It's not my favorite bakery in Little Tokyo and I'd rather get Yamazaki's nikuman and as Cafe Dulce's name implies, they have a wider range and are more known for their sweet pastries (not saying that they don't have non-sweet things). They're almost always a part of the huge collaborations that Little Tokyo has, think the Hoyo slop stuff or the crazy Silent Hill one. Lots of art on their windows and they usually have a collab drink or something. Just know that depending on how popular the collab is, and even if it isn't, this place has lines out the door and is quite fisted. Tables in front are always full of people. Drinks are hit and miss. Every latte I've gotten, even with mixing is grainy sweet coffee slop and the matcha isn't too great either (way better options in the area), but if you have a sweet tooth for pastries it's not too bad. Decadent cream donuts, mochi donuts, savory sausage donuts, and creme brulee ones too. Shareable, but something I'd need to down with milk or some water.

Everything hit the spot as expected, but the highlight of my visit was definitely that berry lemonade! It had the perfect sweet to sour ratio and it looked very whimsical with its purple hue. I'll definitely be back to order that again and maybe I'll have better luck next time with the availability of the limited edition pastries. It wasn't as busy as it typically gets so took advantage of the opportunity and I dined in. During my visit I adored the Kuromi decor around the story. It was definitely picture worthy. They also have the cutest merch available for sale and of course I bought a sticker sheet to add to my sticker collection. The workers also wore pretty purple Kuromi hats and aprons, which is also included in their merch for sale fyi. If you're a Sanrio/Kuromi fan, do yourself a favor and RUN to your nearest Okayama Kobo cafe!

When I arrived, there were only a few mochi in the refrigerator, and the display looked sparse, almost as if only a few were left. The mochi I saw also looked quite different from the photo. I asked whether they had any others, and an employee told me they had been flash frozen and were in the freezer. She brought one out for me. I asked, "Was this made today?" and was told yes, so I bought it. I was very disappointed when I got home and cut it in half. I understand that a handmade dessert won't look exactly like a photo, but this was far from what I had expected. I called the bakery to explain my concern. The person I spoke with did not let me finish explaining and insisted, "That could never happen." She also asked why I was saying that and told me to bring the mochi back. I had gone out of my way to visit early that morning, so being told to make another trip was frustrating. The phone conversation left me more upset than the mochi itself. This was my second visit. The pictures are old school but that's what we were going for the fountains are definitely a day to think but they said you can give them a picture and they can do whatever you want. When I return the fountain I did see a really beautiful butterfly cake that someone designed I wish I would have taken a picture of it. Come here if you want a delicious cake for an affordable price in these crazy times! Our flavors were mango and vanilla chiffon and strawberry vanilla chiffon and then the middle cake was both of those flavors combined. Super light and Airy not too sweet just the right amount.

His customer service and his attention to detail were outstanding! Even after he sold it to a family member, I continued buying my cakes there, as it's been a family tradition for decades. Birthdays, graduations, baby showers, congratulations cakes, and a few holidays throughout the year, we get our cakes here and would always send business their way. But, throughout the years after Tom left, we noticed the quality and quantity not only of their customer service, but also their cakes decline. The sponge got thinner and thinner, as the price steadily continued going up. Basically half the sponge for double the price, but the flavor we all had gotten accustomed to was still the same so we continued buying cakes there. Then a few years back we noticed even the favor and the most basic of decorations started to decline. A basic cake that once had a trim and a few colored flowers, were no longer. "Who wants an all white buttercream cake?? That looks unfinished??" Cakes are purchased for celebration, and instead they are now, with no effort AT ALL just providing these cakes with no decoration at all. Plain, with chocolate writing, that's it that's all. Nowadays, I can get a tastier, better decorated cake at Walmart, and for a 3rd of the price! They have completely destroyed Tom's legacy! And if that's not bad enough, the customer service is now horrendous! I went in to pick up a cake; When I arrived, I asked if the cake was ready as the ones in the fridge didn't look finished or like anything I had ordered. The young lady at the counter tells me it's ready and proceeded to pack up the most hideous plain cake I've ever seen. I paused and asked her, why wasn't it done as ordered? I stated for it to be done in blue (as it's always been done) blue writing, blue, trim, a few blue flowers, and of course the writing (a pretty basic and standard cake, nothing fancy). She looks at a note and tells me "well, we can fix the writing but it's going to look ugly" no apology for their mistake, just this look on her face, like it bothered her that it was brought to her attention. Then I showed her photos of previous purchased cakes (from there) and she stated well, I've never seen you here... well, I hadn't seen her either, still doesn't change the fact that... 1. It was done wrong and the cake was not what I had ordered... 2. That she had a horrible attitude. People like her is the reason small shops like this one go out of business. No one wants to have their time wasted, and give up their hard earned money for a "professional" service to be provided and met with mediocre service, the wrong order, and on top of that given an attitude and asked to pay extra to correct their mistakes and confusion; if I wanted as ordered! AFTER THIS EXPERIENCE WE'LL NEVER RETURN. WE'RE TAKING OUR BUSINESS AND OUR MONEY TO AN ESTABLISHMENT THAT TREATS THEIR CUSTOMERS WITH COURTESY AND RESPECT, THAT DOESNT TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THEIR LOYAL CUSTOMERS WHEN INTRUSTING THEM WITH OUR BUSINESS ON SPECIAL OCCASIONS OR EVENTS. Loved the atmosphere, vibes & how it was well decorated with season! We loved the Pumpkin patch idea the had!
