so we were able to maximize the bartender's time. Max is an excellent bartender and informed us that they are only open on the weekends for now. He's the only bartender and they are still working out staffing issues. No food at the moment. The theme is New Orleans/French. The drinks and music all have that vibe. The room is dim but not too dark. We left around 7:30 PM when two other couples showed up. We will definitely be returning.
