I can't believe I have not been to this place. We were invited to here for a birthday and thought it was a new restaurant. The ambiance of the place is great and Asian decors on point. I love the koi pond, i think it was a great addition to the restaurant. The price for the teppanyaki meats though were pricey but it tasted really good. I wasn't able to try the sushi though. It was an enjoyable experience. I recommend this place- it's a great restaurant to bring your visitors in town or just celebrating with family or friends.

Food is amazing I loved the Gyoza! Thomas and the service was great. The koi fish, lighting and cooks makes such a fun place for a date night!

This was our first time at Tokyo Garden and were pleasantly impressed. The koi pond at the entrance is a very nice touch. We didn't have a reservation, but were accommodated. The ladies are very friendly and are also very funny/ playful. I wasn't expecting that at all. My husband and I shared a Ny steak and chicken Teppanyaki and my son got a sushi roll called "The Thing". The cook was also very funny and got our table to sing happy birthday for our son. There was a charge for sharing a plate, which was expected, but overall it was reasonably priced. Food was good, service was good, We'd definitely come back.

We are here for a birthday celebration this evening, so what is more fun than Teppanyaki for a crowd! James was our chef this evening. He was entertaining and a lot of fun & cooked us a great meal. The food here is always fresh and delicious. You have the choice of Teppanyaki dining, sushi or ordering off the menu. They have a lovely setting with a Koi pond as you enter. A very small sushi bar and table dining if you aren't in the mood for the Teppanyaki table. Very family friendly as well. They have been providing delicious meals in this location for many years. Come try them out.

Such a fun tepanyaki experience! We called in early before coming in to see if there was a spot for the tepanyaki table and glad there was! Our chef was great at entertaining us and did so many cool tricks! The food, especially the scallops, were delicious. Would love to come back again!!

We recently went to Tokyo Garden to celebrate a birthday party. I feel like the service was very rushed and they kept trying to get us out of there. The Teppanyaki was some what bland and wasn't packing as much flavor as you would hope for out of a 40 dollar plate. I will say, the fried rice was delicious and just the right amount of crispy. The sushi rolls were also fantastic! They were both so flavorful and well balanced. Hana Fuji Apple sake was phenomenal and paired well with the sushi rolls. If you're coming for sushi it's an excellent place, but if you're going for teppanyaki there's better places in town!

What a show. It was my first time visiting Tokyo Garden on a Friday Night. We had a 7pm reservation for Teppanyaki, but we were not seated until about 7:15. There was a line out the door. We were attended to promptly once seated. The Teppanyaki Chef put on a great show, and the food all had excellent flavor. The portion size was just ok, considering the price tag of 30 dollars per plate. My wife had Salmon Teriyaki, the presentation was nice, but again, the portion size was just ok.

Had my birthday celebration yesterday with a large group and this is our families go to when celebrating birthdays! Love the koi pond in the front entrance! I ordered the scallop and chicken teppanyaki meal. The chef who cooked for us was very entertaining and promptly gave me a birthday wish. Staff was very attentive and constantly refreshing drinks throughout meal. The fried rice was cooked to perfection with a delicious sesame flavor. The scallops were seasoned perfectly and were buttery soft. The chicken was delicious with the sauce the chef prepared. Best Teppanyaki in town! Bakersfield classic staple!

We shared the garlic edamame which was my absolute favorite and the best edamame I had ever tasted whatever seasonings with the generous amount of garlic was just heavenly. If you like edamame you should love this one you won't be disappointed. I could literally have a bowl of this and a couple of Stella Artois for dinner and have the best night ever. We also shared the bulgogi bento box as well as two rolls, one being the lobster roll the other one being a spicy flaming roll which of course I forgot the name of but either way the ingredients were very fresh the roles were both full of ingredients and everything in the Bento Box, the fried rice the salad & the Bulgogi was tender, all were all tasty and reminiscent of a another restaurant in Bakersfield that is usually my Bento Box go-to. JIn Sushi could absolutely be my most favorite sushi place in Bakersfield if they fix a couple of little things It's only two problems I had with this place one was the seating issue, that they created when we first walked in I had a reservation and waited 25 minutes to be seated I only knew it was an issue because I talked to the lady behind me who had a appointment 15 minutes after mine with three friends and was seated before me, the whole process seemed unorganized and the young lady running it seem to be stressed trying to get it right. The next issue was me reading the health score violations during my extra 25 minute wait and trying to avoid any of the foods that were listed. Something I probably wouldn't have seen if I didn't have to wait 25 mins. after my reservation well researching any complaints about wait times. If management gets the seating issue corrected, and place up front who will stay up front and take command of the seating, keeping track of who comes in with reservations I think this would have been a overall better experience. However we will definitely try again.

However, during my last visit, I noticed something that didn't sit right with me, and I just wanted to make others aware. The restaurant automatically adds an 18% gratuity for parties of five or more, including small children in the party count. While I understand restaurants have policies, what bothered me was that it wasn't verbally mentioned or clearly pointed out during our visit, which makes it very easy to overlook. If you pay by card, the receipt they bring you already includes the gratuity in the total. However, the signature slip still suggests additional tip amounts at the bottom, which can easily lead people to accidentally double tip without realizing it. I'm sharing this simply so people can pay attention before signing. In today's economy, every extra dollar matters for families dining out. And while some people may say, "If you can't afford to tip, don't eat out," the reality is that restaurants rely on customers to stay in business too. Transparency goes a long way, and I think customers should be clearly informed when gratuity has already been included.

Instead, I'm paying premium prices to sit under fluorescent lights and question my life choices. The "Combo" Math that Isn't Mathing Then there's the pricing logic--or lack thereof. Why does a chicken and steak combo cost 20% more than the steak plate alone? * Standard Logic: A combo price should land somewhere between the cost of the chicken and the steak. * Kyoto Logic: "Since you want both, we're going to tax your indecisiveness." Either they have zero respect for their customers, or they're catastrophically bad at math. I'm betting on the latter. Honestly, I could buy a Blackstone grill for the cost of three or four visits to this place. The "Service" (If You Can Call It That) To top it off, the customer service is abysmal. The staff acts personally offended by your very existence. Even the older gentleman--who I assume is the owner--is the worst of the bunch. He radiates a vibe that says, "I hope you choke on that brown rice." Final Verdict: This is the last time they get a dime from me. I'm taking my business to my backyard.
