Support local businesses! We saw bub and pops on an episode of diners drive ins and dives and wanted to check them out. We ordered from the pickup window outside before walking in to grab a table. We got the roast turkey hoagie and chicken cheesesteak. The sandwiches are massive! Roast turkey was good but I really liked the chicken cheesesteak. It came fresh off the grill and the bread is really good too. Everyone was really friendly and accommodating. We will definitely be back!

Food was not good. The "Real Obama" sandwich was described as a beef brisket, however, it was more like ground beef or that type of meat you'd find in a philly cheese steak. You can find pictures on their yelp page from other people. They added a ton of vinaigrette to it, which both made the bread soggy, and I'm being serious here - I was eating it next door at the middle eastern place (since Bub's doesn't have indoor seating), and someone across the room there said my vinaigrette was hurting their eyes. Their service was really great though. The kid at the front taking orders was super nice and professional. Hence the 2 stars vs 1. (Adding my receipt, as my initial review of the business was taken down saying: "it didn't look like your content depicted an experience at this location"). Ummm, yes it did!

1/2 Fried Chicken Cutlet Hoagie Sandwich

Omg....in love with this. This is half a sandwich and I struggled to finish it. I don't even want to think about how big a full sandwich is. Had the fried chicken cutlet sandwich, which was warm , juicy and had a lot of fresh veggies on it. This is a must try-if I worked nearby id get this every day. Service was fast. The place is just a walk up window and ordering is easy.

Half Chicken Parmesan Sandwich ($12)

Honestly I can't believe this place doesn't have a higher rating, which is saying something given that they're around 4.4 stars right now. I ordered a half chicken Parmesan sandwich ($12). Unless you eat like Michael Phelps, half is probably enough! I could barely finish it and I consider myself a pretty big eater. The sandwich is excellent, one of the best I've had. The bread was sturdy, with a little crunch and a lot of flavor. It survived a fifteen-minute walk to the park in excellent condition. Each side was painted with either marinara or pesto. I was surprised by the pesto but it actually worked really well! Enveloped by all these ingredients was a gargantuan pile of breaded and fried chicken. Each piece was tender and quite flavorful. They could have sold the chicken for $25 if they plopped it on a plate with some pasta. But lucky for us, they put it in an even tastier setting and charged less money for it. This sandwich oozed hot and cheesy deliciousness from start to finish. I'll be back for sure, hopefully to try another sandwich, though it's hard to see myself getting away from such a star.

The Bub's Italian Hoagie Sandwich

Came here on a whim after a work seminar, and was blown away by the flavor of the Italian sandwich. An exceptional take on a classic sandwich, and from a take out window nonetheless! There was a small line and a group of others waiting for their orders, but the service was quick and friendly. The staff at the window answered all my first timer questions and I decided on their most popular sandwich. I really can't recommend this sandwich spot enough! If you ever find yourself in the after you definitely have to give it a try!

This is my favorite sandwich shop without doubt. My all time favorite is the Bulgarian feta, super fresh with very balanced but stunning flavors. However, the last time I visited I just couldn't find it on the menu, and I was in a rush, so I ended up ordering chicken Parmesan. The chicken Parmesan was just as great! (I'm usually not a fan) There is no dine in, but there are some outdoor seats near by. You can also order ahead to pickup and avoid the queue. Portion is HUGE!

We came on a Saturday for lunch. You order at the window and they will call ur number. No seating so you'll have to eat somewhere else. They also have a $5 min for credit card. We waited a little bit for the food, it's a bit pricey but everything was delicious! The chips were $5 and tasted like regular chips so might not be worth it. The subs were amazing, i got the Italian and it was packed with meat. There was fresh Parmesan cheese and it had an oil on the sandwich that was so good. Definitely expect to wait and go on a day with nice weather since you'll prob have to eat outside.

If I could give 100 stars I would!! These are the best hoagies and sandwiches you will have in the DMV. I can understand why they have been around for 11 years. I am sad that this was my first time going, but I will definitely be back and I have been raving about the steak and cheese, the Italian hoagie, the chicken Parm, the Bolognese sub!!!! When I go back, I'm definitely going to try the chicken salad. I love that. They bake their own bread and that they use fresh ingredients that they make themselves even down to the pepper sauce. The individuals who work the order window are also very very nice! Great service

One of the best sandwiches I've ever had in my life. I had their version of a po boy, and my partner had their meatball parm. Perfect warm sandwiches on a cold day. There's limited seating inside, but the sandwiches were so good we just ate by a table outside and took the rest home :)

This sandwich shop has been on the "need to try" list for a while. I was in Dupont at the Phillips Collection and decided since I was hungry I would walk over and get a sandwich. Some of the menu items 1230 were already sold out and covered over. I decided on the roast beef with everything except tomatoes. Order number 22. I paid in cash and stood to wait. Before too long a short line forms and sandwiches are coming out one after another. My order comes up and I sit in the small entry area next to the shop where there are a few tables and chairs. First off the sandwich is good size. Fresh bread and paper thin onions on top. The meat is generously sliced and seasoned well, not too much dressing or heat. Everything is fresh and tasty. If you're in the area and could use a fresh good quality (filling) sandwich definitely give them a try.

We have been here a couple of times when my husband is on a Clinical Congress in D.C. Yesterday's dinner was a disappointment. The Rib eye steak was not the quality we expected. It was too fatty not marbled. Service: Our waiter was great. He was attentive and polite. Our concern was the receptionist or the management. When we dine at Ebbit Grill, we were there for the ambiance. Yesterday, we walked in to dine without a reservation and waited 1 hour and 15 minutes to be seated. To our surprise we were taken to the courtyard seating outside!! There were vacant tables available for 2 in the main dining as we walked by. We asked if we can be seated in the main dining but they refused because we didn't have a reservation and were told we had to wait another 30 minutes!!! Eating outside in the courtyard wasn't what we expected. We were there for the experience and expressed this to them but to no avail. If they had told us upfront that we had to wait 2 hours to be seated in the main dining room, then we would had left and chose another restaurant. Perhaps, next time you're busy, consider mentioning that customers may be seated outside. We were extremely disappointed at how they handled this and left a bad taste in our mouths (no pun intended)for the restaurant. Seating outside lost its appeal and charm. Ambiance: loud!!

My spouse and I decided to treat ourselves on a beautiful Thursday night and - hold on - The Admiral was the place we selected. Ok, so it's halfway between our office and our house but even if it were WAY out of the way, we would gladly go there. The food is solid, the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, the service is always perfection. This time I had the Filibuster Smash Burger. OMG so good! A 4 ounce burger patty topped with shaved steak, some sort of sauce that kept it moist and tasty and some veggies to make my doctor happy. The menu said the sauce had jalapeno in it but there is not even a hint of spiciness on this burger. However, it is a total huge mess to eat so I had to eat like a grandpa, cutting the burger with a knife. But I didn't care because I loved this burger! My spouse had the All American Burger and he put the server through his paces asking for every topping to be served on the side. Sounds like a mean thing to do but the server gladly satisfied his wishes. To be honest, my spouse enjoyed the burger immensely and added only the toppings he wanted, in the amounts he wanted and there is nothing wrong with that. Our server, Declan, was very friendly, fast and served us perfectly. So, another great meal at The Admiral with great food, great service and great times!!!! But, this weekend, I needed reservations for a group and they had what I wanted, when I needed it. So, off to the Tabard Inn we went. The restaurant is charming, quaint and old. It leans heavily into its unique character and not without some success. I felt like I was walking into the past. Old worn wood floors, old upholstered furniture that had seen better days, heck, the place even smelled old. But, rather than turn me off, it was comfortable and inviting, kind of like going to your grandma's house where everything looks like a museum but you know you're gonna get some love there. The staff could not be nicer, better, more friendly. They know how to "do" hospitality and do it well. The food was good, very good. I had the pork shank. I am telling you that I could only finish about 1/3 of it because the serving was so large. And the meat was fall of the bone, cut with your fork, tender. The flavor was rich and intense. Great job! The lamb chops looked fantastic. The fried chicken was just okay according to my spouse. Is the Tabard Inn the best restaurant in DC? No and, guess what, it's not trying to be. It is just trying to satisfy the diners. There is no haute cuisine here. Tried and true dishes, prepared very well. The other thing about this restaurant is its flexibility. You want to dress casual? Do it. You looking for a dress up, old fashioned sort of dining room? Yes, that works too. Romantic dinner with your special guy or gal? Absolutely! They seem to satisfy everyone here. And they definitely satisfied me. Will I go back again? Yes absolutely. Do I recommend the Tabard Inn? Of course!

My daughter had the wild mushrooms burger and she loved it -- the aioli had the perfect tang to go with the mushroom and Swiss, both burgers were cooked perfectly medium as requested. The fries were sort of stereotypical, nothing really fancy about those. I debated about having the truffle fries, but didn't really wanna pay the extra three dollars. Bless my server, he didn't know what black truffles were, either. The Reesie's peanut butter cup Skrewball milkshake was quite good. Good use of Skrewball. Could've done with a little more alcohol, but what a great combination. Good taste. Vanilla ice cream and peanut butter all the way through. My only .. concern.. were the pickles. There's this NoVA chain restaurant that serves POPCORN before the meal, which I think has to be the most depressing, unappetizing, lazy and cheap way to start a meal.
