This is a nice little family owned ice cream spot! As soon as I walked in I got greeted with the biggest smile and "welcome"! The energy right away felt so authentic and pure. The guy who I believe is the owner was so friendly and let us try any flavor we wanted. It was a father and daughter who served us and they were so friendly and funny. I got the strawberry Jamaica and mango water based ice cream. It was so refreshing, it wasn't too sweet, and the texture of the ice cream was just perfect! I don't like when ice cream is too sweet where you can taste the syrup. I like that they have unique flavors like Fresa Jamaica, Peppermint Pineapple, and a 3 berry blend (raspberries, blueberries, blackberries) flavor. Loved everything about this place, I can't wait to be back to try the coconut milk based ice cream and all their other flavors (:
Absolutely love coming to this small business!! The owner is super friendly, always welcoming with a smile. The tostilocos and nieves are DELICIOUS and not overly sweet. In this 90+ degree weather, this place will hit the spot. Definitely a must try!!
I recall telling my grandma "gracias pero no me mandes nada abué acá venden todo" except the ONE thing I always craved and she couldn't send..... nieve de garrafa! Now I can say, I found a place that's just like the guy down the street from my abuelita's in GDL. Yesterday, we stopped at La Garrafa MX on our way to LA. As we walked-in I felt the "Mexico vibe" we greeted and were greeted by staff and customers "buenas tardes, buenas tardes, buenas tardes." Loved it! Establishment had two other couples and then our group of three. Who I presume was the owner was very nice guiding us thru his best selling flavors and providing us samples. We talked here and there and our families are so close to each other in GDL and Tamazula so we decided he's our honorary cousin. Lol Nieve de garrafa surpassed my expectations and it's the closest you'll get the nieve de garrafa estilo Jalisco. We plan to return again today on our way back home. In the future this foodie won't mind making the 2hr drive for nieve de garrafa. P.s. we kept talking about it as we checked-in at our hotel so our front desk started craving it (small world- he's gone before) so he decided to go and have some after his shift.
What a gem!!! To find Mexican style ice cream over here is such a treat. Nieve de garrafa is the style of ice cream and it's usually more of a sorbet like texture. Very smooth and refreshing with natural ingredients or flavors! I love it cause it's a lot lighter than US ice creams. We got the flavors - coconut & strawberry hibiscus, horchata, mango and lime with tajin and chamoy All were hits! My favorite was the coconut. The interior was nice and looks newly renovated. They had A/C on a hot day and a cute little patio. There was also parking. The service was quick, and the cashier understood both English and Spanish. She was friendly too. We will be back!
This brings me back to my mom and dad home town in Yahualica Jalisco. Best chocolate abuelita so far I have tasted especially the small pieces of Chocolate you get with every bite you take. And the other flavor I got was the horchata taste just if you are having the drink. Yea I know I had it for yesterday with the rain lol but I was craving ice cream yesterday and this hit the spot I needed it yesterday. I got the pint and it was around $6.75 I think I paid $14 for two pints come and support our small business in Montebello you won't regret this delicious ice cream
Was in the area and had to see what the rave was about, and it did not disappoint! So many fun flavors and I had to go with the pineapple/coconut to cool down from such a hot day. The place is cute and small with lots of people getting their ice cream to go. Super friendly, who I am assuming is the owner.
We had just finished lunch at BLVD and my wife wanted something sweet. We decided to come check this place out and it did not disappoint. I love their ice cream flavors and everything tasted so fresh and natural. The worker was really friendly too even after all the samples my wife asked for.
immediately when we walked in, we were welcomed. store was clean and the options were great. They have water based and milk based flavors. i got a double scoop with nuez and chocolate de mi abuelita. good flavors. my sister got vanilla and we shared a tostilocos. everything was so yummy. prices are reasonable.
Card has a $0.50 transaction fee. Been meaning to try this spot and it did not disappoint. Alfonso was extremely welcoming and easy to chat with felt like I was catching up with my friend's tio. All ice cream are made in-house. We stopped by right as they opened at 1pm and Alfonso apologized as some flavors might not have set enough to be served since he came in a bit late today. He usually comes in around 5am to prep when flavors are running low. Everything we tried wasn't too sweet. Definitely will be coming back and trying other flavors! Taro -so creamy, perfectly flavored and not overly artificial. Horchata -not too much cinnamon. Surprisingly good for it being water based, just enough creaminess from the condensed milk in it. Strawberry Jamaica -if you love strawberries, this flavor is it. Paired perfectly with chamoy and tajin. Mango -so refreshing, I added condensed milk on my own and chef's kiss. Wished they offered condensed milk here! Watermelon -liked this more than the Mango, but both are good. Chamoy and Tajin paired well! Mamey -creamy but the prefect amount of fruitiness. Also sooo good. Coffee -if you love Vietnamese coffee, this one is for you. It was so strong in a good way. We topped it with condensed milk at home and it was chef's kiss. Crack in a cup.. If you don't like strong coffee, stray away. Pistachio -tons of crushed pistachio throughout. Guanabana (soursop)- favorite flavor from water based we tried. It tastes just like the real fruit. Lime -just enough tanginess. My colleague ordered this and opted for no chamoy, personally felt like it was missing something but still good on its own. We topped it with condensed milk and also chef's kiss. Vanilla -sooo creamy and good, there is depth that I can't explain. Coconut- creamy coconut milk, not artificial flavor taste. Tons of coconut shreds if you don't mind texture. But it's a bit much if you get more than one scoop. read more

The mango flavor is very weak I eat it and I'm searching for the mango but it taste just like almost like water. Like no mango flavor at all And the lime is OK, but it is all white Usually, it's somewhat green The flavors are not the strongest or the sweetest I feel like they could use more fruit and it would be a lot better, but I know it's more expensive for them.... I've been here before and gave many flavors as a chance over like six or seven flavors and nothing has ever wild me wowed read more
Entered the door and immediately greeted by all the employees. Truly felt really welcomed and respected. It was our first time there and we're not sure which flavor. They let us sample some flavors and we ended up going with the Jamaica and Berry Flavor ice cream. We were hooked! Can't wait to go back read more

Cute little nieve spot in Montebello. I've been been here about 2 or 3 times. The water-based nieves are really good (could be a little sweeter). They have so many flavors to choose from! My favorite flavors so far are the taro (milk-based) and blended berry (water-based). There is plenty of seating inside but it usually feels a bit warm so we take our nieve to go. Wait times have always been very short too. Overall, I recommend this little hidden gem! read more

Wow so happy this place exists! "Garrafa" ice cream is hard to come by, but my favorite kind to have. It's refreshing like shaved ice, but smooth like traditional ice cream. Texture wise it is somewhere in between. I love how they have traditional flavors and also seasonal fun options. (Not that traditional isn't fun enough already lol) I have loved all the flavors I have tried so far. I was shocked they had Taro, but it's definitely a must try! The service is also great every time I have been I've been greeted immediately and thanked endlessly for coming in. With the heat we've been experiencing lately I will be returning to purchase A pint or two very soon. :) read more
Been seeing this place as I pass by. Yelps said it was good. And it was. The ice cream had a watery texture to it. It melted fast. I asked if it was milk based. They said yes. Still not creamy or churned. But good. I got two scoops for $4. Not bad. But very basic small scoops. Plenty of flavors to choose from. Downside for me was the consistency. But I love supporting small, local businesses. I definitely enjoyed my ice cream for what it was. The Mexican themed flavors were nostalgic. Service was good. Friendly, helpful people here. So thanks to them. Keep up the good work. read more
Second time coming here I highly recommend this place. All the ice creams I've tried have been delicious refreshing and right on point with flavor. I've tried the limón, horchata, matcha green tea, guanábana, abuelita chocolate and the coffee. How you may say in two trips family I've picked on the kids ice creams, fiancée and moms can't help it's hard deciding which one to try next. They also have snacks tried the hot Cheetos with cheese yummy... hot cheese on a crunchy Cheeto with a kick of spice need I say more All for a very good price which is much appreciated in these times Has a nice little patio in the back to chill some space Indoors with some cool air and good vibes. read more
