I saw this bakery, go a little bit viral on Instagram and was visiting family in the area so I decided to give it a try and support a small business and let me tell you I was not disappointed. They had so many things to choose from it took me a moment to decide, but I ended up getting their crinkle cookies Which seemed to be popular because a lady came in after and ordered the rest of the ones that they had on the display. I also ended up ordering an Ube cheesecake and a Tres leches cake slices and everything was so delicious but by far my favorite was the Ube cheesecake. It was so unique and delicious 10 out of 10 would recommend can't wait to go back and try some of their other creations.
Found this place on Instagram, so we drove down from Pasadena...and it was well worth the drive. The store is super cute inside with a fun seating area. I wished we had arrived earlier to be able to enjoy more of the sold out offerings, but next time we'll arrive right when they open. We ordered a dozen crinkle cookies for a Mother's Day lunch - enjoying the sweet ube and the spiced thai tea versions. Both were great compliments to each other - more perfectly sweet and the other a bit more herbal. The chocolate chip cookie was perfect - nice crunchy edges and slightly gooey soft inside. The ube tres leches was a little disappointing as there wasn't any tres leches cake at the bottom, just crumbly graham crackers resting below exquisite ube mousse. It could have been mislabeled, but it was essentially just ube mousse with crumbly graham crackers for texture. The staff were friendly and the store is so fun!
We visited Butter Lab for the first time on 05/10/2026 in the late morning hours. The person helping us out at the counter, on this somewhat busy morning, kept the flow running nice and smooth (and he was friendly) So, we tried a few things during this visit. Two items for immediate consumption and then some cookies for later. We purchased a dozen of the regular size cookies, including both Ube and Thai Tea. Both of them were excellent, and I felt they were priced appropriately at a dozen for $18. The Thai Tea seriously tasted like you were truly drinking a thai tea. We also shared one large classic chocolate chip cookies (so yummy!) The only thing we didn't understand is that we shared a Ube Tres Leches. I am not sure what was going on. Don't get me wrong, what we ate was very good; however, it was 100% not Tres Leches. It was an Ube Cream with some graham cracker crumble underneath. So, my assumption is that they must have just given us the wrong item. I would love to try the Tres Leches again in the future. Please support his lovely local business. It was a real treat!
Okay this place is dangerously good! I popped in after work the other day and on my way home to pick up something for my sweet tooth. I walked out with apricot linzer cookies, banana pudding, bread pudding, and the basque cheesecake. Heaven. All of it. I had previously tried the tiramisu and the bread pudding as well as the tres leches, and can say that every dessert item has been exceptionally good. Nothing is overly sweet and portions are good enough to share or devour alone like I did. Will continue to pop in to try more goodies and satisfy my sweet tooth!
I was craving something sweet and figured since I live in Montebello, why not try a local bakery I haven't been to yet...The Yelp reviews were great, so I had to check it out for myself. I'm a big chocolate lover and originally came in for a chocolate brownie, but they were unfortunately out. They did have an ube brownie, and it seems like a lot of their desserts feature ube. I also noticed that they use organic and natural ingredients, which I really appreciated. The owner was incredibly kind and even let me sample the ube brownie. For me personally, it was a bit too sweet, but that really just comes down to preference. The chocolate chip cookies had just come out of the oven, so they were super fresh, maybe a little softer and more textured than I typically like, just a bit too raw for me, but still a good cookie overall. I'll admit, I can be a little picky when it comes to desserts. The standout for me was the café de olla latte, absolutely delicious because she made it with care, definitely something I would come back for. While the desserts didn't quite hit the mark for my taste, I still think this spot is worth trying. The owner is genuinely sweet, and the space itself is adorable, very warm, cozy, and thoughtfully decorated with a dessert-inspired theme. Overall, it just might be one of those places that others will love more than I did, but I'm glad I gave it a try...
This is my happy place. I love coming here after work and unwinding with my favorite drink the lady black. I love the fun vibes and the staff. Everything is made from scratch my favorites are the molasses cookie, the oatmeal sandwich, cookie, and the Thai tea crinkle cookie. don't sleep on their pies, the chicken pot is my fave. A favorite at my house is the banana cream pie pudding. don't sleep on the coffee cake, I took it to work and not a crumb was left.
I had been craving ube crinkle cookies and was searching Yelp for a bakery that sells them when I stumbled upon Butter Lab. Since it was Super Bowl Sunday, I called first to make sure they were open. It took about seven calls before someone finally picked up. I placed a phone order for six mini ube crinkle cookies, one large ube crinkle cookie, and a bag of ube blondie edges. When I arrived, there was only one person working, who looked like the baker and possibly the owner, so I understood why it took a while to answer the phone. Although I had reserved one large ube crinkle cookie, it wasn't included in my order, which ended up being fine because the mini cookies were a good size and felt like a better value at $1.50 each compared to $3.00 for the large one. The crinkle cookies and blondie edges were good. I wish the cookies were a bit more chewy rather than cake-like and less sweet, but they were still delicious and reasonably priced. The blondie edges were a great deal at $3 per bag, especially if you enjoy the edge pieces of brownies. I would return here for the brownie edges.
The food looks great and the staff are f friendly. The issues are with the food and drinks... I ordered a Strawberry Matche Latte and got my father a brown sugar latte. My Matcha was not even bloomed. It had huge clumps of matcha in it. There was virtually no sugar, any flavor had was in the strawberry, which tasted like nesquik starberry milk. My father said his coffee had no sugar in it. The first thing we had was the banana pudding, at it in shop while they made the drink. Insanely fresh but again, all the flavor came from the actual bananas, not the custard. It was almost as bland as baby food, which sucks cause the banana pudding looked amazing and it was the perfect texture. The crumb topping was amazing. The crinkle cookies are perfect and if I go back, it's for those alone. The ube tries leches? Creamy but again, hardly any sugar. This one might be ok as itll come down to preference on it. They've cheese cake? A Basque cheesecake? A lot less impressive, flavor falls flat but I've never really had a decent one to compare it to. The ube blondies? Amazing. I wanted more until I ate the second one... I'm not sure if its floss or hair but it was disgusting. I honestly wanted to be nice about the review and wanted to keep it quiet but their phone number on yelp, google and ever their website for taking catering ( 323 487 2558 ) does not actually connect. Says out of service ). Attached a photo as proof I called once from google. Second time was when i called from their catering page. I was hoping they cared cause the staff said let us know how it is, were always open for feedback or suggestions. If you like low sugar foods, then great. I'm diabetic so I shouldnt be eating a lot of sugar but I'm an ube or matcha fanatic and I want good food for that fix when I break my diet.
This review is longggg overdue! Annie is absolutely incredible. One of the kindest people I have ever met. She made the cake process so easy for us and worked with our budget. Forever grateful for you guys! Also.. the cake was delicious and SO pretty!
From outta town and google map'd for bakeries / sweet treats while in the area. I like ube tres leches, carrot cake cupcake and the Thai tea crinkle. Apricot jam cookie was good too. The corn and saffron crinkle had good flavor too but the sweetness level was quite high for me but I know friends that have that high of a sweet tooth that would love it. Would come back again to try again, thanks!
Came across this little gem today and I cannot stress how good these delights are. First the selections are right up my alley for cookies we had Vietnamese coffee, matcha, strawberry, chocolate brownie, pandan and oatmeal cranberry. We also had the ube brownie and ube cheesecake, with a cold brew. Turned around and grabbed a coffee cake along with everything else. Coffee cake was okay kind of underwhelming. Everything besides that was so good! Authentic look and flavors. Madds was super friendly and helpful in explaining all the flavors. Honestly hands down best cookies I've tasted.
I've been coming to this bakery for a bit now. My kids love the tres leches cakes. So much so that my daughter wanter her birthday cake to be tres leches from butter lab. The owner is so sweet and the rest of the staff is always so nice. I have yet to try any of the drinks but i will definitely be ordering something soon.
Driving along Beverly Blvd, I was craving cookies Lo and behold I found one Cute small business owned cookie shop While I haven't tried the chocolate chip Cookie, I did try the crinkles-definitely Asian inspired flavors like Pandan, durian, green tea...I would have liked to tried the Ube but they were all out I'll try to come back again!

I was so pleased with my birthday cakes and cookies from Butter Lab! Annie, the owner, was so accommodating and sweet. She worked with me to find the best options as far as size of cakes and pricing. I was indecisive and changed the cake flavor, but she was understanding and even made me a filling she hadn't made before. I asked for an espresso mousse filling with dulce de leche for the black chocolate cake and it was to die for! The cake was moist, very chocolatey, and the espresso paired beautifully with it. It was SO delicious! I also ordered a Citrus Dream sheet cake and added fresh raspberries along with the yuzu curd. It was exceptional! The cake was so flavorful and even had lemon zest for an enhanced citrus flavor. In addition to the cakes, I ordered some strawberry, Ube and Pandan coconut crinkle cookies. They were so moist and delicious! My favorite were the Pandan coconut cookies. I'm looking forward to ordering from Butter Lab in the future to try more unique, exquisite cakes and other desserts! Came to support a new local business and find a cake for a family member. All the staff was really friendly and the goods looked so good. There were cupcakes, pie, blondes, Ibe brownies, the edges of blondies and brownies, and the cakes are all in rectangular tins. It's more of a deconstructed style. The basque cheesecake slice was amazing and they have good crinkles. Crinkles are multiple flavors There is free parking in a lot out front. I'd go back! read more

Butter lab to the rescue !! If your looking for amazing cookies and desserts, then look no further. Called on a Thursday looking for a cake on a Friday for my wife's birthday, and annie was not only super friendly, but also very helpful and made it happen. My wife is a big fan of Ube and on short notice and made her one of the best Ube cakes we've ever had. I also tried the tres leches and an assortment of the crinkle cookies which were also amazing. I would highly recommend this place to anybody looking for an awesome cake and a great experience and CUSTOMER SERVICE thats second to none. So glad to see a Filipino fusion bakery in Montebello! Annie and Austin were so nice and welcoming, and their baked goods were no joke. They are big on their flavors! Each cookie tastes exactly as you'd expect. My favorite was the thai tea one, which isn't in their menu rotation, but consider this my formal peitition to make it one. I also really enjoyed the ube brownie and basque cheesecake. Tip: when you get home, warm up the ube brownie before you eat it! I love that more trendy small businesses are popping up in the area, especially one as good as this. I can't wait to come back and try more items! read more

Drove by here the other day, but they were closed on a Tuesday. I stopped by on Monday because I wanted to try their tiramisu, but the owner Annie said it sold out the day before. She said next time I can call ahead and she can try to save me one which was very kind of her! I did get a whipped cheesecake. It was the last one and it was amazing! I wish I could have a whole pie dish of this stuff. The crust was nice to have with this not too sweet, caramel, whipped cheesecake 100/10 I would get this again or any other variation flavor of it. Maybe I can order it for my bday?! I also tried the Ube Blondie because she says she cooks the Ube herself. I really enjoyed it. It was moist and dense, and the Ube flavor was light. It was not too sweet either. She also sells a bag of brownie edges, but I did not get that. There was also a flan, Basque cheesecake, cookies, banana pudding, but I didn't get all of them... To my regret. The crinkle cookies have a lot of different flavors, like sesame, Pandan coconut, Matcha, corn - saffron, black chocolate, ube, strawberry and she has a little menu of flavors she has that changes daily. They also sell coffee/drinks to go with your baked goods! You can special order custom cakes too. Happy to support a small woman owned business with fun flavors and that tasted amazing! I stopped by this bakery and they were sold out of most items, so I tried the cookies and I'm glad I did. They were fresh, soft, and really delicious. By far my FAVORITE BAKERY and I'm a snob when it comes to these things. The desserts are sooo delicious! I love the Ube and other Asian-inspired fusions. The cheesecakes are some of my favorite picks, and the buttercream on the cakes have the perfect flavor- not too sweet and just melts right in my mouth. When I came in, I was immediately greeted with the kind of warm welcome that made me feel like family. The staff is professional and fun, and I really love the ambiance of the bakery along with all the little decorative details. I love how there are so many live plants that contribute to the freshness of the atmosphere. Annie, the owner, also does beautiful, custom cakes and delivers! First time I went to this shop and i bought those desserts on Saturday and all of them are sooooooo yummmm specially tiramisu OMGosh is delicious!!!! I don't taste any chemicals on them like selling in supermarkets. I finally found a place to buy desserts with dark chocolate on them. The owner was very nice! Bravo BUTTER LAB!! Good job!! This review is solely based on their custom cake that I ordered. I submitted an inquiry online and filled in all the necessary information. I heard back within 1 day, which I really appreciated! I placed my order about 2 weeks in advance for a 6in cake and was quoted $85. I noticed the store is closed on Tuesdays & Wednesdays, which was when I was supposed to pick up my cake so I asked about that. She told me not to worry and that my cake would be ready and she'll deliver it to me because of the store being closed. On the day of the cake delivery, I appreciated how she kept me updated on her ETA. Eventually, I got my cake and I was really disappointed. :( I asked for the cake to contain an anime character and the words "Happy Birthday" written across the top, but other than that, she had free reign on how to design the cake. The picture printed on top of the cake was of poor quality; I could see the printer lines, which ruined the otherwise elegant appearance of the cake. I also wasn't happy with the written words on top; it was very bulky and seemed cramped. The cake itself (Ube flavored) was delicious - honestly, probably one of my favorite cakes I've had. It was perfectly moist and the ube flavor was very pronounced, but for $85, I expected more out of the design. I reached out to her and expressed my disappointment/feedback and she was very receptive and kind about it (which is why I'm giving a 4 star rating). She offered a refund on the design portion of the cake, which I thought was fair. I think she handled the situation perfectly and I'm glad to know they have such delicious treats being offered! read more

I tried her cookies and they were incredibly moist and really, really good. You can tell a lot of thought goes into each flavor. The owner is super nice and welcoming, which makes the experience even better. I love that her cookies are inspired by different cultures--she does an amazing job pulling those unique flavors together and translating them perfectly into a cookie. Read that this place had their grand opening recently, and since I live so close, I figured I'd drop by and grab a treat for myself. The displays were partially filled on both sides, I'm sure more will come in once things start selling. A green item with coconut shreds on it caught my eye. The girl came out from the back and greeted us. I asked if the green was pandan, and she said yes. I've had pandan before, so I was familiar with the taste. My pokemon shirt caught her eye, and she told me she thought it was very cute. I thanked her and bought the pastry. I noticed a frother by the register and mentioned I recently bought one, but I'm not sure how it actually works. She gave me some pointers that were very helpful! Was eyeballing the brownies, too. They did a great job on my mean girls burn book brownies !!! It was huge hit everyone loved it. Absolutely delicious and kept its form the whole 2 hour drive ! Annie was amazing, patient, and kind. I love everything ube at Butterlab! The ube cheesecake, cookies, and BROWNIES. The tree leches were so good too. They have different flavored cookies- black sesame, thai tea, strawberry, lemon, matcha, etc. goes well with a cup of coffee or tea. Huge parking lot with plenty of spots read more
