We ordered 2 spicy cheese burgers with seasoned fries yet the fries were more memorable for me - crunchy and seasoned well. I appreciate the fresh burger patties and the spicy kick but it wasn't as meaty and the overall burger was smaller than I expected. For ~$15 for my meal, I wished the burgers were a bit bigger for the cost and it left me not full. Drink machine was also out of service when we were there, service could have been better too. I've been on THE hunt for a tasty burger and OH BUDDY did Buddy's Burger not disappoint. This was my first time here and the inside is so welcoming and cute and like many have mentioned clean. The day I went they seemed to be having issues with their POS but was luckily still able to order. For food, I decided to get the Double Classic with Cheese and Season Fries and I kid you not this place cranks out your food. I barely put away my wallet and next thing I knew heard my name being called. This actually made me a bit weary thinking the food wasn't fresh, but everything was still hot and the fries crispy! For a fast food place Buddy's burger was so tasty, I am not sure if it is the 100% angus chuck beef used or maybe it's the extra care used to hand form each patty...but I do know this was a solid burger. I especially loved how the cheese was perfectly melted, and everything was tied together with their sauce which reminded me of a Thousand Island based one, and like how they used Martin's Potato Rolls as their bun. I would also recommend asking for the fixins as I think the onions really helped to enhance the burger... the raw ones are free but the grilled are +.30 and same for grilled jalapenos. Their produce and veggies are also all hand cut, which was evident as the fries seemed to have a variety of thickness. However, they were still pretty crispy and the seasoning held on well. The seasoning is quite flavorful, and reminds me of the one used for crawfish, it was personally a hair much for me and would probably be happier with the plain variety. Overall, I was very happy with my first time here, and hoping my next visit is just as good. The one thing to note was that an employee wasn't wearing her mask properly, so hoping all staff is masking properly at my next visit. Their burgers come with their "smack sauce" which I was told is a mayo based sauce with mustard, ketchup and seasoning.. it was good. My son got a burger, seasoned fries and a Dr Pepper, my daughter a cheeseburger, fries and a cookies & cream milkshake and I got a cheeseburger with raw onions, fries and a mango lemonade. We all agreed that those burgers were excellent. You have the option to pay a little extra to add-on extra cheese, a patty, grilled onions or jalapenos (raw onions and pickles are free). The highlight on the burger (hands down) is the fresh baked bun... yummy! I'm already a fan of thin shoestring style fries so I was happy with their fries. My son loved the seasoned ones. I tried a couple and it was kinda of like a cajun type season (just a guess). The mango lemonade was delish and the cookies & cream shake was too. It kind of had a cinnamon-like taste (could be because they use Mexican vanilla ice cream) which kinda made it taste a bit like a cocolate cinnamon toast crunch shake. Yes, Yes, Yes! Hubby and I stopped here for lunch after visiting the Capitol Building & it did not disappoint! For $28.00 we got two combo meals. This place does it right. They're quick, great burger and fries, good parking, drive thru for quick and go, clean, and they have a gas station right next to it for additional convenience. If you live or work close to this place, you'll be coming back often. I expect this place to grow quickly and open more locations around Austin. Our order: Spicy double cheeseburger- my fiancé said it was really good but not necessarily spicy Regular cheeseburger- I thought it was great. They have the thinner more diner style hamburger patties that I love (think Steak 'n Shake if you're from the north like me! Regular fries- thin shoe string style, flavor was great and they were hot Seasoned fries- the flavoring reminded me of a bbq rub, unique and delicious Mango lemonade- so unique, refreshing, delicious Oreo milkshake- nice and thick and a lot of Oreo pieces Overall, great food and not greasy. I had to try their mango lemonade and it was solid, subtle and not overly sour or sweet. Their fries were crisp, nicely seasoned and in between string fries and regular cut fries. The taste was amazing and the spicy-ness of the burger was definitely there so be prepared for the kick of jalapeños you're about to receive! The meat was juicy, fresh, and very favorable. The veggies were fresh and tasty. The buns were really buttery and had such a great flavor! The seasoned fries are an easy 9.5 almost a 10 but that's obviously debatable. The fries had me wanting more and more after every single thin piece. I'm not a fries type of person but my gf definitely is and for myself not being a fries type of person I can definitely vouch for these as well Overall the experience was a 10. Found this gem thanks to Jackson Rathbone's IG. There is no way I would have thought that this random fast food joint next to a gas station would have such tasty food. I ordered a classic hamburger and added raw onions, pickles and jalapeños with fries and a soft drink. The Buddy's smack sauce is so good! It's very mayo forward so if you're not crazy about mayo, you might want to ask for your burger without it. Their regular fries were great. I had the chance to taste the seasoned fries as well and was not a fan, but my husband loved them. Kids were happy with their food and milkshakes (you can ask to upgrade to milkshakes instead of getting a soft drink). They also have a few local selections of draft beer and cider. A definite top 5 burger in my opinion. Upon doing my usual food reviews before taking a vacation I came across delicious looking photos and said we have to try this place. Got here around 10:30pm and the line was a few cars deep but moved quickly and the girl taking the orders was nice. My fiancé and I wanted to try a few items so we ended up ordering 2 Double cheeseburger meals one with regular fries and one with seasoned fries, a oreo shake and a lemonade. The burgers were so juicy and flavorful and every ingredient complimented it so well. (If you've ever tried shake shack before this burger tops it by far). The bun was also light and buttery and the cheese and buddy smack sauce hit. In my opinion the seasoned fries were the way to go, the fries were crispy on the outside but fluffy on the inside and had kind of like a cajun seasoning. The oreo shake was delicious! Probably one of the best i've had, it was creamy not too thick to where you couldn't get it out of the straw and the oreos were the perfect amount. Also the lemonade hit and was comparable to raising canes with just the right amount of sweetness. My fiancé literally thanked me after for finding this place and said we have to make a trip back before we head back on a flight home. read more
