I was such a supporter of this local business. I remembered how I would have dinner , sit at the bar, and jist with the sushi makers while I have my FAVORITE meal combination. My usual is the sashimi salad with a side of Tofu Steak or the Baked Muscles. It's the perfect meal for one. Usually, it's so filling that I'd take leftovers and have it 2 later for my next meal. Over the years, the quality changed.. portions changed while prices went up. I hate writing unfavorable reviews, but today, I'm compelled to do so. I went to have lunch with my mom and we ordered our food. Service was ok. I had to ask and ask for more beverages, and at one point, she forgot I asked for lemons. Honestly, it's nothing to cause being upset.. but what got me unsettled was the oddly placed dirty paper towel in my poorly proportioned sashimi salad . When I showed them, they explained that it's a clean paper towel in my salad. It was like it was supposed to be there. Has anyone else experienced this? Is this a norm, and I'm making a spectacle on something that's socially acceptable? I've never had, obviously visual, dirty towels/napkins in my food and the place of establishment, making me feel like this is a normal occurrence. My bottom line... I doubt I'll come here again on my own will or choice. I doubt this will continue to be my "go-to" place for sushi. I've been going here since they opened. Seeing that in my food really grossed me out. How do I know, or would they tell me the truth, that they used that same towel to wipe the counters down? The fact that they didn't give me compassion showed me they didn't Really care for me as a customer. We couldn't get out of there fast enough. It's not even worth eating out anymore. I took a bite of where the fork is of the bulgogi before I took the photo. But you can still see how skimpy the serving is. It hardly even covered the bottom of the to-go tray. Maybe I'll have Love Sushi again when the restaurant can afford to fill the plate without raising the prices even more. Chicken teriyaki had a nasty smell and taste . Shrimp on roll was burnt. Service was bad. They didn't take the time to ask how the food was or if the food was good. When I told them about my burn shrimp they got upset and didn't even apologize for it. I don't not recommend it. Ok so.... Here's how it started only three tables with a total of 14 people in the whole place one being a toddler. We started off ok and got out the appetizer and informed out server we would be ready to order in a few minutes.... Well we had to flag her down to place out order. We went ahead placed our order and I decided to try a soup instead of sushi since sushi is their main dish to go too. So it was about 25 minutes in and everyone on the table got their sushi and no soup anywhere in sight. At this point there is 3 servers and no one has bothered to see if my soup is ready and we have not even had one refill. Again we flag her down to cancel my soup and beg for a refill. Needless to say I'm sympathetic when it's a full house or the odds against the waiter but not today. I will NEVER give business to someone who does not appreciate or attend to their customers. Been a huge fan of Love Sushi and was happy that a location opened in SW Bakersfield. Went with family and my smallest toddler started fussing and a waitress came over and offered a lollipop and was incredibly sweet with my toddler. Much appreciated! We started the meal off with Baked Green Mussels and Monkey Brain (deep fried mushroom w/crab meat and spicy tuna). Both are my favorite appetizers and incredibly delicious! We ordered multiple rolls, the jin roll, 911 Roll, Baked Salmon Roll, Panama Roll, and a California roll. All rolls were incredibly delicious and highly recommend the Jin roll. The sauce they serve over the Jin roll is like no other. 911 Roll is another favorite and if you a spicy fan this is your roll. The Panama roll was tempura based and was a nice subtle tasting roll. My sons LOVED the California roll and the piece I had was full of imitation crab and was delicious! This is a great sushi spot that has more of a relaxed family vibe. Thank you! read more

Horrible customer service. I get it was Valentine's Day, but my goodness! We waited 15 minutes for setting, great. We ordered. There were maybe 6 tables occupied and pick-up orders were booming and coming out quick! Yet, I waited over one hour before I asked my white a second time how long until my order would be out. She said shortly. I asked again and asked if it hadn't been started to please cancel and give me the check. She comes back 10 minutes later and said it's still going to be a while because they are behind on orders.. again, pick up orders were coming out non stop. Not once before I asked did she mention they were behind. I canceled the order and picked up Happy Dragon on Panama Ln! Way better experience there. I don't recommend love sushi on Panama. I had hoped to order 2 rolls for lunch, but wowza those prices are out of reach! So I tried to order a roll, but couldn't find one that would work for my dietary needs & preferences. I can't eat fake crab. At sushi restaurants I request "no crab" (or to use real crab). But Love Sushi doesn't seem to do substitutions or changes very well - they said the insides of the roll are already pre-mixed. So if the inside of the roll has spicy tuna, crab, and shrimp, apparently the 3 are already pre-mixed so they can't leave out just the crab. It doesn't make sense to me. Perhaps it's a language barrier? To be safe, I ordered a Hawaiian Poki Salad. I suppose you never quite know what you're getting with that as the name. But I sure wasn't expecting a ton of mixed greens with just some cubes of tuna (and negligible other things sprinkled in). Truly, it tasted good (because of the sauces). But for the price, I would have liked to feel like I was eating substantially more than just a green salad with tuna on top. Overall, my food tasted good and the people I spoke with were nice; but the price is too high, and it's too difficult to customize a roll to a dietary need. read more

They have a large variety of different styles of sushi to choose from I ordered a spicy Tuna roll with a large hot Saki. The Saki was very fresh and the perfect temperature. When she was finished asking what we wanted to drink, I asked her "Do you know why I take my wife out to eat?" She replied she did not. I told her it is for service, I pay to be served, and I would like some Ginger while waiting for our order. Ten minutes later she shows up with the weirdest tasting Ice Tea and some terrible ginger. The food was brought over by the preparer and he was nice. I looked at on of the saddest Rainbow Roll I have seen in a long time. Not only was it funky, there was some kind of vinegar based liquid poured all over it, which made it all kind of taste the same and that same was baaaaad! Real bad. I drove all the way across town from the City in the Hills area to eat at this particular Love Sushi, because I was told by friends that it was good. There are several other closer sushi restaurants much closer to my home, including another Love's located on Mount Vernon Avenue, however I decided to make the trip here. When I arrived, I walked in and it was nice and cool inside, but I needed to go to the restroom and wash my hands. I looked around and couldn't see a restroom sign so I asked politely where the bathroom was. The tall middle aged chef behind the counter asked me what? I said, I'm looking for the restroom. To which he asked if I had a to go order, and I said no, I just wanted to wash my hands. He said the restrooms were for customers only. I said I just drove a long way to get here and I'd like to wash my hands before eating, don't you wash your hands before you eat? He didn't even point to it, but at that time I saw it behind the counter and to the right. When I finished and came out a hostess sat me down at a table and gave me a menu. As I was looking at it the same chef was staring at me, so I got up and left. He followed out of the restaurant and accused me of being rude. I told him that he was the rude one and any customer should be allowed to wash their hands without question. Everything looks amazing ad pictures very well. The rolls we got were so big and had a lot of rice. Every bite was so big you couldn't fit it in your mouth. You end up with so much food in one bite the mixes off and doesn't taste right. Some pieces had so much rice it over powered the flavor of the other ingredients. I've been to several love sushi's and I will say they are very consistent with their menu items. I always enjoy their food and I did today as well. I ordered the poke plate, crunch roll, salmon baked roll and blooming onion roll. All were amazing and I feel guilty cause I'm about to complain about eye size of the rolls. They are soooo big that it's impossible to get the entire piece in your mouth. Which an entire piece should be easy to eat, but it's not so the piece falls apart and makes a big mess. Ordered over the phone for three rolls and edamame, server said it would be 20 minutes. On the phone asked for the pannko bread crumbs and said alright. After an HOUR wait for our food, they were not added and going back in they wanted to charge and after stating we have been waiting so long for our food they couldn't even just give us a 2oz ramekin (which other locations do not even charge) to accommodate for the long wait, which in my experience of working in a restaurant we were very patient and polite compared to customers I have had to dealt with before.
