Venecia is an amazing bakery in Montebello. They serve amazing cakes - some of the best that I've had. I got to try the mango cake and... MY GOODNESS IT WAS DELICIOUS. Everyone that had a slice of the cake was also very shocked at how good it tasted. The cream is light, the mango portions are extremely generous, and the sponge cake in the middle is the perfect size. It was all very well balanced. I genuinely felt the love that went into this cake. The facility does also bake with almonds and walnuts. For anyone with peanut allergies, contaminants is not something to worry about. I was looking for a nearby bakery to order for my residents for their birthdays and after reading the positive reviews of their cakes, I had to come to check it out today! Small parking lot in the back and plenty of street parking. Located right in the corner of Whittier and Maple Ave (next to Walgreens). Upon entering, the bakery does look a bit old and outdated but it was clean. They had different types of cakes on display for sale with prices. I came mainly to try their slices of cake and went for the famous mango slice and I wanted to try the chocolate flan. I can see why everyone is raving about the mango cake! It's soft and taste fresh. Layers of sponge cake, whipped cream and fresh mangos inside. Chocolate flan was ok. It wasn't too sweet. Chocolate cake on the bottom with flan on top. However the chocolate shavings on top tasted a bit...artificial? Overall, not a bad slice of cake. I think the owner is Asian because only Asian bakeries make their cakes like sponges. It is not too sweet and so light. I don't have to travel to SGV to get my cakes now since its right down the street from my work. I called a day ahead and the baker held a mango cake for me, plenty of mange in and on top, delicious! Its their best seller and people drive from far aways for it. Pretty friendly guy and straight forward, handwrote happy birthday for my wife. He tends to sell out so definitely call ahead! I want to try the pies during november but he only bakes them a few days out of the year. will come back and trying something else wish he had more options! read more

My fiance and I came to this bakery together, to order a wedding cake. The man who helped us was extremely rude. The shop was empty as it was later in the day and he seemed very put out when we asked a couple questions, and rushed. We ended up buying a slice of cake to try when we got home, which was good, but ended up choosing another nearby bakery where the owner was sweet and kind. I can't imagine having such a disgruntled worker making my cake for such a special day. Customer service goes a long way. I won't be back. :( read more

Venecia Bakery has been another go to for many years. This is a small business in Montebello. The family that owes the bakery is always so helpful and friendly. Their cakes especially the mango cake are so delicious. Another favorite especially for events are their mini tarts. They are bite size and prefect for events. Their eclairs are also one of my favorites. The chocolate is tempered just right so it stays on when you're eating but it's still solid enough to break as you bite into the eclair. They make moist and soft cakes and they can customized any cake you want with lots of different flavors to choose from and it's reasonably priced. Just need to call them ahead of time. My sister ordered her 3 tiered wedding cake from them. Each layer was a different flavor (mango, red velvet and tiramisu). This small spot had good reviews on Yelp, so I checked them out for my godson's birthday cake. Tip: Go in store to order. They don't want to take orders over the phone. Also gotta make your deposit and needs to be cash. I was really grateful the bakery took my order in such a short amount of time. I ordered on Monday for a Thursday pickup. A 1/4 sheet cake fed about 20 people and was very well priced at $46. I also had a graphic created on the cake in Cocomelon (godson's favorite of the moment) which came out awesome. He was so excited just looking at the cake. I ordered it cookies n creme flavor, which I'm guessing isn't a specialty of this place. He looked at me a little quizzically when I ordered, but filled anyway. Maybe as a result of this, my family and I were not too impressed with the flavor. The cake was fully brown with half slices of oreos inside. The frosting was a whipped cream texture and super super sweet. My family gave it a 6/10 for taste, 9/10 presentation. We've been getting cakes at this place for around 4-6 years!! We occasionally come to get cake slices since it's close by home. The cakes have always been moist, soft, and extremely delicious/flavorful. A birthday cake we got of chocolate w/strawberry filling tasted amazing but a bit dry (that was the only time that happened). We love that the frostings aren't so sugary to the point that it's obnoxious. It's just perfectly balanced!! My favs are the fruit tarts & vanilla cake w/mixed fruit filling. We have tasted the vanilla w/mango cake and it's phenomenal! We recently tried the cream & custard puffs and they were light + creamy, 10/10 recommend!! We have bought cakes here for dinner gatherings with friends and they've enjoyed the cakes too, always asking where we buy them. I had a meeting about a block away from here and when I came out of it, there was a delicious smell in the breeze coming from this bakery. My sweet tooth kicked in so I made my way over. The outside is unassuming but very cute and clean inside. One wall had all of their pudding cups sold out for the day which told me they must be good. I ordered a brownie, some cream puffs w/ chocolate on top, and a mini fruit tart to take home. I kid you not, these were THE BEST cream puffs I think I've ever had in my life! Absolutely perfect and they were under $1. Seriously, where can you buy anything decent anymore for under a $1 ?? The brownie was great too and also didn't make it home along with the cream puffs.
