Over 3 years later, I went back. I dunno, I do not get it, how so many of the reviews here are so good. The storefront itself is beautiful and inviting... and I like that there are a few tables outside by a fountain. The little marketplace inside is interesting but overpriced. And, I am one willing to pay for great Italian ingredients. Nothing stood out to me on this date. I went in looking for a mozza ball but ended with mozza cheese slices. Decent in taste I was later told by hubby and this was priced ok but not really what we wanted. The salads in the case did not look that great and I did not see a lot of variety. Service was barely there (indifferent, slow despite me being the only customer in the whole place at 4pm) but there is a huge tip jar there at the register. I have no problem with that when there is service but the gal did not look like she wanted to be there nor could she crack a smile. This place in my opinion, could be amazing. Just bought another sandwich today good as usual I go there at least three days a week but I think in the last five months they've only put in my number for points one time I guess I will have to start asking for receipts I have bought over 50 sandwiches there and I think I've My points only a few times today I wouldn't had another order and paid cash they forgot to ask me to put in my phone number again... Been coming here for years. Not sure what is going on but I've had multiple bad experiences now. This time ordered my usual Venice got home and it looked like they forgot the cheese. When I called to ask they said that they pre-make their sandwiches and the cheese is on there it's just melted and it looks like mayonnaise (gross). Caesar's is a Bakersfield staple for really excellent sandwiches and sides. They have a great deli inside, where you can purchase sides, etc. They've got fountain drinks as well as teas, varieties of water, juices, and so on. Their sandwiches are excellent, their service is really good, and their sides are all killer. I love this location. The staff is really nice, and they know their stuff. You can also purchase cheeses, chips, and they always have party platters and stuff for a decent price. Try the Caesar's special and the turkey sandwich. We ordered take-out from the catering menu for a Father's Day dinner at home. The lasagna was amazing! Just make sure your oven is big enough to fit the pan for the x-large if you order it cold to heat at home. Ours was too small and we had to improvise by dividing it up in smaller pans. I have been a fan of Caesars for over 40 years, especially the one on Wilson. I've never really been that impressed with the store on Brimhall but I went ahead and tried it yesterday. I was so disappointed. I called in my order consisting of a pickled Tongue sandwich with macaroni salad and a Venice on a hard roll (my favorite which Is always with chips and a bottle of root beer) and when I asked when I would pick it up, I replied "20 minutes." I arrived exactly on time and went to the cash register that had a sign designating it for pick up orders. No other customers were ahead of me and I told the lady that I was there for a pick up order. She replied that it was "not [her] job" and she didn't know how to use the register then she disappeared around the corner. I moved over to the other register and there was a gentleman standing next to me so I suggested that he go ahead since he seemed in a hurry. It took him a few minutes to place his order so I stepped over to the beverage area to see if they I had a root beer which they did not. When I got back in line 2 ladies we were ahead of me picking up a take-out order. Their order appeared to take several minutes. I finally got my turn at the counter and to my consternation, discovered that my order had not yet been filled causing another five+ minute wait. Additionally, the hard roll I ordered lived up to its description: it was very hard. In fact it was dry and stale to the point that it broke into hard pieces when I bit into it. In sharp contrast, I highly recommend Caesars on Wilson Road. They are always well organized and friendly. Their shop is always well stocked and their sandwiches just taste better. I don't know what the difference is but their sandwiches contain more meat and cheese and are delicious. read more

I grew up on basque food so I've got a small obsession for pickled tongue. I was super excited to discover that this little deli offers it as a side and in a sandwich. The first time I went there they were unfortunately all out. I sadly went with something else. The sandwich was the Caesar and it was quite good. I ordered some clam chowder as well and was pleasantly surprised. I went back there yesterday and FINALLY got my pickled tongue sandwich! It. Was. Amazing. We went for a covid-style lunch date. Caesar's has a lovely patio with a nice water fountain. The tables were adequately spaced and were shaded. We called in our order and it was ready for us when we arrived. Ordered one sandwich combo and a second sandwich. Final cost was around $17 plus tip. We shared a meatball sandwich and a deep pit beef sandwich. The meatball sandwich tasted okay, but the deep pit beef was phenomenal. I am still thinking about this sandwich days later. The flavor was great but it was also so incredibly lean. I don't like eating fatty meats and often end up picking off chunks of fat from these kinds of sandwiches. But I didn't have to do that with this one. The lack of visible fat did not impact the tenderness - it was simply wonderful. This was our very first visit to Caesar's Deli and we will certainly be back for that deep pit beef! Also interested in those family-style take home meals on their catering menu. read more

I've been on a sub sandwich kick lately. I've seen this place and always wanted to try it but never had the time. Finally got to try it and I was a little disappointed. I ordered the Venice. It's a ham sandwich with peppers, lettuce, and mayo. It would have been really good had they put a little more ham. All that bread (stale bread) and such little meat. I'm pretty sure there was more lettuce than anything. I'll admit the sandwiches are decently priced. I got the meal, so that came with a drink, sandwich and I chose the potato salad as a side. The potato salad was good but I'm wondering if they make their own or if they bought containers from Albertsons? There is very little seating so I had to take my order to go. I'll come back and try another sandwich. Maybe I caught them on an off day. Going off first impression though, I have to give this place 3 stars. read more

Caesars has been one of our favorites for many years. It's seems like business has definitely gone down hill. Sandwich fillings are thin and on dry bread. The day I went in we placed a phone order and weren't told until we came in to pick up that they were only accepting cash. They had no diet soda or unsweetened tea available and the girl behind the cash register had an attitude with several customers. She was rolling her eyes behind the glass with the customer ahead of me and when I asked her if drinks came with our combos she held up the paper and said "it doesn't say drinks". Deep pit sandwich is to die for - the meat is savory, the bun is JUST enough to hold up to the moist meat, but soft enough to bite into. This is the first visit to this location. I ordered a Venice , ham and Swiss with the perfect amount of shredded lettuce , mayo and mustard , banana peppers. Absolutely yummy ! My favorite is the Caesar's special classic sandwich; it comes with 2 kinds of salami, ham, mortadella, cheese, peperoncinis, shredded lettuce, and their famous red spread on an Italian roll. This sandwich has all the makings of a classic deli hoagie with quality meats and fresh ingredients. You can get the sandwich for around $7 and a combo for just a couple dollars more. Very fresh ingredients and crisp taste. Sandwiches are made with proportional ingredients; I like my sandwiches heavy on the meat, but not as to overpower the accessory ingredients and seasonings. The pasta selection is diverse and I haven't tried anything yet I did not thoroughly enjoy. Everything pops with taste. Not bland, yet not overbearing. Every taste bud will enjoy the ride as you journey through your meal. Saw all the great reviews & pictures, so I decided to give this place a try. Not bad. I ordered 2 sandwiches - the special and the pastrami. The bread is extremely dry. Volume of condiments poured in the sandwiches is way too little. If you guys start producing sandwiches with better (softer) bread, and are generous when it comes to toppings and condiments, then you'll get 2 more stars from me! I have been branching out from my same old sandwich shop that are close to my job, Subway, Jersey Mike's and Quiznos. So I have been here a few times in the last couple of months. I had the smoked turkey, felt like that was a solid sandwich, and the roma, another good, not excellent sandwich. Today I had the deep pit sandwich and it was only remarkable in its blandness and lack of flavor. I did order it with both salsa and bbq sauce, glad I did. It was not a horrible sandwich but I will tell you this: it was the first time in a long time I threw away like three inches of a sandwich. The majority of my experiences with Caesar's Italian Delicatessen have been with the food that they cater. One of my friends orders their large salads every time she throws a party. You can get a huge salad that serves 20-30 people for only $15-20 depending on what toppings you want on it. The presentation is very nice and the lettuce and vegetables always fresh and crisp. I'm a teacher at an elementary school in town. Every month the different grade levels take turns sponsoring a lunch for the entire staff. We call these Fat Fridays. At least once or twice a year, a grade level caters a pasta lunch from Caesar's Italian Delicatessen. I've tried their spaghetti, lasagna, and penne at these events as well as the salads and everything is tasty, even produced in such large quantities. We get pretty excited (well, everybody except for the one celiac teacher) when we see the big foil catering pans from Caesar's. Recently, I had the opportunity to visit Caesar's Italian Deli, located on the Northeast corner of Calloway and Brimhall in person when I decided I was going to learn to make my own tiramisu. Where to find ladyfingers? Mom called a friend of hers that is Italian to pose this perplexing question and she told us to find an Italian Deli. Not only do they sell ladyfingers at very reasonable prices, but they also carry a number of other Italian grocery items including frozen tiramisu for those in more of a rush than I. You can also purchase a variety of sandwiches to eat on site and of course you can purchase a variety of deli meats and cheeses. If you are planning a party and like Italian food you really need to make a trip down to Caesar's Italian Delicatessen to let them cater it for you. I love this deli. I've been going there since the original location on the East side was around. Not sure if it still is? The sandwiches are always delicious and consistent. It reminds me of childhood lunches with my Grandmother! Everything is delicious, including their olive selection, giant pickles, fresh sides, and the All time best "special sandwich." Call your order in and pick it up!! Oh huh, their platters are great for parties too. It's great to pick up on a night when your kiddo is sick, and there's no time to cook. I went in today to pick up an order but I stood by the door at first because I was looking for a designated pickup spot for Uber/door dash/Postmates. A random customer #1 told me I had to get in line which I found strange. I went up to the cashier asking her if a delivery service employee had to wait in line. She said no and that she would bring me the order I was picking up. As I stood there waiting for the food customer #2 told me to get in line. I had already been helped so I explained to her that I worked for a delivery service. A male employee approached me and insisted that I had to get in line. He did not let me explain to him that I had already been helped and that I was picking up for a delivery service. I became frustrated and decided to leave because it was a very hostile environment. This place is not doordash/Postmates/Uber friendly. The employees here do not seem to have a clear understanding of what a delivery service is and how it works. read more
