Great selections and good service! Got take out and everything was prepared quickly. Will be back to sample more rolls soon.

Seeweed salad, Red Bull roll, large Sapporo beer, hot small sake

Feeling so glad that I decided to give another local restaurant a chance because it did not disappoint. The Red Bull roll was an explosion of flavor in my mouth and it had just the perfect amount of spicy so that I could feel the kick! The seaweed salad was also very tasty and the porcion was perfect for the price. Overall, I reccomend you come and give SushiKo a chance and treat yourself!

Today I visited Sushiko with my sister during our lunch break, hoping to enjoy some sushi. Unfortunately, our experience was far from what we expected. After over an hour of waiting, we asked how long until our food would arrive. The server said it would be 15 minutes. Thirty minutes later, I inquired again, asking if she could bag our food to go and how much longer it would be. That's when we were told that the printer hadn't printed our order, and it would be another 10 minutes. I would understand if they are busy, the other table of two had gotten their food before we sat down. We were the only other people seating in the restaurant. They take way tooo long, I don't recommend it. Frustrated and on a tight schedule, we decided to cancel our order, as we simply didn't have time to wait any longer. What made the situation worse was the server's sarcastic remark wishing us a good day as we left. It's disheartening to encounter such poor service, especially when you're looking forward to a meal. We ended up having to return to work on an empty stomach, which was incredibly disappointing. I can't recommend this place based on my experience.

"Hot lady"

What a gem. Sushiko sushi is worth the price point, because of its high quality food, presentation and taste. Not to mention two sashimi like rolls (no rice; fish wrapped), one of which I sampled; "Hot lady", which was a whole new approach to my sushi eating experience and was fantastic. The "playboy" was delicious. The ambience is mellow, clean and has a club-like feel. My waitress, Michelle, was kind, attentive and gave wonderful suggestions. I will definitely look forward to treating myself to Sushiko again.

Dancing spicy salmon

It was dead inside I don't know why, the food was delicious, service was excellent. Ordered the dancing spicy salmon and miso, both very good meals. The server was attentive and very kind. It was a little dark in there so when I walked out my eyes hurt lol but that's fine too.

The Amount Paid Disappointing!!!

I didn't expect paying $16.95. I can't even feed two to four people with what I got. I won't suggest buying fried rice from here my first time and last time. I love their seaweed salad, though. I thought to try other food. Really outrageous price for the amount of food receive. Very disappointed.

Yum in the tum! We were supposed to eat at Tokyo Garden tonight for Teppanyaki, but something happened with our reservation. So, since the girls really only wanted sushi, we decided to give this place a try. The "A" rating in the window assured us that this place would at least pass our health code expectations as far as food safety and food handling! The service was fast and efficient. The atmosphere was clean, friendly, and soothing with the low dimmed lights! The food tasted fresh with a great presentation! Will definitely be going back!

yellowtail + salmon

3.5 stars The last time I was in Bakersfield, my friend and I grabbed an early dinner on Sunday night at Sushi Ko. The restaurant was empty, but I noticed several customers coming in to pick up their to go orders. My friend and I shared the following: -yellowtail nigiri ($5.50 for 2 pieces) -salmon nigiri ($4.50 for 2 pieces) -spicy tuna salad ($14.95): sliced tuna sashimi in spicy sauce -rainbow roll ($13.99): California roll topped with 4 types of fish + avo -crazy dream roll ($13.99): crab, avocado, cucumber (inside), topped with baked salmon I thought the yellowtail and salmon nigiri were great - both were melt in your mouth good. The salmon piece inched a little on the larger scale which made it suspect, but nonetheless, no complaints here. Both the rainbow and baked salmon rolls were adequately good - basic rolls I've had at other sushi establishments, but here, nothing really stood out about the rolls. The baked salmon roll was good but unmemorable. I felt like the fish stretched out just enough to cover the rolls, with nothing more to add. The spicy tuna salad was generous in portion, however, I was not expecting spicy tuna in poke form. A generous heap of poke topped the salad, which I thought was interesting. The salad itself doesn't come with dressing, so we had to ask for an additional side of dressing otherwise the salad was too dry on its own. Bits of the tuna were too sinewy for my preference, so for the most part, I stuck to eating just the salad. Well, sushi does exist in Bakersfield, but determining the best one with the freshest fish and best sushi roll concoctions? Who knows. Up to you to decide.

Udon soup and Lobster Hills

Had dinner last night with a couple of friends. The restaurant itself isn't very inviting. The front doesn't look like much (dirty windows and minimal signage) and when you go inside it's pretty dark. It was also warm inside. It was a pretty hot day outside and it didn't seem like the air conditioner worked very well. All three of us were sweating. I was greeted right away and seated to wait for my friends. The waitress was very attentive. My friends each had a Bento box which they enjoyed. I had the Udon soup and the Lobster Hills. I really enjoyed both. Had to take a lot of food home with me because the portions were pretty ample. So the nearly $50 I spent on my dinner and drinks will actually be two meals. The soup was delicious, somewhat spicy, contained thick noodles, mushrooms onions and the broth was just amazing! The Lobster Hills was also very good. The only complaint I have is that it was a baked roll so the top of the dish was hot as if it had been baked for a little bit but the rolls underneath the Langostino were cold. It was quite tasty though. My first time having Langostino and it really does taste like lobster. Honestly I'd like this place because the food was good but the atmosphere wasn't very comfortable.

We had the Bakersfield roll, golden salmon, soft shell crab (forgot the name) and ex girlfriend roll. All the rolls were delicious and cooked to our liking. The rice was unexpectedly delicious. You don't go out expecting to have rice this good! I just wish there was a sashimi menu.

We were seating at a regular table, but still able to order the teppan items. It was just made to order and served entrée style inside of the whole experience you would probably get at dinner time. I ordered the 5oz New York Steak ($29) lunch teppan meal and it comes with fried rice, assorted veggies and miso soup. The food was prepared in a timely manner and my steak was cooked to the medium temp I ordered. It was super tasty and flavorful, but definitely on the heavy and oily side. The portion was large enough that I had leftovers for a subsequent meal. My coworkers who had chicken and shrimp versions of the experience also enjoyed their meals. Just to level set for expectations on the portion size. The gents finished their food, and the ladies had enough to take togo. Overall it is a splurge for a lunch but a good deal for teppan. Not something I would frequent because the nature of teppan can be oily and heavy, but I wouldn't mind coming back when my coworkers are in the mood for some teppan.

Sadly, they aren't allowed to do throw any food, which makes the teppanyaki a lil less fun but food was great. Surf n turf roll is perfect for those who aren't big sushi fans like my boyfriend. The red wine reduction was soo yummy.

Instead, I'm paying premium prices to sit under fluorescent lights and question my life choices. The "Combo" Math that Isn't Mathing Then there's the pricing logic--or lack thereof. Why does a chicken and steak combo cost 20% more than the steak plate alone? * Standard Logic: A combo price should land somewhere between the cost of the chicken and the steak. * Kyoto Logic: "Since you want both, we're going to tax your indecisiveness." Either they have zero respect for their customers, or they're catastrophically bad at math. I'm betting on the latter. Honestly, I could buy a Blackstone grill for the cost of three or four visits to this place. The "Service" (If You Can Call It That) To top it off, the customer service is abysmal. The staff acts personally offended by your very existence. Even the older gentleman--who I assume is the owner--is the worst of the bunch. He radiates a vibe that says, "I hope you choke on that brown rice." Final Verdict: This is the last time they get a dime from me. I'm taking my business to my backyard.

We dined in, and I was so happy they got the full Kura experience. My brother had fun with the conveyor belt--he loved grabbing plates as they passed by, and I got to introduce him to some of my go-to favorites like the crunchy hand roll with soy paper (he had no idea the "wrapper" was edible until I casually ate the whole thing haha). He was really into trying new things too such as eel, octopus, even conch--and ended up loving the sushi overall. My little sister was mostly there for the vibes, but honestly, Kura delivers on that too. They're both huge anime fans, so they were excited to see the Jujutsu Kaisen collab prizes, and we won some prizes after turning in our plates! Between that, the fun ordering system, and the robot bringing out our drinks, it made the whole experience feel interactive and memorable. Service was solid, and I really appreciated how kind and helpful our waitress was--especially when we had trouble applying my coupons and she still honored them without any issues. It ended up being such a fun birthday outing, and I'm so glad I got to share one of my favorite restaurants with my siblings. My brother is already asking when I'm visiting again so we can go back! If you're in Bakersfield and want something fun, different, and delicious, Kura is always a good time.
