Bakersfield Roll

We checked out Kage Asian Bistro & Lounge and overall had a great experience! The decor and interior are gorgeous, and the whole place has a really nice atmosphere. Service was super fast, and our waiter was extremely nice and attentive. Our food came out really quickly too. The music inside is definitely on the louder side. I personally didn't mind it because it helped drown out some of the background chatter, but it did make it a little harder for my husband and I to hear each other. Here's what we ordered: Chili Ponzu Gyoza -- 10/10 Hands down the best thing we ordered! SO good. The outside had the perfect crunch and the chili ponzu sauce was incredible. Definitely a must-order! Spicy Noodles with Chicken -- 9/10 Packed with flavor and the chicken was cooked perfectly. It was super juicy and tender, almost like it had been slow-cooked. Definitely another favorite. Dragon Dance Cocktail -- 8/10 Such a cute, vibrant pink drink and really refreshing with a fruity flavor. My only complaint is that I wish it was just a little stronger but overall, I really liked it! Bakersfield Roll -- 5/10 The fresh jalapeño on top was a nice touch, but unfortunately the flavors in this one just didn't really do it for us. Overall, we had a really good experience. The space is gorgeous, the service was great, and there were definitely some standout dishes. We'll for sure be back for those gyoza and spicy noodles!

This is a new, exciting place a lot of people are raving about. The place is roomy, very well decorated, with a lot of young people and loud electronic music. The servers are young, slender, and dressed in all black. We tried a few appetizer, the beef and asparagus skewers and carpaccio was wonderful. The cocktails were really good too. My main course was miso encrusted cod. The cod was made perfectly, but I was hoping for more savory and less sweet. My wife had Korean Short ribs, which was OK. Overall the ambiance is 10/10, food is average.

What an amazing new restaurant!!! When we arrived the place was nice and crowded with a special vibe. Everyone is dressed nice and the energy is great. We visited on a Saturday around 8, wait was about an hour and we got seated right before 9. The restaurant is loud and fun . AC was blowing ... beautiful inside . I am blown away at how delicious the food was. I can't begin to describe all the delicious plates we had. We tried a variety of appetizers and entrees. Flavor and quality was a ten ! Last service was great. Our waiter was amazing. I wish I could remember his name. He was very attentive and recommended some delicious food ... I would definitely return and recommend!!

I came in a group of 8 on a Saturday night for a birthday. Kage was incredibly packed at the time and weren't taking reservations. The inside was dimly lit and decorated with cute lanterns and candles - I almost felt like I was in LA. The music was very loud though, and I could barely hear my friends who were standing right next to me. We ordered the yuzu honey walnut shrimp and ribeye asparagus to share. Both were delicious, but the yuzu honey walnut shrimp was my favorite! My friend and I shared the miso black cod and miso popcorn shrimp for our entrees. The miso black cod was very yummy and the sauce was delicious. The miso popcorn shrimp was yummy, but I'd definitely recommend the yuzu honey walnut shrimp over this one. I also tried both the Hello miss kitty and dragon dance - the dragon dance was my favorite as it was a little sweeter and had less of an alcoholic taste. Overall, we had a great experience at Kage and will be back for the next special occasion!

Came at 8pm for a late dinner with friends. You could hear the music from outside of the building which surprised me a bit. We sat at the bar while waiting for a table and the service was great and the drinks were very good! When we got moved to our table we were right under a speaker and we could barely hear each other. We also couldn't hear the server and as we waited for our food the music kept getting louder. We kept trying to talk but it ended up feeling very disconnected because we were just trying to read each others lips and mimic facial expressions which was unfortunate. Back to the food and drinks though, everything was incredible! It all tasted so good and it came out in a timely manner. So if you're looking to sit down and talk, I'd maybe recommend going earlier, though I don't know when they start playing music as this was my first time here.

The food was delicious, I will definitely be back. Atmosphere at 5pm is definitely different from 8pm when we left. If you have children go early, the later it gets the busier it gets. The waiter was so kind and helpful. If you get there right at 5 we did wait a little while for them to have their team meeting and they didn't even offer drinks for quite awhile after we were seated. We didn't mind waiting but I saw others around us that seemed very bothered with it. My only complaint is the parking lot is set up horribly. When we tried to leave it was insane trying to get out of the parking space because the width of the aisles are way too narrow. I have a mid sized car and I had to do 7 point turnabout to get out of there.

Bakersfield ! This is what yall needed. Let's Start off with the atmosphere. First and foremost the vibes here are chill relaxed and great welcoming the second you enter those entry doors. The hosts great you in such a welcoming manner makes you feel like you are welcomed and at home. When seated your servers each one smiling and happy to welcome you. The excitement that each one has when they speak about the food is honest and truthful. The variety of food and different Asian style dishes and dishes with the KAGE touch are so intriguing I'm not sure you would be able to try all the food in one night. This is a great taste of happiness. From the Lobster mien to the robata ribeye and to the house fried rice oh and the sticky wings ! All this food is amazing i wish i could say that you would need a to go box when your finished but it's just that great you will finish all your food before leaving. Chefs Kiss to the cooks in the back ! Their sushi and fresh fish amazing. The salads are crafted just the right amount of dressing ! Dessert the lava cake and macha cheesecake such a delight add for you sweet tooth fans ! Cocktails are amazing i didn't get to add pictures of the cocktails but i will later since the photo cap is 20. But the bartenders know exactly what they are doing the craft and ambiance of the drinks make the taste that much more exceptional. Fan Faves Sexy Geisha, Dragon Dance, Forbidden Garden, and Golden Koi ! Overall the dining experience by far my fave in town! Hands Down KAGE staff!! Keep that energy we appreciate you ! Also if you aren't in for the dining experience they have a cocktail and lounge area that later in the night gets to be a social area that is just right for the vibes to relax a little adjust that tie and remember what life is about. Late nights they have DJs who play the right type of music to keep the energy up and going. The lights adjust and set the tone for the night. Staff continues to set the expectations that much hiring. If you visit ! Take pictures of your food and cocktails ! We need to get the word out about KAGE they are the real deal !

The food was ok, tried the spicy noodles and I was expecting a lot more flavors, the drink was good. It's nice in there the bar area is specious I would return, but for a drink only. Service was not the best the waiter took forever to attend us. You should all try it we all have different experiences and different taste buds.

Can I just say this is one of my new favorites !! The food is exquisite and flavorful!! Everything we ate and tried was delicious. Pork belly tacos blew our mind. The Kage roll is perfect!! Everything is so yummy. We ordered as much as we could (not everything pictured because we had to dig in immediately). The drinks are very good! I love the flavors. You need to order dessert. The molten lava cake with taro ice cream is to die for. Service is so friendly. Are waiter was patient and great. He had some good recommendations! We got here around 5pm, right at opening so we were seated immediately. Music wasn't too loud but as it got later in the night it was bumping up. Overall, I need to come back, I can't stop thinking about the sushi, the steak, and the cake!

What an amazing evening!!! We celebrated our 17th Anniversary with Kage. As we went through the front door we were met by the Hostess that immediately took us to a table on the bar side of the restaurant. The tables are a little on the small side and for me I wouldn't like the real short backed chair, my wife didn't mind. Our server Brian was awesome. He checked on us right after we sat down. He inquired how we were doing and asked if we water tap or bottled water and gave us a few minutes to look over the menu. When he returned he asked if we want anything besides water which we did. I ordered the Emperor's Old Fashion. This has a house made 5 Spice Simple Syrup, Bitters and Emperors Bourbon served over a ice block. My wife had the Dragon Dance and she loved it. Brian gave us a few suggestions on appetizers and main courses. We went with the Tiradito which was a thin slice of Yellow Tail spicy miso, salsa macha etc. lots of great flavors. We only wished the Yellow Tail had been a little thicker. We also order the Chili Gyoza's that were out of this world delicious. The sweet chili sauce wasn't overly spicy at the same time was packed with great flavors. The are definitely sharable as Brian suggested. We had the dumpling soup to me was the weakest part evening. The dumpling was good the broth not much flavor. For our main we ordered the Black Cod. This was absolutely awesome. The cod was perfectly cooked with an amazing miso sauce that complimented the fish. This was served with asparagus, edamame and Rice. Asparagus was perfectly cooked as great with the sauce the was in the bottom of the plate. The price seemed about right for the quality of food and the trendy atmosphere we were in. Thanks Brian for making our 17th Anniversary Special!!!

Food was amazing, but we had a 6:45pm reservation and by the time our food came, the music was so loud it was impossible to hear each other.

Itadakimasu! We have eaten at Hon Ramen several times and each time is a delight. On our first…read morevisit we tried takoyaki as an appetizer and were smitten. These are fried octopus balls with a delicate crispy shell and a creamy interior with perfectly cooked octopus. They are garnished with kewpie mayonnaise and eel sauce with delicate shaved fish dancing on top. This is the only place in town for takoyaki and it is exactly like takoyaki in Japan. This time we opted for the salmon rolls which have pillow soft steamed buns, perfectly cooked moist salmon, eel sauce, and sweet slivered carrot. They are light and delicious with an order of two making a wonderful appetizer for the both of us. My husband ordered the Bulgoji bowl with savory and tender beef atop sticky rice. It is beautifully seasoned and not spicy which I love because I can actually enjoy it. In general bulgoji is too spicy for me so this is a wonderful discovery. My choice of chicken Ramen was also a win as the broth is rich and savory and the noodles have a great firm bite. The bowl is dressed with rich and tender chicken thigh, a fish cake, broccoli, spring onion, slivered carrot, and a marinated soft boiled egg. Food and service are phenomenal...Hon Ramen is THE place to go in Bakersfield. The sushi here is also top notch and prepared by the owner. Once a year he returns to Japan to visit family so for that period sushi is not available. Everything we have ever tried here has been a feast for the eyes and the tastebuds.

The quality of everything we've had here is excellent…read more I had bulgogi today, which was super tasty, everything cooked just right. You can tell when the chef knows EXACTLY how to do everything perfectly. In the past, the noodle soup I've had was also very well done. Great broth, noodles cooked perfectly. And great service too!
