Chapala Bakery #1 - Mini concha's - Bakeries Near Me - Montebello, California

If ever in Montebello, be sure to stop at Chapala Bakery. This bakery specializes in Mexican sweet bread, and they know how to do it well. As a first-time visitor, I had no idea what to expect when I walked in with my sister and daughter. I was surprised by how big this bakery was and how many bread options it offers customers. I purchased several pieces for myself and took a sample from each piece. Each piece of bread was soft, fresh, and absolutely delicious. Being a lifelong fan of Mexican sweet bread, I can truly appreciate the bread sold here. The young lady who assisted us was very friendly, outgoing, and helpful. Prices were very affordable, which can be dangerous, as I was so tempted to buy many more pieces of bread than the six or seven I purchased I will definitely return soon. read more

On a Saturday morning in Early March, my sister and I was driving by and stopped by. It's located next to Jack in the box. It's located in a small parking lot. Luckily I found parking space. There was line of people buying concha bread and other breads. It was cheaper in price compared to other bakeries. The concha bread was soft and yummy. No photos taken inside read more

Made a stop here because I was in the area getting a car wash. The bread was really dry and had no flavor, and when I say dry like so dry you can't swallow it. The bakery seems very clean because as soon as you open the door you get a strong smell of cleaning product. Which was odd as usually you walk into a bakery and smell fresh bread. Maybe the bread wasn't fresh which is why there wasn't a smell. I'm not sure, however I will not be purchasing bread from here again. read more

Stop by with my family. Delicious! Enjoyed the cochas. Your traditional panadería where you pick your bread and pay for what you ordered.

Some of the best pan dulce I've had. We went in at 7:45pm and they had just brought out a second wave of trays of pan. It was very stocked. Everything was super warm and delicious. The smell of the place when you walk in is mesmerizing and intoxicating as you're greeted with the smell of warm, freshly baked breads and cookies. When we were given the total for 2 bags, I was shocked. It's so affordable here! If my diet would allow I would eat here daily, however I really do enjoy I when I do come here. read more

Been trying to find a good bolillo in LA county and these come close, but you have to eat them the day of, or by the next day max. The bolillos become so hard and unpleasant after a day. So buy them fresh, and only get what you will eat right away. read more

This is my go-to pan dulce spot in East Los Angeles! Chapala Bakery #1 is known for their large menu of fresh, authentic, and cheap Mexican baked goods. They open early, busy themselves with new batches of pan dulce, and keep almost every shelf stocked! I was surprised that they had a lot of popular pastries around noon! I always leave with a huge bag and can't stop recommending this place. Their staff are also super sweet and maintain the store well. Still return to this bakery even though I moved away. Needed a bunch of deliciousness for a morning event and got 2 dozen items for $25. They accept credit cards. The baked goods sell themselves no need to really even post adjectives on the bread. If I'm standing in a line at 830am with 7 people in front of me this place is worth making a trip to (line goes quickly). read more

CHAPALA!!! My father's home! The best Mexican bread by far!! Always so fresh and soft!! The best!

The bread taste like fabuloso and it's super gross. This is probably not good that the bread absorbs the chemicals. The lady's that'll ring you up are always in a bad mood. The ambience makes customers feel unwelcome. This will the last time I purchase at this bakery. read more

What a delightful find! This bakery is an absolute gem, and I can't say enough good things about it. From the moment I stepped inside, I was transported to a world of traditional Mexican bakeries, the delicious scent of fresh bread, and the welcoming ambiance. The freshly made bread is a revelation. The moment you walk in, the tantalizing aroma of freshly baked goods envelops you, and resisting the temptation of a piece of bread is impossible. But what truly sets this bakery apart is the people who work there. The staff is not only friendly but also radiates a beautiful sense of my home country's hospitality. This bakery has become my new favorite spot, and I can't wait to return to try more of their delightful offerings. This place is an absolute must-visit if you're searching for the perfect bread and a taste of traditional Mexican charm. I can't recommend it enough. Putting a one star since there is nothing less Went in on a busy day for the rosca de Reyes knowing there would possibly be a wait the young lady in the front tells me there is no more some people preordered at the moment to come back in an Hour it's 1:15 so I am to return at 2:15pm Wait around make time to come back and she tell me there is no more roscas they are all being used for previously made orders I asked her why didn't she mention that to be earlier I would have never wasted my time to come back she continued to be condescending so of course I got an attitude hello communication first rule of customer service !! Then tells me something in English thinking I'm not bilingual how rude to be a hispanic bakery ! What must she say to people who don't speak the language at the end tells me she's the daughter of the owner ! Like wow this business is going down hill with that customer service My brother worked for this bakery only reason I come back never again So much for supporting a small business read more

There seems to always be a line, but it is warranted! The pastries seem very fresh and during COVID they are limiting the number of people entering. Someone helps you pick out what you want (not self-service) and then you pay. I tried a variety of sweet breads, and the conchas are soooo soft and delicious. Everything is very affordable. I will say that the puff pastry I got was kind of hard already, maybe people don't buy that as often. The pineapple jam inside was delicious though. read more

A coworker raves about this place. I didn't feel like making the trip over to El Gallo is ELA so I went here. What a hidden gem. Their Mexican bread was soft and amazingly good.
