Caesars CAN be good, it's a Bakersfield classic, but don't expect to be blown away. I have ordered the Roma for over 20 years and you HAVE to get a side of meat sauce or it's just the driest sandwich ever. That being said, if you know how to order you can get a great meal out of this place. The sides are great but very small so pay attention to what size side you are ordering. The olives and ranch pasta are my go tos. The fountain is nice to sit next to on a nice day. Word of warning though.... Don't do their take and bake lasagna, it's awful my family literally wouldn't eat it. read more

I am scared and very much disappointed as I write this review. scared that Cesar's is going downhill and disappointed in some things. First the sandwiches were great as usual so that's great. They forgot 2 things with my pick up order and had to go back again. That is flat out annoying. I did not notice the vinegar and oil was not in the sandwich bag and refused to go back for that. We specially asked if they had included it. the WORST was the broccoli salad was horrible. I threw it again. 1 lb of it. Gross and old. The ranch pasta was just ok - normally it is amazing. Yikes....tonight I'm sure the business profited but the customers were failed. This wasn't my first experience at Caesar's and I'll say the food isn't bad, it's probably a solid 3 stars. Tonight thought my God did management/owners fail. I put in my catering order 5 days ago for tonight for Christmas Eve dinner. We ordered Ravioli, Penne, Lasagna, and Salad. I set my pickup time for 2:30pm and arrived at 2:20pm. The line was out the door, wrapped around the fountain and was headed down towards other businesses. They had accepted so many order that by the time I got my order handed to me it was 3:41pm, over an hour after my pickup time. The excuse was that they got over 100 orders today and they were very behind. If you know you can't handle that many orders it's possible to just stop accepting them...but profit over people is the name of the game. The pesto ravioli tin wasn't sealed correctly which caused it to leak all over me as I carried it to my car. There were still people waiting as I left, anyone that ordered cold lasagna to cook at home could expect at least another 20-30 minute wait as they were "so behind." I've never seen a business face-plant so hard because they overbooked themselves to this extreme, I hope they learn something from this experience and apply fixes next year to prevent it. read more

Literally everybody at the wedding complimented on the food and asked where it came from. People had 2nds, 3rds, probably 4ths and I still have a weeks worth of food leftover! Food is always delicious. On most recent visit, my wife got a Caesar's Special and I went with the pickled tongue with pepper jack cheese. The Special is my wife's go to and, as usual, she was not disappointed. As for me, I love pickled tongue and it is not found in other sandwich shops in town. I get my hair done next door and I was starving so I went in and ordered a turkey sandwich. OMG I totally forgot how wonderful this place is!! Soft sesame roll just the right amount of mayo, turkey, lettuce and peppers. I read in previous reviews about too much ice in the drinks, so now they ask if you want a lot or a little ice. Good looking out in reading your reviews. After getting my hair done I picked up my husband a pickled tongue sandwich, clam chowder and I grabbed me a small broccoli salad to finish up my sandwich. Well hubby raved about his sandwich!!! I took a bite, yes it was absolutely amazing, the tongue was perfect. Also served on a soft sesame roll. We catered our wedding through caesar's and I am now a caesar's customer for life. To start, the service we experienced when doing our tasting blew us away. We decided to schedule a tasting with them because they were super transparent with their pricing online, and we had done smaller catering orders through them for holidays and loved it. We had two other tastings in town with companies who were highly recommended (also double or triple the price) and nothing compared to the experience we had with Caesar's. They did cocktail hour appetizers and a full dinner service. The food was so amazing, and all of our guests made it a point to tell us how much they loved the dinner! Usually this location has stellar customer service, today one of the busiest days of the year for carry out (Super Bowl) the customer service was terrible and the 2 there acted like they hated their job. No thank you no have a nice day NOTHING. I placed my order 2 days ago the girl who took the order asked what time I would like to pick up I stated 1pm, no mention of we close at 12 on Sunday. Got a phone call at 12:40 stating we close in 20 minutes. I arrive and told them I was not told and had to fly across town she said well we closed at 12 and stayed open..... ummmm I'm sorry for the inconvenience of you having to work today. Another great little gem tucked away inside a shopping center. They have clean almost rustic interior. A big deli style glass counter where you can see all of their fresh meats stacked on display. Prices are pretty good too! I ordered a hot pastrami (it was that or the lasagna). The sandwich was great, had all the fixins' and was filling without being too big as too stuff me. clerk used her bare hands to handle my dinner rolls, I had never been to this place before, I purchased a meal thru a fund raise, so this morning I picked it up, when I walked in, there was a customer in front of me, when the clerk took my name she put my order together, then she placed the bag on the side, she grabbed the rolls put them in the bag, then picked them up again and wrapped in plastic wrap, I did not say anything because there were about 3 customers in line, and did not want to cause a scene, as soon as I got to the parking lot in my car. I called and spoke to manager Anthony, and explained to him the situation, instead of him wanting to give me untouched rolls, all he said is that the clerk should have not used her bear hands and that he would speak to her about it. So much for customer service at this point I didn't want to try and get new rolls, so disappointing. read more

I like sandwiches a lot. I previously frequented the other Caesar's Deli downtown until it closed. With a gift certificate in my pocket and armed with the Eat24 app I was uber prepared to eat a sandwich. Ordering was a breeze with the app. The only confusion was that they will add an additional 1.75 to your order if you want a side and a drink. The sides are pretty small (think, ranch cup small) so order wisely. I ordered one of my favorites, the Caesar's special. Loaded with meats including two different kinds of salami, ham, mortadella, pepper cheese, lettuce, peppers and a "special sauce" it's hands-down clear winner for me. For the price, the meat and cheese are worth it alone. It's big, thick, and filling. The bread is always fresh, fluffy, and lights. I've heard great things about the pickled tongue, too. Not being a big fan I personally have not tried it. But if you're into that, go for it. In addition to their awesome sandwiches are some great house-made sides like their stuffed peppadews. If you aren't familiar with peppadews they are sweet, short, and fat red peppers. Like tiny little red bell peppers. They often come brined or in olive oil, but Caesar's goes the extra mile and stuffs them full of this goat cheese mixture. It's sweet, salty, creamy, and delicious. It's one of my absolute favorite snacks! Service was speedy, especially with using the Eat24 app. If you're ordering a warm sandwich, it's advisable to call it in to get a better idea of the wait. No one likes a cold (previously warmed) sandwich! Definitely be on the lookout for Groupon's, and other discounts out and about! read more

Let me first say, family has been going to this deli for generations, it first started at their original location. That said- today on Christmas Eve day at 1pm we were to pick up our PREPAID deli order, easy breezy, right? Nope Prolly 100 people in line, getting longer by the second. The line first cris crossed itself inside, out the door and around the fountain. There was no order and lots of confusion. I only counted maybe 4 people working. One person on pickup orders, one person at walk in- who get this- the walk in line you only had to wait about 15 minutes. Go figure?! Today was poor management by far. They knew there would be hundreds of orders and had a very limited staff with orders. This is very bad. You do the math, 2 min per person x 100 people in line = headache. Plus no one to direct people. Side note, I had waited 45 minutes in line, prolly 15 min to the front. But I had a mini medical emergency and had to step out of line. (I know, who would do such a thing, but I literally thought I would faint. So I had to step out and sit down). My brother met me 15 min later and had to start at the back of the line, well over an hour it took him because he wasn't going to cut back in line as the people would have been furious with him. I don't know what has happened with this place. Used to be fast, pleasant, good. Today, I've had it. I've had multiple bad experiences in the last 6-8mths. They have been slow and rude. I ordered 3 cold sandwiches today from a girl that never made eye contact or a smile, and looked completely miserable. That's okay but after 20mins of waiting with my toddler and infant, I asked if my sandwiches were ready. Another girl kindly went to the back. Fantastic service!!! I am so impressed with the staff standing up to patrons who either can't read or can't follow public health and safety guidelines!!! Of course the food is consistently good, but I was grateful and in awe of the sweet employees who stood up to two grown men who could not be bothered to wear masks. Came in today I was presently surprised at 12:00 pm that they were not busy. I ordered 2 Tongue Sandwiches, 2 separate 1 pound containers of tongue and a Tuscan hot sandwich. The Tongue Sandwich's were good but the bottom slice of my buns were very soggy along with the lettuce. Then when looking in my order they forgot one of the pounds of tongue. This happens but when business is slow. Things like this shouldn't happen. Which they fixed when I told them. But my main issue lies with the Tuscan sandwich. When I went to eat it. It had 1 slice of deli sliced style chicken. I really expected more. Like a piece of actual breast. What a bummer. I have frequented the Caesars number 2 off Wible for years. But with moving to Rosedale. I thought I'd try this one. For a grand total of 66.00. I was let down. I'll be traveling across town. Next time I want Tongue. You know the feeling when you crave a food so bad that you just have to have it? Well, I had a craving for pickled tongue!! Pickled tongue?? Yup, pickled tongue! Not many places carry this particular item. I always go to a Basque restaurant for pickled tongue. This time I decided to go to Caesars Italian Delicatessen. Remembered that they have Pickled Tongue sandwich on their menu. Was my first time stepping into their establishment. Have tried their Ravioli at parties, and I am a fan of their yummy Ravioli!! Almost changed my mind when looking at their menu. They have lots of sandwich choices. Will be trying more in the future. Hmm.....hmmm...good!!! Pickled tongue is an acquired taste for most folks. Well, I acquired the taste for it. Caesars version did not disappoint. It was one delicious flavorful sandwich! Had a slice of Tiramisu for dessert. So I have lived in Bakersfield practically my whole life and I never came to Caesar's and now I'm slapping myself across the face because I've been missing out on some delicious sandwiches. This place is an institution since 1971 and this is the newest location in town. The restaurant is small, but inviting and is very clean. I liked the whole set up and was reminded of a picnic! I walked in and was greeted and saw several folks eating lunch and it definitely looked good! I ordered the Caesar's Special which comes with 2 types of salami, mortadella, cheese, lettuce, yellow pepperocinis, and special house sauce. I also made it a combo and ordered Italian pasta with a drink. I got my sandwich in less 10 minutes and was pleasantly surprised to see how much meat you get! The sandwich isn't enormous, but it's definitely a good size and just packed with meat. I bit into the sandwich and loved it! The cold cuts here are of the highest quality and definitely rank up there with some of the best I've had in Italian-style sandwich. I also ordered the Combo sandwich which comes with Pastrami, Roast Beef, Pickled tongue, lettuce, and mustard. Once again, this was packed with meat again! Although the star of that sandwich was the pickled tongue. Wow! It's delicious and is some of the best I've had and the sandwich is only $7.25!!! I was blown away with the quality of the meat here! The roast beef was great, however the Pastrami was a bit bland, but the other two meats definitely helped out! I now know where to get a fantastic pickled tongue sandwich that won't break the bank! I will definitely have to check out other sandwiches like the meatball sub and the Venice, which is a ham sandwich. I was also shocked that they sell glasses of house wine for only $3 and domestic and imported bottles of beer are only $2 and $3, respectively! Those are happy hour prices and maybe even better! They also cater for events and sell their pastas in the fridge if you want to take them home. My only caveat I had was that the combo sandwich (I took it home) was that it was a little dry and for my taste needed and needed more mayo and pepperocinis. I did that when I got home and wow, what a difference. The extra mayo helped bring out the flavors in the roast beef and Pastrami since the pickled tongue didn't really need it because it's already moist from the pickling. Anyway, that's a suggestion from me to the management! Add more mayo and pepperocinis to the combo sandwich and it's a knockout! I was very pleasantly surprised by this little deli. I am still kicking myself for never having been here, but I will definitely be a regular here now! This place is not expensive at all as my sandwiches were only $7 and $7.25 and are a great size and packed with meat! This place is charming and you will experience great food and service!
