Cannot overstate how happy I am that this bakery opened in Montebello. Their Ube delicacies here are amazing and the owner is a great person who's willing to explain what she has to offer. I have tried all the best spots in LA offering Ube desserts and this place has blown me away every time. Reached out to ButterLab Monday morning for a last minute birthday cake, Annie was amazing she was able to accommodate our needs and went above and beyond in such a short notice. What a delight to have this bakery in my hometown! The mixed berries tres leches had just the right amount of sweetness and the berries were a perfect touch. The ube brownies and cookies were ubelicious!! Can't get enough of that ube taste. We've also tried the pandan, matcha and thai tea cookies. They each have a balanced taste of the cookie flavor and sweetness and super fresh. Today I had the iced cafe de olla latte and was pleasantly surprised with a great tasting flavorful drink. We also had the banana walnut little cake and it was fresh, moist with a great banana flavor and lots of walnuts. I wish this bakery great success. Maybe they'll start offering an exquisite quiche or breakfast item on the weekends. I can't wait to have an excuse to order a large cake!! They should add some table and chairs:) read more

Went here to try their crinkle cookies! Sadly they didn't have the black sesame flavor available, but luckily they had others that were cooling from being out of the oven. One day, I saw the sign up and was curious about this new place in Montebello. So today, I decided to go and check it out. The owner is so sweet! The worker was kind and patient in answering our questions about the cookies. They both took the time to speak with us about the bakery which is extremely kind! Amazing customer service, they really made me feel connected with their love for the community. Onto the pastries! The ube cookies are fire . it's sweet, moist and most importantly delicious. They also happen to sell drinks so my boyfriend and I tried their cafe de olla and matcha and here's the verdict. Their cafe de olla is FIRE!!! it's really that good! The matcha is good as well but as a coffee lover, I will definitely go back to buy the cafe de olla. My only regret is that I should've bought more pastries to share with my family at home. Storytime. Girlfriend was craving something sweet on the way back home from work and she found about Butter-Lab on Yelp. We came, parking lot was typical for the Montebello area, but the sign and the interior design inside was really nice. Immediately greeted by the owner and it was hard to figure out where to start in our browsing. People started to trickle into the store shortly afterwards. Some seemed like curious locals, some seemed to also have found out about Butter-Lab for the first time, and others seemed like regulars. At the start, I was just there as the girlfriend's chauffeur, but then I noticed the box of brownie edges. All I will say is that I'll be coming back. Looked them up and love their lore. I was shopping in the plaza and made an impromptu stop here to see what they had in store as it was my husbands birthday. He had wanted banana cream pie, and lucky for him, there was banana cream pudding in stock. I also purchased tiramisu cups and a couple of tres leches slices. My husband loved the banana and tiramisu. Tiramisu was also my favorite. The tres leches would've been my favorite if it was soaked all the way through. The bottom of the cake was still a little dry but reading other reviews it seems like maybe it was just off on this day but the taste was still in the right place so I might give it another shot in the future. Also, would love if the dessert cups came in a variety of sizes. It would make for easier serving for guests if used for a party if individual size cups were an option.
