Mother's Day 2026 - I might be slow at posting, but I loved it. The service was quick, friendly, and even gave me a cute rose. The atmosphere is full of joy, perfect lighting, and music that is always so upbeat. The food is perfection to me. It's my favorite place to get ramen and chashu buns. The best part... They remember me and my family. It's a cool experience to come in and they ask about the family.
Hon Ramen reigns supreme. Any time, every time. The service is friendly, the rolls are my favorite in town and the ramen is soul warming. See my previous photos and reviews and know that this place is a winner.
I had a very fast & good experience here for lunch! I walked over here from the court (jury duty nonsense) because it was so close by. I got here right before 12 & I was seated immediately. Within 5 minutes of ordering, I received my food! My server was quick. I totally beat the lunch rush! I love the atmosphere in here. The bright colors are fun & the architecture is modern & cute. I ordered a miso soup & a regular salmon roll. The soup was a tad on the overly-onion flavored side but it was nice & hot. The roll was perfect! Literally the perfect size. Fresh salmon, the rice was EXTRA sticky. It was great. With these and a tea, it was $20 so fairly priced! I wish I was downtown more often because I'd totally come by more. I remember in the past, I'd get their ramen & it was so good. Til next time!
This restaurant did not disappoint. I reached around kitchen closing time and service was really quick. There were guests still dining and there was no rush to leave. The ramen bowl was great. They definitely know to make a perfect bowl of well seasoned ramen. The reviews for this restaurant speak about the quality of food. They have bar seating as well as table seating. Pricing was moderate high. Will definitely recommend this restaurant.
Hon Ramen absolutely ate. The Spicy Garlic Miso Ramen was insanely good, super rich, spicy, and so comforting. The vibes were immaculate too, super chill. Walked in stressed, left feeling like I was living in a lofi study playlist. 10/10. Quick service too.

Walking inside takes you into a new world. They have multiple screens with K-pop playing. I liked the low lights and trending decor. We got ramen & a spicy tuna roll. The service was on point, restroom was clean & fresh, only wish I'd had time for the green tea ice cream. I could see this being a nice place to enjoy sake & dinner on date night.
We are new to the area and were trying to get acquainted with the downtown shops one day and found ourselves right across the street and needed to stop in for lunch! We walked in and the interior was super cool so right away we were excited for the experience. We put our orders in and got our food delivered pretty fast! We definitely enjoyed ourselves - if you're in need of some good ramen, stop by! We will be back as well.
Violently craving ramen & decided to visit this restaurant with my son. We were greeted & sat quickly. We ordered the Yaki Pork Gyoza for an appetizer, the chicken ramen, and a crunchy shrimp roll. The gyoza came out quickly and to my pleasant surprise had excess crispy bit (so crunchy and good). Flavorful gyoza with crispy exterior and perfect spicy soy based dipping sauce. Next, the chicken ramen came quickly piping hot. My son & I shared the ramen and it was plenty! The ramen had large pieces of chicken, broccoli, noodles, etc. The broth was so flavorful! Amazing ramen! We then received the shrimp crunch roll with tiny crunchy tempura bits on the exterior and imitation crab and fried shrimp in the roll. Can't wait to come back! Service was really great! My son wanted to try different Japanese soda's and the waitress suggested great recommendations.
I had been meaning to try this place for a year. I was finally able to this past week while catching up with a friend :) I am sort of a Ramen snob, and have my one select restaurant in town, but after this visit, I can definitely say this place beats out the rest! It is sooo good! My only issue with the place is the pricing for the spicy sauce and additional toppings. The hon ramen has limited toppings in comparison to other ramen spots. But it's still worth a try if you're in the area.
Came because it had the best ramen reviews for Bakersfield. It did not disappoint. I got the spicy tonkotsu with a lot of add ons: Tantan pork, garlic, tofu, kimchi. Tho if you're expecting a lot of heat, this isn't it. It had a very small kick of spice. The gyozas were alright. The presentation was super pleasing. The sauce didn't really do it for me but the texture of the qyozas were good. Green tea ice cream didn't have a lot of green tea flavor but was still good. I loved the little umbrella! I thoroughly enjoyed this ramen! A big thank you to Ritchie who helped me figure out what I wanted. You were super helpful and funny. Thanks for making my first experience a good one. As I left, the staff shouted "see you tomorrow" and I laughed the whole way back to my car. I WILL be back... but not tomorrow haha.
This review is based on a to-go order. I phoned in a to-go order, the staff were so friendly over the phone. My order was made promptly and packaged super well for the drive home. The ramen was packaged separately to keep all items fresh and warm! The food was just as delicious as if it were being served in restaurant. Their hon ramen is ALWAYS a must!!
Came with a group of friends because we were feeling like having Ramen. This place definitely gets busy so you might have to wait for a table to open up. I would describe the vibe as pretty trendy. We had some ambient light, some EDM playlist was on, so I'd say it's fun with a group of friends. Seen some people on dates there too, just like casual. Servers were very nice and personable, but I think for how busy it gets, they are a bit short on staff! My waiter was really great and even made me a makeshift chopstick helper when I asked for a fork which is fun. Cool trick. They have a good variety on the menu. My friends ordered some spicy edamame for the table. I have a low spice tolerance so I didn't eat it, but I got some Karaage and it was awesome. It was super crispy and the sauce that comes with it is delicious. I'd go back just for that. The ramen was also really good. I got the veggie ramen. Tasty broth and good noodles. I do wish there was more tofu in it. You get like one square on the top and that's your slab of tofu. I'd like some more cut into it too, personally. My friend got the spicy veggie ramen and I think the overall consensus for the people who got spicy ramen is that they'd like theirs to be a bit spicier, so they got some more sauce--sriracha and chili oil both to make it a bit spicier. So if you like spicy, try that. I don't, so I was happy with what I got. This is a place I would come back to, for sure. It's pretty cute and the food's solid.

Itadakimasu! We have eaten at Hon Ramen several times and each time is a delight. On our first visit we tried takoyaki as an appetizer and were smitten. These are fried octopus balls with a delicate crispy shell and a creamy interior with perfectly cooked octopus. They are garnished with kewpie mayonnaise and eel sauce with delicate shaved fish dancing on top. This is the only place in town for takoyaki and it is exactly like takoyaki in Japan. This time we opted for the salmon rolls which have pillow soft steamed buns, perfectly cooked moist salmon, eel sauce, and sweet slivered carrot. They are light and delicious with an order of two making a wonderful appetizer for the both of us. My husband ordered the Bulgoji bowl with savory and tender beef atop sticky rice. It is beautifully seasoned and not spicy which I love because I can actually enjoy it. In general bulgoji is too spicy for me so this is a wonderful discovery. My choice of chicken Ramen was also a win as the broth is rich and savory and the noodles have a great firm bite. The bowl is dressed with rich and tender chicken thigh, a fish cake, broccoli, spring onion, slivered carrot, and a marinated soft boiled egg. Food and service are phenomenal...Hon Ramen is THE place to go in Bakersfield. The sushi here is also top notch and prepared by the owner. Once a year he returns to Japan to visit family so for that period sushi is not available. Everything we have ever tried here has been a feast for the eyes and the tastebuds. read more

One of my favorite ramen spots! The service is always great! I absolutely love the Spicy Tan Tan Men ramen. I also tried the vegetable egg rolls and spicy garlic edamame, and both were delicious. The restaurant is super cute and cozy, and they offer more than just ramen with sushi, wine, soju, and Asian beer on the menu. They do close briefly in the afternoon before reopening for dinner, but it's well worth the visit. I'll definitely be back! read more

I've been coming to this restaurant for many years, and whenever I'm craving this type of food, it usually always hits the spot. However, during my last visit, I noticed something that didn't sit right with me, and I just wanted to make others aware. The restaurant automatically adds an 18% gratuity for parties of five or more, including small children in the party count. While I understand restaurants have policies, what bothered me was that it wasn't verbally mentioned or clearly pointed out during our visit, which makes it very easy to overlook. If you pay by card, the receipt they bring you already includes the gratuity in the total. However, the signature slip still suggests additional tip amounts at the bottom, which can easily lead people to accidentally double tip without realizing it. I'm sharing this simply so people can pay attention before signing. In today's economy, every extra dollar matters for families dining out. And while some people may say, "If you can't afford to tip, don't eat out," the reality is that restaurants rely on customers to stay in business too. Transparency goes a long way, and I think customers should be clearly informed when gratuity has already been included. read more

Stopped by Hon Ramen on a Wednesday evening. It wasn't very busy and I was seated right away. The servers took my drink and food order quickly, though the process felt a bit rushed. I ordered hot water, karaage, and the spicy garlic miso ramen. The food came out fast (about 7-8 minutes). The karaage chicken was good, but the ramen itself didn't stand out as much as I expected. After the food was dropped off, no one checked back on the table. My hot water was never refilled and I wasn't asked if I needed anything else. The check was brought toward the end, and the only time I was asked how the food was came after I had already finished and paid. Overall, not a bad experience, but both the service and ramen could improve. Rating: 6.8/10 read more

First time here, it was absolutely delicious. The ramen has so much flavor, and the portions are very good. The sushi was 10/10. I got the Crouching Tiger Roll, and I'll most definitely get it again. My number one ramen place now. The service was also good, they're pretty fast. And the decor and lights make the place look unique. read more

Idk where to start. I've been looking for a great ramen place with actual good FLAVORFUL ramen and I found it!!!! The staff here was so welcoming and so friendly so i genuinely appreciate their help and kindness. I had the spicy garlic miso ramen and the karage chicken. I was BLOWN AWAY by the ramen. I couldn't eat it fast enough. It came out hot!!! (Temperature wise) the flavor was amazing I couldn't stop eating it even after I was full. I have a new favorite ramen place. We've seen this place plenty of times while driving downtown and today we finally parked and walked in. The place is tasteful decorated and offers a cozy intimate feeling for personal lunch or dinner date. The staff was very kind welcoming and helpful with understanding some of the menu items. I picked the Spicy Garlic Miso. This bowl arrived looking so pretty that it took me a minute before I decided to disturb the noodles. They offer a choice of a soft boil or hard boil egg and of course I got the soft boil. This Ramen was absolutely delicious, the broth had that familiar Miso taste but offerd a little kick from the spice and a gentle roasted garlic under taste. I loved that they weren't stingy with the green onions and that the pork pieces were so delicately thinly sliced that they melted right in with the Ramen while slurping the noodles up. I ordered an extra side of bean sprouts only because I like the fresh crunch in my Pho and thought its gotta be just as good in my bowl of Ramen. This for me will definitely be worth ordering a second time. My husband got the Spicy Tan Tan Men with an extra egg. His was topped with some shredded pork that was so tasty that to me had the tasted of a mix of BBQ and a teriyaki pork. Once he mixed the sesame paste into the broth it elevated the taste to that Ramen to like 10 other levels. These Ramen bowls were so tasty that they didn't need the squeeze of lime like we sometimes do with a bowl of Pho, they we spot on as is. If you're ever in the downtown area and looking for something delicious to eat, give Hon Ramen a try but just make sure you check their hours since they close at 2pm after lunch and reopen for dinner at 4pm. read more

Cute space... very clean and welcoming. Took a friend here for lunch and we enjoyed a delicious meal! Everything came out great and we couldn't even finish our meals because there was plenty of food. Today was our first time here. The restaurant was very nice inside and but very small. The wait staff was not very friendly from the get go. I chalked it up to maybe because it was busy and didn't say anything. We waited for a table and were seated fairly quickly but again the wait staff was not friendly. Seemed annoyed or in a hurry. I started to be annoyed but didn't say anything and ordered our food. The food came quick but during the entire time we were there we did not get any refills or staff to come back and check on us. So basically got our food and that was it. The roll was very good. The Hon Ramen had better flavor to me than the spicy ramen. Overall the food was good but not great. When I received my bill, I looked at it and saw they charged me an 18 percent gratuity tax because there was 5 ppl in our party. My 3 year old who didn't even order anything was our 5th person and for that we got charged 18 percent gratuity tax which I did not agree with. We didn't even receive service in my opinion because after we ordered and received our food they never came bak other than to bring me a bill. I will not be returning here. Yep this hit the spot for sure. First time trying Hon Ramen! I usually make my own ramen at home but I realized I've never tried any ramen places in town so now I'm out and about!! I was super excited to try their ramen as all my friends highly recommended this place. I got the spicy tonkotsu ramen! It was DELICIOUS. I was just satisfied all around. The broth was yummy, the meat was amazing, and all the veggies were just *chefs kiss*. And a huge thank you to our server Ritchie! A great and super chill server who would also tell jokes too and it just made the atmosphere of the environment more relaxing. read more

It was not spicy but it did have a lot of flavor and good ramen , ill be coming back to try more ramen . The noodles were at the right texture soft but not hard. I have ate sushi all across California, Washington and Colorado and I really think Hon Ramen sushi is the top tier and is able to compare to the finest in those cities. Their servers are always friendly and fast. They have great Asian beer and sake choices. I am all about their octopus balls!!! I always get them for an appetizer (6 pieces) and tell myself to not eat all of them then fail every time! I will admit I think their dinning area is too small and not always so comfortable but they are located conveniently downtown. They always are able to provide lunch service in a timely fashion and parking is pretty easy to find. Their prices are reasonable and have not surged in the current inflation times. I love the vibes they give with their DJ music they play on their TV screens. Their restaurant always seems clean and it is always completely odorless (very important for a sushi place). I always look forward to eating there. read more

Omg what a hidden gem in downtown Bakersfield!! I had the Spicy TanTan Men Ramen and it was so full of flavor! The spice heat was just right to me...spicy but with all the flavor coming through still. The wait staff are really sweet and obviously the chefs are doing an awesome job because the place was packed on a Wednesday night. Chef kisses to you guys...you're doin it right! read more
Met my gf up for lunch here. Wasn't so busy during lunch and got our orders quick. Got Jalopeno bombs and karage for appetizers. The karage was soo good! Ordered the Tantanmen and added pork and bamboo shoots. Overall pretty good! Nothing bad to say about this place. read more

So as soon as you walk In you're greeted! It's gets busy so fast! They're playing KPOP and it's not too loud. Their menu is pretty big, but we were a big group! We got 4 ramens and the broth is milky it's so good! The meat is a bit sweet, and it's just so soft and tender.. One thing is that it's not super spicy and you have to pay extra for more spicy but it's still not spicy enough. I asked for chili oil... but only got oil... and I would have to pay extra for the actual one, a little dissatisfying! Especially since I like my sushi with a bit of spice. I'd love to come back and try some different items! read more
